BEST BUY? Let's discuss.
They say that $5 is the "accepted" minimum, then that's what I'm going to do. It's in the rules, so I'm not raising any flags to them.
Exactly. Play by their (totally reasonable) rules, and they will have no just cause for removing the GGC (though frankly I doubt it would stop them anyways).
On the coupon, it states that it can't be combined with any other offers or deals. In plain English on the back of the coupon. So, any chance of using a PM with the GGC is completely YMMV. If you get it to happen once, don't asusme it would happen again. Relying on it is fooling yourself.

And if you plan to funnel the coupons from BB to CC, eventually someone will look at the back of the coupon and decide that they can't do the PM with the GGC. Then your problem would be there as well. Would you be complaining about CC then?
Can't say. We'll have to address that later if it ever comes to it. Can't use the coupons after 12/31/2004. Any body want one?

Anyways, good night everybody and thanks for the opinions. It's nice to hear everybodies opinion and get praised, sympathy, and bashed at all once. Time for some Halo 2 and Paper Mario. Maybe a little Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars Battlefront. God, it's good to be a CAG'er.

I don't care about what the accepted minimum is. If it's not a stated rule then you can't hold people to some imaginary standard. That's not my question anyway. It was: how does the amount you put on the card make any difference? Seriously. I'm not trying to cause trouble, I just don't see how it makes any possible difference. You get the coupon regardless. I guess there's a point where it doesn't pay for the material the card and coupon are printed on, but other than that, what's the incentive to Best Buy?
I see your point. It really makes no difference in revenue for BB. In a roundabout sort of way, they profit when he puts a penny on there, because he isn't likely to bother redeeming it. But still, putting a penny on there is going out of your way to look suspicious.
Of course, some people who are lucky with their CC buy the GGC's at $0.01 just to use them at CC. That's one difference of paying a penny vs. 5 bucks.

If you have the black GGC coupons, then yes, they expire in a month and a half.

My BB has the 2005 silver-and-lime green GGC's, which are the same $5 off $19.99. They also have in the 2005 blue PS2 and forest green XBox $5 off $29.99 GGC's as well. Pic of the latter two forthcoming. If they get rid of them, then it's probably due to abuse. The $29.99 GGC's were around in the games area and almost all the $19.99 GGC's are by the checkout lines, as well as a few in the games area.

Only time will tell if they're really gone.

I never had any luck with my CC's taking the GGC, even though I told them it's their corporate policy. They give me a blank stare and then that's the end of that. So, I use the GGC at BB and never plan on it being used successfully with a PM. I use CC's for PM's and not BB, since they tend to be real jackasses about PM's, at least the ones by me.

It's the ones who show up brightly on their radar scope for this kind of thing, and with working through 13 transactions at the register tends to do that IMHO, then if it happens enough, they'll do more due dilligence on how they're being used. Just like Target seems to have done with their rainchecks.

Company policies do change when enough odd things happen. We play it smart, it'll stick around for a long while. Do enough behavior like this, and it'll be gone, tucked in the fold of the "devil customer problem", never to return.

BB refers to people like us (deal hunters and cheap asses) as "devil customers," because we are always looking for the cheapest way to get something. They don't bother to think about the fact that we take advantage of promotions they themselves make available.

Thanks jmcc, shrike, and ledhed, I didn't know. Very enlightening.

Just from the first page, Who buys 2-15 games a week? Doy ou not have anything better to spend money on like a social life or a GF maybe?

Actually, I do. I collect games. Have been since I was 8. I have a very well paying job, and do so because I can, and like to. Is that okay with you? Stay in school, go to college, and get a good job. Until then, mind your own. I don;t ask you what you do, do I?

To quote your sig: word, son.

This thread makes me sad. The gamer's gift card was such a deal. I bought so many games when they hit $19.99 because I could get them for 25% off at best buy with the coupon.

I do not understand why people do not just put $10 on each card. You are going to spend the money there anyway and it is not as obvious to Best Buy what you are doing to them.

All of the people who bought cards for .01 or $1 just added to the ending of this deal. Best Buy is out to make money and these transactions stand out to them in their computer system.

I don't think it's any of your business. Some people can afford to do all of them.

OP, I must say that the 2-15 games is a pretty big range.

Depends on whats on sale. I just got an N64 and have bought about 36 games for it in the last 3 weeks to build the collection. Which reminds me. I don't relly care for ebay either.

Not only do we take advantage of the things they make available to use, but if we get good customer service and good pricing, we might recommend it to other people, bringing them additional revenue? Plenty of people ask my advice on things to buy at stores like CC and BB, and I vote with my wallet on where they should go, friends, family members and co-workers. Though, when BB goes after the customers that bargain/deal hunt, they might lose some additional revenue in the process. I know I'm not the only one in this case.

In gdw's defense, he was buying them in hopes of combining them with a PM at CC. Since this is way YMMV though, it's hard to argue the validity of it. Regardless, he seems to understand what we were saying, so everything is cool now. Here's to hoping the GGC is still around for a while.

People actually do manage to juggle a social life, a GF and buy that many games in a week, plue a little thing called a job. Such as myself.

Careful in making value judgements on people. What's odd in your view isn't to another.

shrike, that is true. I do balance a social life, a very busy job, and a gf. Most of my games are still in the plastic. Not enough time. I usually take a couple of days off a month to play games. Why not?
I just noticed this. Whenever someone makes a post on this site, people argue. You all are some angry CAG'ers.
LMAO! You are one funny dude. You start a thread being angry as what just because of what happend. You feel Best Buy owes you the right to let you buy all the coupons for just one cent each with no problem
Like it was said before you never have worked retail, if you did then you would know its not idiots in blue shirts...they are human beings. You think they are bastards? Well guess what your one of those customers that I laugh about with people when i talk about the weirdo customers in retail.
According to you they get paid M.W. so why must you be a pain in the ass to a cashier who most likely just wants to go home.(btw thats total bull, i made minimum wage before i worked at BB and believe me its not the best ever but i know MANY people who have gotten or do get paid less as full time, i was part)

You could put any company up there and i would say the same thing. People who take advantage of TRU and Target big time piss me off too. Point is your a cheapassscumbag not a cheapassgamer. There is a difference between saving the most money you can or being one of those who try to make the most money out of a deal and ruin it for other gamers trying to save a buck.

The "disappearance" of the GGC has been a very ficticious point, since plenty of people have seen the 2005 GGC and plenty of other haven't. Until someone in every major market says that they aren't around, then they're still in existance. I think beyond 2005, we may not see them again, but I'd like to think that they're around for the coming year. The $5 off $29.99 isn't a good of a deal, but then again, 16% is better than 0%. And with them just being on the PS2 and XBox seems like they're giving Nintendo no love, which seems odd to me.

The use of them at CC is YMMV and with a PM is SERIOUS YMMV. If you can pull it off, then you lucked out better than I have.

Umm, both parties quit the silly hostility almost 2 pages ago. Sorry you showed up late to the party.
LedHed,

Thanks again.

Cool, I have 13 of them, and I only have to pick up Metroid Prime 2. The others were gonna go to friends but they probally won't get around to using them. I could always use them, but I think I spent enough in the last couple of days.

Maybe, I still nedd them. I forgot about Mario Tennis, and Pikmin 2, and a few others. Damn. When will they stop putting out so many freakin' good games?
Well, the funny thing is, I have 2 friends that work there and it's seems that they have been brainwashed by the blue shirted douches. They tell me: "Dude, it's not right to use those coupons. We have sales goals to meet." WTF?
Now this is crazy! Did you slap him? tell me you did.

It's never really about the money. or else you wouldn't have rich kids trying on sneakers and walking out the store with them. Or maybe since people with money can afford to pay full price and not send in their rebates or use coupons then why doesn't Best Buy lower their prices, since they can afford it. How about not complaining that 10% of your customers are "devils" because they send in their rebates and use coupons and return items that they found cheaper some place else. You people defending BB over a coupon sound like fucking fools. they are a billion dollar company making millions in profits off the money we put in their pockets. lf dude wants to grab some coupons and use them he should be able to. In-house or out. ...and you call yourselves cheapasses. This whole forum is built on the shit hes talking about.

Man, this topic has worse mood swings than any woman I've ever encountered.
LedHed, true is all I can say. Weedy649- relax. BB has you brainwashed. I worked retail before, and it sucks. These kids shouldn't care, because I know BB doesn't give a crap about them.
I didn't really have too much of issue with this thread til now, but now I just think you're a bit of a hypocrit. From the way you described your story you don't give a crap about retail workers at all either. If you really worked in retail you probably wouldn't act like that, you're just being the same asshole customer that you hated when you worked retail. I don't mean any offense or want to bring hostilitity bakc to the thread, but you just strike me as a pretty pretentious person, especially after some of your comments. I'm a CAG and have been for a long time, and while I don't like some things BB does, I've never really had any problems with the service probably because I don't go in there acting like I'm better than the employees working there.
