:bomb: The values in the Lists do not match the values in the Estimator. What's up with that?
I don't know. It seems the Lists are usually updated on Sundays, and the TIVs are adjusted to reflect the List in a few days. But as trades are made, the TIVs may change and the Lists are not updated frequently. Again, check the Estimator for latest TIV.

The promo says "Trade 2..." or "Trade 3..." but I only want to trade 1 game, will I still get $x amount?
You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. The promo is titled "Trade 2" etc to make the giftcards sound more lucrative.

The 2 games I want to trade are worth more than $60 combined according to the Estimator. Does that mean I will only get $60 for the 2 games?
No. You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. For example, if your total according to the Estimator is $70, you will get a $70 giftcard.

:bomb: If I locked in a trade online, and the value drops, will I still get the locked in value when I mail it in?
Yes. You will get the locked in TIV as long as you ship it before the "Ship by" date "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value" (as of 5/2), and your games are received in the condition you declared.

How long do I have after I lock in a trade online before I have to ship it?
30 days. Has been recently changed to "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value".

Can you lock in the price online then trade it in-store?
No.

Is there a limit to how many games I can trade in?
According to BB: "We will not accept more than 3 games of the same title and platform from a customer (or address) in a year. Please do not submit more than the limit as excess submissions WILL NOT BE RETURNED." Example, you can trade 3 copies of Portal 2 for PS3 and 3 copies of Portal 2 for x360 without problems. Some people have been banned from trade-ins at BB due to the violation of this policy. If you plan on trading more than 3 copies of a game per platform by doing it through various stores, you do so at your own risk and discretion.

:bomb: Can I trade game disc only, or do I need the case and manuals, too?
BB used to be strict about complete copies, but this has changed, and ppl are trading games in store without manuals or cover sleeve for full TIV. If you trade online it's sometimes YMMV. I would advise you to send in complete games (case, disc, manual) since some ppl are reporting only getting 50% of the locked TIV.

I see people talking about getting Amazon giftcards by trading at Best Buy. How are they doing that?
Some Best Buys sell Kindle giftcards which can be used on Amazon.com like regular Amazon giftcards. You will not get the Kindle card with your trade, but you can buy them with your BB giftcard.

When I do a in-store trade, I am asked: to be fingerprinted, to have my photo taken, how much I weigh, etc. What's the deal?
Pawn shop laws regulating trade-ins and resale of used goods varies from state to state or city to city. It is not Best Buy's rule, and varies from store to store depending on where you live.

I went to a store to do a trade-in and they asked for a Best Buy receipt. WTF?
According to BB's own FAQ:
Q: Is trade-in limited to items I bought at Best Buy?
A: No.
I don't know why this happens, but apparently some stores do not have their system setup to take non-BB purchased items at this time. Check the link above regarding stores that do video games trade-ins first.

Traded in 2 copies of PS Move Heroes for $45 with the 50% bonus. It is probably best not to try to trade in games on the same day you use the Gamer Zone Unlocked coupon because apparently it takes time for the system to process it and you might have trouble applying the extra 10%.
 
Awesome trading night :D. Traded an Ipod Touch for 70$ at Gamestop (Literally been in my closet for close to 2 years), used that to buy 3 copies of PS Move Heroes, used those to get 63$ at Best Buy (Which i'll use toward my WKC2 copy tommorow).

Tonights one of those nights i love being a CAG.

Lol, i doubt the price will drop that fast. Though im paying full price, so i guess ill have 30 days to see.

The 300+ hours i got out of WKC1 were worth the 60$, from what i played already, this game is so much better many times over

Yeah, apparently they started sometime in the past few weeks? I literally just found out a few hours ago, then realized how high some of the prices are. (Considering how old some of the models were)

Zoomed up to Gamestop to trade mine in before they either canned the program or the value tanked.
 
Traded in 5 games today worth about 100 bucks, the computer glitches out and gave me 260! The people at bestbuy were awesome and said they couldnt do anything and gave it to me. Now I can buy all the games that are coming out this year!

Why is it a bad idea? It worked fine for me.
 
Just traded in 3. Copies of move Heroes for 62.50. Made $32.50. I had to pre order Gears 3 again which was a bummer, but the guy I trade with is really cool and always asks how much I flip and talks with me bought tech stuff lol and ima call later and try and get em both cancled. It's a good thing I called my 2 GS and had them hold heroes for me cause apparently some guy came to both trying to buy all of them. Great night to he a CAG as others have said.

This kind of happened to me too...ended up with more than double the original value after a preorder bonus was applied. No idea what happened, but the computer had been freezing and having issues for a half-hour while I waited for them to fix it, so he just gave it to me. Odd, but a nice reward for my trouble.

Took advantage of the last day of BBV's B1G1, and the $9.99 Move Heroes deal at Gamestop. Turned about $65 into about $170 or so. Not gonna complain!

And, FWIW, I made sure to wait to the last day of the sale to snag any remaining good flips that were on the last copy. And the GS I hit had two more copies of Move Heroes when I left, and it was already nearing 5pm.

Do you happen to go to the Pleasant Hill Bestbuy? Because they said that their computers were not working right before and I was the first to try after they started working. Whatever the case it didnt even make any sense, because 260 is more than double 100 so I have no idea where the extra money came from haah
 
My glitches at 2 stores were 6 grand and 5 grand for 500 worth of trade ins.... no I didnt get either.... and the SKYNET identification system kept freezing and giving errors so I didnt get to trade in jack.
 
Well I was only able to track down one copy of Move Heroes (they were holding the other 4 copies between the 2 stores near me). Still I traded Singularity, Castlevania, Bulletstorm, Dead Space 2, Move Heroes, and Alpha Protocol for $113.60. I signed up for GC unlocked with my coupon and after a little fiddling I was able to get the 50% + 10%. Still miffed about missing out on the 2 move heroes but oh well. I also got the price match on Deus Ex so I ended up paying $35 + $10 credit on that game:)

I was going to get GOW3 from Amazon but I think it is time to just start my 5/100 deal at BB. I also think GOW3 has a good chance for a price drop before my 45 day return window closes.

Nope, we must've just hit it at a weird time. It wouldn't take my fingerprints and kept freezing there, so they reboot the whole system and it just came up twice what it was originally. It wasn't THAT much more than the preorder bonus, so considering my long wait, they just let it go.

How did your store get the extra 10% to work? My store couldn't figure it out.
 
The only time i tried to trade a game in at Best Buy, they refused to let me do it b/c I didn't have a receipt even thought the game was complete (manual, etc)d and in mint condition.

Do they still demand receipts?
Move heroes won't be a problem b/c i still have the receipt but I wanted to trade in some of my other ps3 games as well.

He called the manager and basically asked if he could override it or something and the manager said yes. I think even though I was signed up it was not in the system yet so they just used some other method (sorry not sure how exactly) to get the 10%.

Thanks, I didn't think it could be anything obvious because the girl who did my trade in is always helpful and she did not see any option for it.

Where do you live? Some states have funny laws and BB is required to only take trades with receipts. Not sure where though. The Best Buy website will actually say whether a store needs a receipt or if is does receipt free trading.
 
I had signed up late last week for the "unlocked" program, but the system didn't acknowledge it and I missed out on the extra 10%. I'll probably call corp to find out what happened.

BTW, I used the coupon that was provided in Sept's Gamer magazine.

ok thanks. weird. the hawaii stores are listed so i guess that means they don't require receipts anymore. will try again tonight.
 
How do you sign up for the "unlocked" 10% bonus thing?

NEVERMIND, I went back to back 212 or something and found it. Probably should add to OP. I guess I will try to sign up first and then trade some games in tomorrow.

One question, I have the Marvel UA / Forza 2 game; however, I only have the Marvel disc and the case, do you think I can trade it in?

I never had a problem trading in games without receipt at the Aiea one (they have never asked me since they started doing tradeins and i've traded in over 50 games so far), I have yet to trade in games at the town location.

Ditto. Seems like even though in-store pickup says its $40 at GS everyone is claiming once it totals out its fine. The 3 gamestops around me all say they have them in so hopefully its right and I can get 1 from each.

Yup, I believe all these games they're taking in is gonna catchup to them pretty soon. If they keep offering ridiculous trades they are gonna run themselves broke. I honestly haven't seen much of the used games stock at my store move at all. IMO I would rather pay $5 more for a brand new copy than get a used copy I can't even see the condition of (since they are all resealed to look like its brand new).

Building stock it may seem like they get a lot of games but there are maybe less than a thousand people flipping new good games they've also never done trade ins before plus they want gamestop dead.
 
You'd think they'd learn their lesson after thousands of copies of Two Worlds II ended up in their warehouse with nowhere to go.

Or maybe they know and just don't care right now to build a customer base.

yeah, what's with the ugly looking yellowish wrap? probably makes consumers subconsciously think that the used games are covered in piss and feces lol.

Looks like I got that done today just in time, three copies of Move Heroes.

Starting to pay attention more and more now it seems, if you dont hit flips the first couple of days then you are sol.
