Best Buy DVD sale glitch *EL MUERTE*
Scarface for sure didn't work. Was it in that list from Best Buy...didn't see it there. But as I scanned the list, yep 90% of those I remember for sure were either in the special section (Amadeus, Enter the Dragon, Mystic River, Giant, etc.) and the others I mostly remember from their sections with the special double yellow tags. I didn't try each one, but figured those would be the best bets. Some were absolutely gone, like King Kong SE, Serenity, Citizen Kane, Casablanca...
Hmmm, I see Scarface is indeed in that list from BB.com, but I tell you for certain it did not work. This was with the Special Edition, which was marked on the shelf for 9.99 and rang up at 9.99, not the Ultimate Edition. So it wasn't because i got the wrong version. The deal just didn't go through.

I say if you really want something you see that is 9.99, just take it up and give it a try.

agreed

hopefully people will try different titles and report if they work or not...

Well, this proved to be the better of the BB deals. The game clearance didn't work out for me at all. I found a couple DS games from the list (That's So Raven and The Urbz), but nothing I would want even if I were an 11 year-old girl. I was, however, able to score Goodfellas, Heat, 7even, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Giant, and East of Eden (completing my James Dean collection). Also, 3 of the 300 discs. I thought about trying for 6, but I didn't want to push my luck, since I figured the deal was one with each dvd PURCHASE. But man, kudos on pulling off buy 4, get 6. That's a hell of a find. Overall, I'm really happy with what I got, and I'm just thankful people were too distracted by the game clearance to rack up on this deal.
meh, most of the titles are only worth 6 bucks anyway. save your cash
thx for your opinion, it really added a lot to this thread. BTW- with this deal, you're getting the movies for $5 each...so your logic makes no sense.

I may try this deal once more tonight. I still would like to pick up Enter the Dragon and maybe Lost Boys. I was sure hoping Scarface WAS a part of this deal. dammit.

Score in Montgomery,AL! I got Boogie Nights, Enter the Dragon, True Romance and V for Vendetta, along with 4 of the 300 bonus discs w/ movie cash all for $21.98. Damn Im a happy CAG today!

Just got back from BB.

I got Citizen Kane
Amadeus
Unforgiven
One Flew Over the Cukkoo's Nest
Se7en
Mystic River

a little over $30.

Is Casablanca any good?

If you like citizen kane then ud probably like casablanca. They are both highly rated films, however I thought Citizen Kane was somewhat boring the first time I watched it. The people in the 1940s didnt have the exciitng movies we have today and liked films that put them to sleep.....jk
This is a crazy sweet deal, I got about 18 movies and a handful of free tickets to 300 for less than $100. You can't beat that.
it's an early nom for best DVD deal of 07

for sure

special edition is the "regular" one right? ultimate edition is the nicer cased one right?

Well, I bought Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Heat, Goodfellas, Room with a View, Mystic River, Unforgiven, and the Shawshank Redemption. I would have got a few more, but I own most of the other ones. They acted weird and refused to give me any 300 discs at one location.

Went back and snagged Cuckoo's Nest and Citizen Kane.

Here's the title that were BOGO last week, not sure if all of them got repeated @ $9.99 this week but it looks like most of them were.

The Shawshank Redemption
The Philadelphia Story
East of Eden
Batman
True Romance
Gothika
Casablanca
Enter the Dragon
Giant
Seven
Boogie Nights
Bullitt
Rebel Without a Cause
Amadeus
Phantom of the Opera
King Kong (1933)
The Lost Boys
Unforgiven
V for Vendetta
Million Dollar Baby
Heat
Batman Returns
A Room With a View
Constantine
Goodfellas
Chariots of Fire
Yankee Doodle Dandy
Poseidon
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next
My Fair Lady
Magnolia
Citizen Kane
Mystic River

I picked up Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River, Casablanca, Boogie Nights, Heat and Unforgiven this afternoon for ~$30. Awesome deal, thanks for posting it.

Can anyone post if the deal is working today (Tuesday)?

In one of the DVD forums they mentioned that a memo went out to make sure the discs rang up as $9.99 each (as they do online).

Also if anyone got the deal at the Schaumburg, IL BB store today - please let me know.

Thanks!

That could possibly be that some of them have been ringing up 21.99$ even though they are part of the 9.99 sale. Happened to me with Shawshank
special edition is the "regular" one right? ultimate edition is the nicer cased one right?
Yep. I tried it again last night. Didn't work for either version of Scarface. But I can confirm that multiple copies of the 300 preview disc w/ free movie cash do work with only 1 DVD purchase.

I just got back from BB. Stil working as of 11 am. I grabbed the following:

Rebel Without a Cause
True Romance
Se7en
Magnolia
300 disc x4

for 2 orders of $10.69 each.

I tried to get the Heat: 2 disc, but the cashier told me that the sale was only for the regular edition after it rang up for 23.99. Anyone able to get the 2-disc edition on this deal?

yep

it should be the 2discer that's part of the sale

that's the one i had rung up

Was able to get:

Heat
Seven
Batman
Batman Returns
V for Vendetta
Enter the Dragon

I only took 2 300 discs w/MovieCash. That's all I needed.

This was in Milpitas, CA Best Buy.

Bullitt is worth the purchase for Steve McQueen alone. However if you still need more reason to sway for the purchase, it contains one of the top 5 car chases of all time. That beautiful Mustang fastback and the 68 Charger R/T playing mouse and cat in the hills of San Francisco. Definately worth the purchase.
Heck, just go to Movie Gallery, you can get DVDs for like 5 for $20.
No. If you want 5 copies of oceans twelve, sure. Movie Gallery never sells the 2 disc versions of the movies listed. If you feel like you're being helpful you're wrong.

Getting BRAND NEW special edition dvds that usually run around 15-20 bucks for 5 a peice is an awesome deal.

Thanks OP.

I just couldn't pass on adding some more of these to my collection so I picked up Se7en, Bullitt, Rebel Without a Cause and Room with a view today.....I am such a cheap DVD slut. The deal is still working.

You figure BB would have figured out their mistake by now. Very weird but very cool. Thanks again OP!

i went back for a 3rd time b/c i too am a cheap dvd whore

this time was

chariots of fire
giant
boogie nights
million dollar baby

i'm done now...

thank you BB sale glitch

you have made my February much better

Too bad that I already own most of the DVDs that were on sale. I still managed to pick up Se7en and True Romance for $10.86 total and my wife and I get to see 300 for free which makes it even better.

Thanks CAG and DVD Talk.

You have a crappy Movie Gallery then there big guy. Mine only sells the 2-disc versions. And from the list, about half of them you can get at my MG. So stop being an ass please.

i've never heard of movie gallery

but regardless it has nothing to do with this deal

and i doubt that all of these titles are available at MG for this price

if they are, post a link

Definitely still active. I went with a coworker to the Best Buy in Mountain View and got (all 2 or 3 disc editions):

Enter The Dragon
Mystic River
Goodfellas
Heat
300 preview discs x4 (they had STACKS of these)

What's stupid was that, at first, we couldn't find any of the special editions of some of the movies. We saw crappy versions of Goodfellas and Heat in the action section, and we asked a sales associate if they had any of the 2-disc editions of Heat. The guy came over and said they were out of the 2-disc editions. Later on, my coworker is browsing the drama section and, of course, finds the 2 disc editions of Heat and Goodfellas there.

I got enter the dragon and amadeus for $10 with 2 movie tickets. What a fantastic deal, i am going to go back for citizen kane and something else later this week!

I got Amadeus and Constantine, odd thing though is the Cashier only rang up one of them. Now I feel like they are going to come after me or something. I should have said something during the transaction but I figured they might just be doing that because of the glitch not really sure.

Not like you did anything wrong though. That's just incredibly dumb to not scan the movie...
...unless, the reason they are doing this sale is because they bought a lot of copies they can't return for credit (or whatever bigboxes do with excess), and their gonna destroy them anyway. They've been having a BOGO at $20 for the last year on most of these titles, and then suddenly a BOGO at $10... they really want to get rid of them, I think.

didnt have goodfellas...oh well...and i didnt wanna risk trying scarface...sooooo

i got:

se7en (my friend says this is his favorite movie of all time..sooo, i bought it to check it out)

enter the dragon (supposedly the pioneer of kung fu flicks...i guess comparing this movie to kung fu flicks is equivilant to Final fantasy 7 for playstation RPG's)

Heat (heard good things bout this...plus it has al pacino/scarface!!)

v for vendetta (this was kind of a tough decision since it got mixed reviews...but it was only 5 bucks so whatever...)

Had to make another run today and got:

Mystic River
Shawshank Redemption
True Romance
Unforgiven

If this still works Thursday I may have to go for a third run at this deal to get Boogie Nights and Bullitt

i think you got that comparison backwards....

had a interesting time @ the Best Buy here in Queens,NY. so i go inside and ask if they have the 300 preview DVDs. and i was goin back and forth, and one of the cashiers said she has them and im like can i get a few and she said its only 1 and that the DVD has to be $9.99. so i go walk around w/ my friend and try to figure something out. i get on CAG on my Sidekick and see wa movies are mentioning. so i pick up Seven & Batman Returns w/ prices of $23.99. i found loads of copies of the 300 DVD too. i just picked up four for me and my friends.
so i go to the register and i ask for prices, they come up as $9.99 and im like the DVDs are free. so she tries like 3x. and im like maybe u have to do the final screen. she goes "oh yea, maybe" lol.
ended up spending $10.83 for 2 movies and 4 300 DVD previews. love you guys. might buy some more DVDs and snag some up. me and my friends could all go see it. :applause:

Thanks for the heads up I got Boogie nights, Seven, Enter the dragon x2, V for Vendetta, and Chariots of fire. Also found a leftover Madden 2007 for GBA for $1.99 and Spiderman 2 and mercenaries for $5 each. Thanks again:applause:
