To clear up any confusion, front row games are the games that are displayed at the checkout counters in large blue boxes. All the games have big white stickers with their prices on them. They range in price from 4.99-14.99. These are NOT normal stocked items, nor are they the yellow stickered items found in the normal game section. Some stores are now moving these games into their normal stock sections, but they will still have the white stickers on them. If they do not have a white sticker, they are NOT a front row game.

********
Etymology of the phrase "Front Row" *******************
********************************************************

The term front row game stems from the name on a receipt for these items. They will all show up with the generic title Front Row instead of their actual names. The term does not specifically have to do with the fact that these games are found in the front row of a store, although that was where they originally were found. If you find a game without a sticker in the front row of a store, IT IS NOT A FRONT ROW GAME. It is only a Front Row game if it has a white sticker with a price tag along with a white upc sticker covering the original sticker.

**********************************************************

**PLEASE READ THIS FIRST ***
Ratchet & Clank for 9.99 is a Frontrow Game ONLY. We all know it's 40 on the website. All frontrow games are NOT normal stock games and will not show up online. These prices are good IN STORE only.
Found Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins (PSP) for $9.99.

Anyone have any thoughts on it? I am actually considering returning it.
I also bought a copy of this game but I got it for about $5 at K-Mart on clearance. It's a good game but kinda frustrating because of the difficulty level. Well worth a purchase for $9.99 IMHO.

They had the Family Guy game for X Box priced at 9.99. They have all the front row games in a special section now. The PS2 version was 14.99.

Yeah so the Best Buy in Mesquite, TX had this as a front row game for 9.99, and it's supposed to be one of the best Harvest Moon games. I thought it a steal for this price. Dunno if this has been posted before, but just letting you know!

Hmm, I think this was on the Best Buy clearance thing from a while back, but I'm not 100% sure. Nonetheless, thanks OP. I need to check it out.

You may be thinking of the DS version.

If it is the Gamecube Game "Harvest Moon: Magical Melody," it is worth every dime, and then some. Absolutely the best Harvest Moon game ever. There is a PAL Wii port, but I have no idea what was added, other than a new box.

If it is "Harvest Moon DS," it would be best you skip it and wait for "Harvest Moon Cute DS" or "Harvest Moon Island of Happiness" in Q2, or even pick up the excellent "Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon." The 1st gen "Harvest Moon DS" has some bugs, including a "game save erase" that can really ruin your day.

I just need to vent a super lame Best Buy story involving front row games:

I was there late at night 15 minutes before closing and they had only two registers open and about 20 people waiting in line getting disgruntled at the lack of help a group of 6 other BB employees standing around were not providing.

So I FINALLY get to the register with 5 front line games and the cashier rings up the first at $4.99 and she's shocked that it's so cheap thinking that can't be right. So she scans some others and they come up $9.99 each. She's really confused and says, "Something fishy is going on." She looks puzzled at the generic UPC codes on the back and she wondering what they are and she acts like I put those stickers on there so they'll all ring up at $9.99 like I'm some scam artist.

So she calls the store manager over and they have some discussion, and with some apprehension, she rings them all up and I pay. As I was about to leave, I can clearly hear them talking aloud wondering why those games were ringing up $9.99. Super lame.

As sad as it is, I understand your frustration. I personally don't like shopping at BB. Too bad CC posted a horrible quarterly loss, their cashiers don't say anything.

Got myself a peeler once. Scanned at 9.99, but she was too smart, or too bored. Not sure which. So I'm standing there and she starts shredding into the white barcode sticker without a word... scans the original UPC... $1.99 pops up. She quickly hit reverse and gladly charged me $9.99.

Picked up 4 new games at the BB checklane budget titles.
King of Fighters XI (PS2) $9.99
FirePro Wrestling (PS2) $9.99
Neo Geo Battle Collseum(PS2) $9.99
Dai Senryaku Exceed VII(PS2) $9.99

She peeled it off you should have told her you want the 1.99 price. :)

Where exactly is "front row". I have trouble finding it in all of my best buys. Also I never like BB's service anyway. Like i tried to use the save $10 off any PS3 game for All pro football, and this cashier was saying, "WHAT! HE'S ONLY PAYING 80 cents for this game? It can't be right. " Then she calls over the manager and he says "sorry NO COPIES" even though the coupon scans.

My Best Buy also had these 4 games. They had about 6 copies of KoF, 0 FPR (I got the only one), 2 copies of NGBC and 1 copy of DSE VII.

This is in Omaha, NE.

Oh and for Blackbird:
They are in the area around the registers where they have candy and other stuff.

My local BB has the Front Row games actually next to the strategy guides far away from the cashier stations. They must have moved them recently due to the Christmas shopping season since they used to be by them.

I really need to check for these. Maybe I'll wait til a few days after Christmas and all the crazy shopping and refunding and all subsides... I've honestly never noticed them at my local store, and I've searched the place pretty thoroughly for game deals.

Or do they only have budget titles now and no more deals on the originally high-priced stuff?
Is it worth getting if i have A Wonderful Life?
From what I've seen/played these are two completely different games.

If I can find this I'll definitely pick it up as an Xmas gift for my dad. He loves those types of games, he's still playing Animal Crossing over and over, and I got him for Xmas 2 years ago.

I am not entirely clear on all Wonderful life features, but here is a short rundown of Magical Melody feature:

- Lots of fishing if u choose to do so -- so if u are not too into farming, you can focus more on fishing
- 3 separate plots of land to build a house on - river front, ocean front, and standard farm plot
- Redecorate your house -- all furniture is movable
- U can have a kid after marriage
- Collect music notes for accomplishing special tasks, which are used to revive the Forest Fairy queen
- back to a 3/4 overhead view -- but definitely 3-D, not 2-D sprite based
- a minigame mode for up to 4 players
- a special island fishing ground accessible only by dolphin

There are other diffs. Magical Melody is the pinnacle of this last gen. Rune Factory is supposed to be strong on the DS. Keep in mind Innocent Life is getting a PS2 port later this year too.

Can someone answer my question about what front row is? I have trouble finding it. I never saw any bins behind the counter or anything. So, if i ask them what "front row" is, will the employee's know?
Can someone answer my question about what front row is? I have trouble finding it. I never saw any bins behind the counter or anything. So, if i ask them what "front row" is, will the employee's know?
It's exactly what's stated in the front thread. If you don't see any games with big white stickers on them, then the store doesn't have them.
This thread was started over a year ago, and the way stores have been utilizing their stock of front row games has changed alot since then, to the point where few even have them in the front of the store. The employees will probably not know what you're talking about if you ask for them since this is just the name of the items from the receipt. They don't advertise them as front row games anywhere. Just look around your store and you'll probably find them. The stickers are hard to miss.

For what it's worth, the 2 new Best Buys that opened near me set up front-row displays. These new BB's have the single checkout lane that winds past several displays of candy, magazines, regular DS games, Wii controllers, DVDs, and last but not least, the frontlane display. It is usually blue with "Value Games" or some such thing written on it. In addition, one of the stores has a rack in the front of the game section (thus at the back right corner of the store) with even more front-lane stuff.

Now, I haven't found anything worth buying in these displays in ages, especially with no GamePro coupon to take $5 off any more .

Did they change the sticker on them?
I see some games on the list with matching prices but there were no white stickers but the blue BB tag stickers instead.

Edit: Found the bin with the white sticker. Some games are same price as BB clearance bin.

If it's not a white sticker, it's not a front row game. The yellow stickers aren't the same thing.

I went to Best Buy this evening. They used to have a selection of the $9.99 games up front near the register but there weren't any to be seen anywhere today. I asked at a different store in our area the other day and the salesman said they used to have some cheap games like that but don't carry them any more. I'm wondering if they took them off display for Christmas?

Gurumin is pretty awesome, I definitely suggest it for $10. It's fun enough for older gamers but kid friendly for the lads and lasses.
my local Best Buy had at least 20+ Perfect Dark Zero: CE copies for the 360 on the front row for $19.99 yesterday
That may be more or less universal. I bought my copy from Target some time ago for the same price.

BTW, like somewhere posted a bit above, the last time I went to my local Best Buy there weren't even any games up front like before.
Saw two new noteworthy PSP frontlane games:

9.99 Gurumin
9.99 Exit
Whaa? Exit was one of the very first frontlaners about a year ago ;). Actually, I think it has been well over a year. I haven't seen any in 6 months or so, but that is an oldie (and was once a goodie too as it used to trade pretty well at Blockbuster back when the $5 gamepro coupon was active).

:cold: so very :cold: to rain on my frontlane discovery.

It wasn't on the page 1 list, and I've never seen it as a frontlane. Ever. It's "new" to me and I'm sure someone out there could be looking.

I would have been thrilled to find it a year ago, but I bought my copy from the Gamequest sale posted in deals (thanks CAG!) a few months back because I couldn't find it anywhere else.

A pat on the back for Gurumin wouldn't have killed you. :D

I found Ultimate Ghosts & Goblins for PSP for $10 last week at my BB (front row)

I would have snatched it up in a hurry if I didn't already have it.

JEFF

One BB near me removed them and put them in black card board boxes about waist high near the games section..problem is they are leveled inside and you cant see whats at the next level below unless you dump the thing out. they are too tightly packed to be a knob and dig inside.

BTW,

Anyone play Ninjbread man? Ive seen tons of these. :D

They were back up front at my Best Buy today. Several Wii ones for $19.

:wii: Ninjabread Man. Billy The Wizard. Myth Makers - Super Kart Racing (was almost tempted. I love kart racers)
Mercury Meltdown. some other marble game. Hard Rock Casino Game.
:ps2: Fire Pro Wrestling. KOF XI (both for $9.99). A few greatest hits titles for $9.99 (VF:evolution. NFL Blitz).
Crap for $4.99. (Triggerman. The Heist. uh, other junk)
:xbox: I do remember seing Brute Force and Abe's Odyessy for $4.99
:ds: Some vietnam game. Nothing memorable at all. (I think all the DS games were $14.99)

My local Best Buy dismantled the front lane box and moved the cheap games back into their relative sections. I don't know what happened to the copies of Fire Pro and Dai Senryaku. I'm kind of glad I bought an extra copy of Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum before the front lane box disappeared...

I was just sort of thinking "what Happened to the front lane games?" and I come here to see the topic died. Did the stores get rid of the displays?
Actually, I've seen a lot of new stuff, but I just don't pay attention to 19.99 games I already got for 5ish at another store.
Yep.

There are new front lane games, but most of them are truly terrible. This thread became popular because there were worthwhile titles hidden among the garbage, but now it's nearly all crap, and pricier crap at that.

my newly built BB puts they in the furthest back corner of the store
