Best Buy DOTD (6/21) Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare (Xbox One) $29.99

I don't know a whole lot about this game other than it looks interesting, but I was looking at the cover at Gamestop and thought I saw it say you needed Xbox Live Gold. Is this an internet only game?

Yup, only has online multiplayer.

For anyone on the edge of buying this game, go for it! Amazon shipped it to me on release day and I've enjoyed it ever since. In fact, I traded the physical copy in at Best Buy so I could buy Xbox credit and get the game digitally so I can just jump into it any time. :)

For anyone still considering the game, watch a YouTube video or a Twitch broadcast to get a feel for the game.
 
This game is great, if you got nothing else to play on your X1 then I suggest you pick this up. Lots of value for a multiplayer only game, plus all the DLC is free. 

 
FYI / side note to this for anyone wondering, it comes out on the PC on Tuesday for $29.99 as well - at least through the Origin site.

 
get this game now....bought it for 40 at launch on a whim and glad I did.

as stated its online only....you must have gold. I'll also say I hate online games normally but love this one.

 
I was about to buy this since I've been really wanting it, but I wanted it for co-op play. Looks like co-op is only available on one game mode though, so I'll pass for now.

 
just got this a couple days ago.  will need to get price adjustment.  not a bad deal, especially if you're GCU.  it is fun and a nice change of pace from other online shooters.

 
Such a great and fun game, really didn't expect it to be really good

I bought it mainly cause I was waiting for titanfall but I kept coming back to plants vs zombies. It was just better imo
 
I agree with everyone else. It's a super fun game, best multiplayer experience I've had in a long time. 

I don't know about the Xbox One, but it still has a very active community on the 360.

It supports split screen but you still need to be online and have PS+ to play it.

The X1 and PS4 versions feature wise are similar with the exception of 900p/60fps(X1) vs 1080p/60fps(PS4) plus remote play for PS Vita.

Almost pulled the trigger, but online only kills it for me.  My 6 year old daughter has been wanting this game, but she only has silver.  She'll have to stick with the iPad versions for a while longer.

 
$4.27 with unlocked and my $20 rewards certificate. I imagine it's probably worth that.

If you have an account on your Xbox One with gold, every account has access to gold.

@immortal and this is a third-person competitive shooter. Make sure that's something your six-year-old would actually dig. Unless, of course, you're just using her as an excuse to get the game ... in which case, go for it!
 
I bought this game at launch. Loved it. Played it more than Titanfall. My house was burgled (such a silly word) and it was stolen. This is a great price to rebuy. Thanks for the heads up OP.

Perhaps it was the plants and or zombies depending on which side you played.

EA doesn't allow kids under 13 to use their online services, so even if she had gold, she couldn't play most of the game (if her account is setup correctly). Someone correct me if i'm wrong because this is a reason I am avoiding the game for my kids for now. Obviously, she could play under another account. My kids don't like doing that.

It was a two punks from a nearby neighborhood. I tracked them down and had them arrested. Got some of my stuff back but the point was to make my family feel safe at home again knowing the thieves were behind bars.

to be fair the xbox one version supports play on any xbox smart glass Ipad like device so it's essentially the same thing. the two versions look to be identical aside from the ratchet and clank parts

LOLOL.....no one abides by that ever. Im not even sure why companies think we do.

 
Wish this was $24.99, so after GCU it would be $20. Guess I will wait. Unless, is it possible to cross play with 360?

I really enjoyed the game when I had it. Im not a huge competitive multiplayer fan but I thought the coop "horde" mode was very fun. Oddly enough the coop mode has a lot of similarities to the Mass Effect 3 coop mode

picked this up this morning at my local best buy and played for an hour before work. loads of fun. add me on xb1 if interested in playing coop tag is krupted ndn

 
This is one of the few games that made me want the xbox one but I heard about the PS4 version being released so I sold my copy. It's super fun and definitely worth picking up at this price. 

I would rebuy this if only I had more time on my gold membership...and if I wasn't late for the DotD

Only problem with the game is the party system on the 360 version, as in there is none. Not easy trying to get 2 friends in to a game where the lobby is only open for 30 seconds or so.

Other than that, pvz has been my favorite multi game since gears of war 3. Fun as all hell. Very much worth it at this price.
