tried to get nfl tour today with the 20 dollars off, and they refused because it was "clearanced" best buy con'd me! why put a game specific coupon if they're going to decline it...

I'm 99% sure the answer is no, but is there any chance the $5 off Facebreaker and the $10 off Facebreaker coupons would stack?

Is it possible I could go to two different Best Buys and use two coupons or do you think they will track it on your reward zone card as having been used? Yes I want more than 3.

Attempt 2: Well, today I tried to get NFL Tour for free again and failed. This time, I called first asking if they price matched their online store. Nice lady on the phone told me they did.

So I drove to the store and with hopes of doing a price match first (it's $19.99 on bestbuy.com since the regular price at store is $29.99), and then trying to use the coupon.

Initially, the cashier kept telling me that the $20 off would only work on the total purchase (not 3 ea). So I kept asking her to try it. She did, and then cancelled it before I could see the screen and said it couldn't be done.

Then the manager came and I told her I wanted to see it, and she did it and $20 went off EACH item (so it could be done). That manager called another manager because I wanted to price match with the coupon and she didn't know if it could be done. So he came and told me that the coupon couldn't be used for online purchases (well then why am I at the store?). I think he thinks that you can't price match using online prices with this coupon because it says something like 'can't be used online'... but I was using it at the store, not online... He should have said that you can't do both price match and coupon which would have made more sense.

In the end, they just wouldn't run both saying that it wouldn't work, but they didn't even try. I guess this Best Buy doesn't want to give out games for free...

Anyway, I walked out saying, "if other Best Buy's are doing it, why aren't you guys" and told them to check cheapassgamer.com. LOL.

So I guess it's all luck whether or not your Best Buy will run both the price match and the coupon through. I know it can be done since they refused to try it.

...
Attempt 3: Am going to try another Best Buy nearby.

They aren't tracking this. I went to 2 different stores and the same store twice to pick up these games for co-workers and family.

You know, since most other stores have Secret Agent Clank for $20, and this coupon is good till October 4, there might be a chance that we'll be doing this all over again if Clank gets a price drop.

I thought the same thing about Secret Agent Clank, as it is now $29.99. I really doubt BB would be sooooo stupid as to drop two titles on the same coupon, making them free. Especially when they really hated that the whole X-Blades thing happened.

Was just reported in the XBlades topic that the online price has been jacked up to $29.99. I'm expecting it to be jacked up in store as well. Pretty sure the 'free' deal is dead.

Yeah, I was coming here to say where are the new coupons too?? so wierd, but Excitebots would still be $30 after the $20 off coupon, amirite?

You're a rebel...

I'm having a hard time finding the coupon for the $5 off Cabela's Outdoor Adventures. Does anyone have a direct link?

Thanks!
M

the direct link posted a few back is wierd, it just takes you to the general page, then you go to the RWZ area, click special offers, then it refreshes. It's weird how this is set up...

Also, no more Saints Row 2 CE at the galleria Houston location. still had the shelf tag though!

Not to get off topic - but has anyone run into this problem with their reward zone gift certificates? I earned a $10 and $20 gc with their program and planned to use both of them to purchase Halo Wars for $29.99 this week. But at checkout, the cashier said she could only apply the $20 one because to add the $10 one would be in excess of the price and therefore couldn't be applied. Huh? So $30 worth of gift certificates can't purchase a $29.99 game? Is this really Best Buy's policy or was the cashier just incompetent?

I had the use the certificates because they were going to expire (another policy I don't particularly care for) - ended up getting Halo Wars (with the $20 gc) and Mirror's Edge (with the $10 gc + used that $5 off coupon).

Yes...I always buy gum or something in this case.

I would go to another BB and see if they give you the same problem.

The cashier is in the right in this one. $30 GC is 1 cent more than $29.99, you can't have left over GC in whatever certificates you're using. Just buy some gum as someone said and pay the difference.

Pwned by a penny. That's bad.

I wonder, in the near future, if these coupons are going to be better or worse when Best Buy initiates its corporate buyout of GameStop?

Here's the relevant bit:
How can I use reward certificates?
Reward certificates can be used toward the purchase of nearly any product or service in store or online. You must use them on an eligible product or service in an amount greater than the value of the reward certificate. Certificates may be combined with other offers, but they are valid on in-stock items only.
You were getting $29.99 worth of purchases with $30 worth of RZ certs. Pick up a candy bar, pack of gum or some other cheap and small item to get it up above $30. Then you could use both of them, not just the $20.

The cashier was just doing her job.
I wonder, in the near future, if these coupons are going to be better or worse when Best Buy initiates its corporate buyout of GameStop?
this is a rumor still. I think there was something about $4 billion being needed which BB doesn't have. And why would GS suddenly bow down to BB when they were the company that went after almost every single other game-only company (Funcoland, EB Games, etc.) to acquire in order to become an unstoppable force for the likes of BB and every other major retailer?

I for one would be appalled to see this happen and it'd be foolish for both companies. What? are gaming only sections going to start being built-in like the crappy music instruments and magnolia sections? nooooo!
^^^Plus gamestop is owned by Barnes and Noble and is their most profitable venutre.
Actually, Barnes and Noble spun off GameStop as an independent, publicly traded company in 2004 (NYSE:GME). They may still hold a significant amount of stock in it (perhaps even a controlling share? I haven't done, and don't care to do, that much research), but it is no longer a direct venture of the Barnes and Noble company.

However, if they do have a controlling share still, that actually might be the reason why something like that would happen. Barnes and Noble (like all of the major B&M booksellers) is in trouble right now -- things haven't been going terribly well in the large bookstore business for a while. If they have to sell off an asset to stay afloat, the one that's most profitable is the one most likely to generate the revenue that they need (maybe the only one that would). The money from the sale of a profitable stock might be better for them, at least in the short run, than the dividends from it, if they have a buyer who can afford it. GameStop themselves wouldn't even necessarily get much say in the matter.

The one time I happened to run into this situation, they had some penny game guides in stock. I ran back, grabbed one, and the cashier was amazed how I must have psychically known that the guide would kick me over by the 1 cent needed. The look on his face was priceless. ;)
