The loss of points really has me pissed off. Considering they are now delaying points 35-40 days and not even updating the gamer zone points, I had a total of $220 of purchases I made in late December that I was credited just a week ago and have now been erased. That is total BS.

Yeah, I just lost 170+ points as well. Also, purchases made in the last 35 days of the year do not count for Premier Silver status, so you better get your Christmas shopping done before Black Friday weekend. Now, points processing is 45 days instead of 35 days!!!!!

lost about 150 in points... that's all I spent there last year.... good reason for me to just keep cherry picking.

I wasn't aware of the reset...what crap...lost 150+. I could see if those points were sitting there for a year, but to reset points from within the last month FNA

Is there a way to tell if you lost points or not? I don't see any mention of it in my account.

Maybe because I am banking points? I have purchases in late December that still have a point value associated with them and nothing about them being expired.

This was incorrect for me. As of December 31st I was still $150 short of Premier Silver Status, but I had $250 in pending transactions in December. On January 1st Best Buy removed the little graph that showed you how much you need for Premier Silver status so I assumed I was screwed. I logged in a few weeks ago and noticed that they extended my Premier Silver status to February 2011. This could only have been obtained once my pending transactions from December posted.
You go to your points and purchases.

I thought everyone knew that points were expiring? Wasn't this mentioned a long time ago?
Yes, but my recollection was that the points were going to expire 12/31/09 and it was not going to include points that hadn't yet accrued. They also made it sound like they were going to round to the nearest point value which in my mind meant they would give you a few extra points to get you to 250 if you were close. Turns out, that's not what happened. Basically, if you didn't spend $250 or more in December, whatever you did spend got tossed. On top of that, Gamer Zone has been not working at all for the last 60 days. Basically, the only reason to go to Best Buy anymore is for free games. It sure doesn't make sense to buy anything there.
that is some bull!!! I just spent $400 on a tv two week ago!!!!
You shouldn't have anything to worry about. Those points won't even post for another 3 weeks.

Hell just call, it might make a difference ....anymore everytime they screw anything up on my RZ account ... I call and last two times they messed something up, or shafted me outta points .... ive gotten a total of 1250 bonus points out of them messing up.

Called the other day cause i bought a netbook on Dec. 20th but when it shows up on RZ site it shows 0 points earned but $320 spent .... she didn t know why ....fixed my points and gave me 500 points extra for them screwing up.

thanks for the post :D just signed up for their gamer zone... thing might grab dragon age if after this its 30-40...
can't wait till that season of games hits $40 (dragon age, borderlands, ACII (already got), Modern Warfare 2, :whee:I GOTTA CATCH UM ALL:whee:)

Damn! Those bitches erased my points on the 5th!!! :bomb: I had 243 points too. Not a huge amount I know, but still. Ah well, I'll probably be spending close to $1000 (buying a new tv & new Wii) soon. Seeing that it's @ the beginning of the year, I should have some decent RZ points this year. Which btw I'll make sure to use by the end of november or early december.

i don't get this 'points expired'... i just checked and still have 260 points... i decided to just request the cert. because after reading all these posts it seems like they might wipe them???

i signed up in sept and have really saved a lot...
i lost 180 points that were sitting there forever. So now i have even more reason to only buy loss leaders n penny/free shit from bb.
+1

That's probably the only time most of us go there anyway.
Premier members can bank points so no points loss for me,....suckas!!!!!!
But that means you had to have spent a good chunk of change at BB already to reach 'Premier' status level. So, one has to ask....who is the 'sucka' here?

:lol::razz:

I think the only way I ever made it to a $5 RZ certificate was when I had friends and family all using duplicates of my RZ card for every one of their purchases.

Unlike most normal Americans though, I don't buy new shit when new tech comes out. I use my old shit till it's broke shit, THEN I buy new.

The most I've spent at Best Buy in the past 4-5 years was $10 on a CD or game. Before that was $149.99(plus tax) on my original Xbox in 2005. Otherwise, I refuse to buy anything but the aforementioned loss leaders/penny guides/free items.

I had to buy new kitchen appliances from BB and a DVD book case, so I hit Premiere Silver super easy. I've enjoyed getting free online shipping so I didn't have to run out to the stores to try and get something like Metroid Prime Trilogy for $20. I also enjoy the point banking and roll over from 2009-2010.

Unless you have to make the perfect storm of purchases in one year (major appliances / big expensive TVs / above low-end laptops), I wouldn't even bother trying to get Premiere Silver status. Unless its a free game, penny guide, or a super cheap game (like $5 Pikmin), there isn't much worth buying at Best Buy that you can't find cheaper elsewhere.

I don't even think they gave me Premiere Silver for a full year as I think its supposed to expire this month even though I earned it in June. Perhaps I'll have to read the fine print again and perhaps argue Best Buy on that point. Luckily my $500 bonus points for the Gamers Club went through, so I'm like 60 points away from 1000 points. Once I get that, I'm cashing out and I'm not even going to bother with trying to get certs in the future, especially if I don't have Premiere Silver.

I just logged on to my account and I didn't notice any changes. I still have the 151 points that I had from last year with only the points from Pikmin/Excitebots pending.

I only lost 21 points but I still have lots of transactions where the gamer points have not gone through (all mainly from December). Will I still get those points if they haven't posted yet? They keep telling me it can take up to 45 days to get the Gamer points.

In other news, I tried ordering Sudoku for in-store pick up knowing everyone would empty out the stores. I placed an order and tried to pick it up the next day but was told it was no longer available. They then placed my order online but of course, it went immediately to backorder. Finally, on February 1st, I canceled the order but for my troubles, I was offered a $20 BB certificate. So, not great, but not bad either.

I'm a silver member until Feb 2011, so no points loss for me.

I'm also sitting on 100.00 in RZ certs.

Easiest way to rack up points: whenever someone is making a big purchase from BB, I tell them to give me the cash later, and I'll use my RZ master card and have it shipped to their house for free.

:whistle2:k, I noticed when the points went through for buying Wii Fit for my mom, I didn't get anything towards my gamer points. Does the Wii Fit pack not count?

I only buy loss leader stuff at best buy. My points total is -900 points. I sent them an email and called them a few times last year. They told me they were looking into the problem but they never resolved it. So you guys lost your points. Why didn't I lose my negative points? Bastards.

By the way, why do people say they're going to buy a TV from Best Buy? Amazon charges less and they ship to your house for free!
Screw Best Buy, I lost 189 points.
Sounds like Best Buy is doing the screwing.

Nah, that is new to the program. Soon you will have to send them a gift certificate and they can come pick something out at your house.

I'm done with BB after this. I lost 89 points, 40 just went into my account last week, the rest went in THIS week. I still have 100+ pending, so let's hope they don't screw me on that too.

I'm shopping at Circuit Cit... oh yeah... Amazon it is!

I guess Best Buy is getting back at us for all those free games...funny how we bitch when a company does something like this, but its okay that we take advantage of their screw ups and system "glitches".

BTW, I lost 151 points, but still show 4 transactions pending. Also the site says system maintenance is in progress, may take an additional 10 days to process.

I have -60 points. How come that didn't get reset to zero?

The reason why I have -60 is because I bought a PS3 back when it first launched a few years ago. They awarded me a gift certificate from all the points but when I decided to return it, I already used the gift certificate.

Okay everybody cool down. Best buy sent an email way back to everyone with a reward zone account that they are changing their policies. Reward points would not roll over every year. You should all expect your points to be deducted; nothing to freak out over. We all were given fair warning.

I never received this mail, but still, they should at least give people a chance to use earned points instead of waiting for them to post and then immediately taking them away

hm, I didn't lose any points. I still have 2,582 points sitting in my bank. maybe its because i am a premier silver member though. I have 12 transactions pending aswell.

You are right, I remember that now.

Wrong. This is not how they explained the non-roll over would work. It was supposed to deduct any points in your account not used as of 12/31/09. All of my points were not even posted until late January. They also promised to give us $10 for each $150 we spent on games and Gamer Zone has been broken for over two months now. I spoke to customer relations about it earlier this week and they said they have no idea when Gamer Zone will be working again.
can't tell if i lost points or how many.
Is there a deduction somewhere?
If you go to your page for your account, on the left side, it will say Account summary with a bunch of links. Near the bottom, it will say, "View Points and Purchases", click that. In the list, it will show how many were deducted.

It turns out that I only lost 11.24 points, as the 250 were taken off because of the certificate.

I had 237 points wiped. They posted to my account on February first, and I lost them on the 5th. Complete BS that anything you buy at the end of the year, unless it's over 250 dollars, is worthless. It should be points not used within 1 year expire, not points you haven't used in 1 week!!

I don't feel bad at all about the FTF thing anymore.
