▼ Read Me! FAQ ▼ Pre-Order $10 Program
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a
qualifying game and get multiple awards?
No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy
member per game title.
What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I
saw this offer?
If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing
this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as
your member ID is attached to the transaction.
When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?
For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My
Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates)
credited to your account approximately 15–20 days
after street date or store pickup.
If I pre-order a game now using my GCU and the
game releases after my membership ends, will
I still get the 20% off discount?
- From BestBuy Support Forums (link):
For in-store pre-orders, I can definitively say that if
your GCU membership is expired when you
complete your pickup, you will not receive the 20%
discount. This is because in-store pre-orders are not
processed until the time of pickup, and we only
collect an up-front deposit.

Pre-orders made on BestBuy.com are not as cut and
dry as in-store, but it is possible to retain your GCU
discount on a title released after your membership
expires for these types of pre-orders. Reason being,
when you place your pre-order the GCU discount is
calculated up front, and we then pre-authorize the
discounted total with your bank. If all goes well, the
discount can be retained upon release, however,
there is no guarantee.

A sure way to lose the discount on BestBuy.com
pre-orders is if any modifications are made to the
order prior to release, but after your membership
has expired. These modifications could be updating
the billing address, changing the form of payment,
and others. This is because when a modification is
made it triggers another authorization on your form of
payment, which should recalculate the price if your
GCU membership is no longer active.

You do realize my post was from TWO YEARS AGO and those games were not on the list back then, nor were any first party Sony or Nintendo games. Yes time changed that, but quoting a 2 year old post trying to prove me wrong is a very silly thing to do.
Super Mario Odyssey came with $10 certificate too.

Do you peeps normally do the product reviews for bonus points? I have done a bunch and it seems that they randomly give points for them.

I have a bunch with 0 issued points, and a bunch with the 25 issued points. I have enough 0 pointers right now to qualify for like $10-$15 in certs so I didn’t know if I missed something

/Edit Nevermind I just discovered they max you out at 8 reviews a year so I am not wasting that time anymore

I get an email on some/most purchases that asks to fill the survey out for points. If I get the email, I go ahead and do fill them out.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint has been added for a $10 certificate.

Release Dates

Gold and Ultimate Editions:
October 1, 2019.

Standard Edition:
October 4, 2019.

Yep, get your 8 a year early on, then ignore the emails. They do have the disclaimer in those, but don't stop emailing you after you reach 8.

Can I still use reward certs to get steam, eshop, or psn cards?
Yes and no.

They have disabled using reward certs to buy a physical prepaid card, but as of right now you can still use them to buy the digital code on Bestbuy.com

So for example if you try to buy this 12 month Gold card you get an error saying "Sorry, but reward certificates can't be used to buy gift cards or specialty items." But if you try to buy this one it works just fine.

Darn, I was hoping to get steam cards. Dont see any digital so I'll have to settle for psn I guess.

vermintide 2 is quite old and has had a complete edition at least digitally for a while, been waiting for another sale as i missed the last one maybe 4 months agoish?

I looked through a couple of the pages and the OP but couldn't find an answer - Do you get a $10 reward certificate for both a CE and a normal edition of a game on the same console?

The promo only works once per account per game title. You can get the bonus $10 with the standard or collectors edition (when posted, have never seen it not work) but if you buy both you would still only receive one $10 reward certificate. Also if you were to buy a PS4 & Xbox One copy of the game you would still only receive one $10 reward certificate.

Thanks, I was about to ask the same thing. So related question - do Pokemon Sword & Shield count as the same game, or will you get a $10 cert for each if you buy both?

Since those games are different titles, you will get a $10 reward certificate for both Sword and Shield each. Best Buy also has the Sword and Shield 2 pack for sale, but you would only get one certificate in that case. So buying them separately is the better deal.

You should get the GCU price as long as the order isn’t modified before launch date. So don’t change your card #, etc
Oh boy, so if the order is modified for any reason (change of shipping address for example) the price will revert to the non GCU discount because it has expired?

I'm excited that they are offering this on the digital formats but concerned about getting beta invites if I do. I'm looking at picking up a few xbox games with the first being Gears 5. It says that the code will be emailed on the release date. Is this accurate?

When I buy through the xbox directly it downloads and is ready to go before release date and I automatically get access to the beta. Anyone here have experience with this before I purchase it?

Reading the forums, I think that you have to purchase it all at the time that way no changes can be made when you pick it up after GCU ends.

I’m so jelly that you all (I assume) still have GCU. I just don’t find the $10 rewards certs compelling enough without the 20% discount. ($55 per game)

My new purchase preorders this past year and half have all come from target b2g1 ($41 per game). If that goes away, the cag in me will probably skip preordering games altogether and waiting for a future sale :/
