Interest in this set is completely gone for me. I wish the majority of people wouldn't buy this so it stops encouraging his idiotic edits, but of course that's not going to happen.

I don't plan on buying this for a couple of years when it's nice and cheap. I bought the DVD set when it came out and now it's cheap as shit with no resell value. Same with lotr extended Ed.

In all seriousness, I just fucking cancelled my preorder.

honestly I would rather have them re-do ALL the space battle and hoth battle effects than to add that "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" It sounded like they either ripped JEJ's NO from another movie and pasted into the movie or someone just said NO too close to the mic!!!

I think I read somewhere that they finally got rid/fixed those matte/hold out boxes you see around all the ships in space. This could have been fixed for the 1997 release or the 2004 release...wtf man? Still urks me to see a tie fighter flight THRU the MF during the opening battle of endor in ROTJ.

I am really thinking of NOT buying this release at all if he's going around fucking this up like that. grrr. Thedigitalbits, theforce.net, blu-ray.com, highdefdigest and other sites will be the final deciding factor if I buy this or not. I remembered just before the 2004 release they showed comparing shots from the 1997 SE to the 2004 release. I also remembered reading that a company was hired to redo all the saber shots in the OT. Well that didn't go well because the same shit was there and not fixed.

it wouldn't be such a big deal if he wasn't so stubborn and would just make the original cut available on the discs as well.

Lucas is really a fucking asshole. honestly.

Is this really a surprise to anyone? There had already been confirmed changes to a few things MONTHS ago. Granted, these new changes that have been brought to light within the last 24 hours or so are much more significant than things like changing the sound of Obi-Wan scaring off the sand people but does no one remember the 2004 DVD release changing lots of things from the Special Editions (which had changed quite a few things from the original 77, 80 and 83 releases)... George Lucas is obsessed with changing the Star Wars flicks.

I still have my pre-order in place because I want the full HD treatment... even though some of the effects apparently haven't been finished as previously stated by Lucasfilm. Okay, well, I guess there will be new surprises that I'll learn to hate... or love, I could end up loving some of the changes.

Nonetheless, all of the deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes stuff will be worth a good chunk of the $85 (Gold Box on Amazon) I'm planning on paying for this set. So I'm still in.

You know you're just enabling him. ;)

That Obi-Wan call is fucking unbelievable. It sounds so horrible, what is your fucking problem, George? I don't understand why he can't just leave it alone. Isn't it obvious to him that everyone hates his redone shit? I guess he just doesn't care about the people that made him and his movies what they are.

That Ewok's CGI eyes are creepy as fuck too.

Even if he releases the OT as a non special edition that would be ok. I would expect a MAJOR clean up on the picture and audio if anything thing but that's as far as I would like to see it go.

Getting rid of Jar Jar from Episode 1, now that's a change I would welcome.

Yes, exactly. That's what the special editions should have been, cleaned up pictures and nothing more. We'll get it eventually, but it may take another 5 years. Or he'll be a dick and just put the original transfers on one blu ray disc.

Read this from the guy who runs digitalbits.com thought it was pretty interesting.

"Fact is, George has been fiddling with these films for 34 years now. I know that because the second time I saw Star Wars in a theatre back in 1978 - okay fine, the tenth or fifteenth time - it suddenly had the words 'Episode IV' added to the front. George may NEVER consider these films finished to his satisfaction. So fans really need to come to grips with it at long last."

That's pretty unreal

Yeah, I'll just keep my DVDs. Vader saying no isn't too bad, but the Krayt Dragon howl change I can't get over. It's god awful and my order is canceled.

I'm only keeping the set because I'm curious to see the changes and also because I managed to get in on the $65 Deep Discount sale awhile back. If this thing sucks as bad as people think, someone's getting a re-gift for X-mas.
Pretty sure it's a joke. I heard some people talking about it a few weeks ago on one of the podcasts I listen to.
Unfortunately it is true =|

I'll still get my copy, though I'm not happy about it. Like shadow17x, I got my copy for $65 from Deep Discount, so I'm not losing that much. If it weren't for the unreleased content, I'd be passing on these.

The problem there is, you ordered from Deep Discount, so there's no guarentee that YOU will get it for X-Mas. ;)

And on topic, I've been pondering a pre-order somewhere for the last 2 weeks, when I realized that this is coming pretty fast. The recent news of these changes again appear to have just saved me the money. I'll grab the bonus feature disc from my cousin, since I know he'll get it, but I'm not buying these crappy changes yet again. I've been fooled too many times buying these movies already throughout the years.

I was excited for this but some of the changes are just ridiculous and poorly done. Bargin Bin for me (i.e. if hits a crazy price, then get; if not, why bother).

Lucas is seriously the biggest troll this world has known. He intentionally put in the "Noooo" audio into RoJ when everyone hates it and he knows that? Troll Moar lucas

I am still all over this. I pre-ordered months ago. I have a 52" Sharp Quattron and a PS3 ready to go. I can't wait.

I also agree with the previous Deep Discount statements. That company has swapped hands so many times and is in such bad shape who knows when they will ship.

wow the nerds are going nuts over some crazy shit additions and changes. Just re-insert deleted scenes from the OT, and fix the damn audio mix in the beginning of Ep 3!! so damn LOW!! for something that's suppose to be a space battle. That has always urked me from the first time watching it in the theaters, I was like "turn it up bitches!" before realizing it's not a low output from the theater speakers, it's who ever mixed the damn opening sequence. No matter what...it's still going to be a huge seller.

^I'm not even a fan of Star Wars, but I like movies and he is butchering a movie. It's really that simple.

I had no plan to buy the set, have never bought any Star Wars movie on any format and never will.

The only Star Wars footage in my collection anywhere is the Holiday Special.

I've never seen that.......you would think they would include that in the BR set.

I wonder if the guy who did the menu systems for the dvd's came back and did something really good for the BR releases? or if it's just going to be a sloppy port over.

Sorry my pre order is cancelled. I sat through the stupid remakes and even own them on DVD. I will not continue to support this crap. To each his own just a personal choice for me. I'm sure these will sell a trillion copies but my kids are not going to grow up thinking there was (or needed to be) a Nooooooo in ROJ. Sorry about the mini rant.

Only way I'll get it is if it drops to $40 or less, even if that takes years. I only care about the original trilogy and the documentaries in the whole set. I'll just try and ignore the bullshit additions they added to those. Lucas should seriously be put in a crazy house for the "creative liberties" he takes with these movies.

Lucas won't include it because it's god-awful. It's so bad it's funny, if you can get through the first 15 minutes, where Chewy's family just talk to each other in groans with NO SUBTITLES. it's ridiculous.

Maybe these things get to Blockbuster later on in life as part of the 5 for $20 sale, if they stay open that long. Otherwise, fuck you Lucas.
i bet they gonna release a double dip and contains the original audio track / scenes
You are way behind the times......you know how many times this has been released over the years?
