:bomb: The values in the Lists do not match the values in the Estimator. What's up with that?
I don't know. It seems the Lists are usually updated on Sundays, and the TIVs are adjusted to reflect the List in a few days. But as trades are made, the TIVs may change and the Lists are not updated frequently. Again, check the Estimator for latest TIV.

The promo says "Trade 2..." or "Trade 3..." but I only want to trade 1 game, will I still get $x amount?
You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. The promo is titled "Trade 2" etc to make the giftcards sound more lucrative.

The 2 games I want to trade are worth more than $60 combined according to the Estimator. Does that mean I will only get $60 for the 2 games?
No. You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. For example, if your total according to the Estimator is $70, you will get a $70 giftcard.

:bomb: If I locked in a trade online, and the value drops, will I still get the locked in value when I mail it in?
Yes. You will get the locked in TIV as long as you ship it before the "Ship by" date "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value" (as of 5/2), and your games are received in the condition you declared.

How long do I have after I lock in a trade online before I have to ship it?
30 days. Has been recently changed to "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value".

Can you lock in the price online then trade it in-store?
No.

Is there a limit to how many games I can trade in?
According to BB: "We will not accept more than 3 games of the same title and platform from a customer (or address) in a year. Please do not submit more than the limit as excess submissions WILL NOT BE RETURNED." Example, you can trade 3 copies of Portal 2 for PS3 and 3 copies of Portal 2 for x360 without problems. Some people have been banned from trade-ins at BB due to the violation of this policy. If you plan on trading more than 3 copies of a game per platform by doing it through various stores, you do so at your own risk and discretion.

:bomb: Can I trade game disc only, or do I need the case and manuals, too?
BB used to be strict about complete copies, but this has changed, and ppl are trading games in store without manuals or cover sleeve for full TIV. If you trade online it's sometimes YMMV. I would advise you to send in complete games (case, disc, manual) since some ppl are reporting only getting 50% of the locked TIV.

I see people talking about getting Amazon giftcards by trading at Best Buy. How are they doing that?
Some Best Buys sell Kindle giftcards which can be used on Amazon.com like regular Amazon giftcards. You will not get the Kindle card with your trade, but you can buy them with your BB giftcard.

When I do a in-store trade, I am asked: to be fingerprinted, to have my photo taken, how much I weigh, etc. What's the deal?
Pawn shop laws regulating trade-ins and resale of used goods varies from state to state or city to city. It is not Best Buy's rule, and varies from store to store depending on where you live.

I went to a store to do a trade-in and they asked for a Best Buy receipt. WTF?
According to BB's own FAQ:
Q: Is trade-in limited to items I bought at Best Buy?
A: No.
I don't know why this happens, but apparently some stores do not have their system setup to take non-BB purchased items at this time. Check the link above regarding stores that do video games trade-ins first.

Trade-In shouldn't matter as long as it is a USA/NTSC release. We can't take any Imports even if the game is Region-Free, CERO rated, etc. UPC ultimately doesn't matter because they re-sticker the titles with a new UPC marking it as Pre-Owned after it comes back from the Refurbishing process anyways. Not everyone knows that we can just take it in as whatever UPC we want as long as the game matches. Considering that we can now take games without a case or manual.... the only way to do it is to just pick one of them regardless of the UPC. They just need to use common sense or you need to tell them about it in the nicest way possible. Or take away the case and say I want to just trade in the game then which forces them to look it up to take it as trade-in.
 
Any idea when ALL stores will do trade-ins without requiring a receipt? I'm seeing kiosks pop up at stores that never did trade-ins or required a receipt, but so far nobody is working them.

Its based off of local Municipality Laws and Pawn Laws. Its not a Company wide issue. It is a Local issue to those stores. Its not up to Corporate to change it sadly.

I also have a bunch of games unverified from almost a month ago now, including Mario galaxy,medal of honor, sims3, killzone 2 and more. The label doesn't appear anymore just an error message so I don't know if they even arrived. So lame...I wonder what's going on there. What worries me is that dealtrwe is no amazon. Promo credits for their screw ups probably won't be an option with them. Every one who is experiencing this should contact CS to have this fixed. I don't like the fact that new submissions are being processed before these missing ones.

Check the email for your trade-in submission. The link you clicked to print your labal has the UPS tracking number on it.

This issue with games sitting around in limbo has happened before. 3 weeks of waiting seemed like the average in the past.

A few on the 2 for $60 list it seems. I checked yesterday and Crysis 2 and MvC 3 were $25, now they're back up to $30. Don't know what else.

I might have to dump Marvel Vs Capcom 3 since I've barely touched it since I bought it.

I'm awful at fighting games but I find Mortal Kombat to be a pretty fun game anyways. You should give it a try if you haven't already.

If your disc has "I r pro!" written on it with a permanent marker, they wont take it. Or im also assuming that also goes for resurfacing? (It its super noticable), or a few other things of that sort

Well just got back from my local BB and saw that they had a Trade In kiosk in the video game section even though that store isn't listed on either of the two trade in location sites. Super excited about that, I was ready to accept the fact I would have to mail in all my games
 
my local BB is about to go under a big renovation in its gaming center in a couple of weeks from now. from what i understand they're supposed to be streamlining their process so it looks like game trade-in's and purchases will be a lot more efficient. makes sense since we've been hearing other CAGs reporting BB reps stating they are working on a new process.
 
Hm I tested out a GC I got a week and a half ago and it had the correct amount but today I received one for $86 so I'll check tomorrow and report back if it has the wrong amount.
 
I guess I better check the last 2 GC's I got from them, you would think with how long it took to receive the GC's from April and early May that they were being extra careful making sure they were correct.

Check your verification amounts online. They gave me 50% of estimates on 17 games. I called, they issued a second payment verification for the full amount and they are sending me the balance on a different card.

the amount on the piece of paper that the gift card was stuck on had the full amount. But when I used it today, it was light.
 
Apparently someone doesn't know how to put the right gift cards in the right envelopes when mailing them out.

Either that or they're intentionally shorting people and hoping they won't notice. Sort of like Nor-Am returning a lot of people's stuff for being 'broken' or 'incomplete' or whatever other excuses they're using.

I called customer service and they told me that i got the wrong one and a correct one was already in the mail to me. I don't know if he was bullshitting me or not.

I got two in the last two weeks, both have the correct amount. I should be receiving one in the next two days, its only supposed to have $60, hey maybe this time they err in my favor.


... last time when mine had –150, they overnighted a correct one as soon as I contacted them.

Mine have all thankfully been the correct amt. I've been checking all of them just to make sure.
