So Christmas is still a month and a few weeks off, but I'm already working on my annual Christmas compilation CD. I do one of these every year, and I attempt to put the best possible Christmas songs on it.

What are some of your favorites? Do you prefer the classics or the more modern songs?

Here are just a few of mine:

Burl Ives - Holly Jolly Christmas
Seven Day Jesus - O Holy Night
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Carol of the Bells
Coldplay - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Jimmy Eat World - Last Christmas
Better Than Ezra - Merry Christmas Eve
The Skyline Drive - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

I can fit about 20 songs on one CD, and that's all I have so far.

TVT$ - Daddy Drank All Our Christmas Money
The Ramones - (Merry Christmas) I Don't Want to Fight Tonight
Sloppy Seconds - Hooray for Santa Claus
Eartha Kitt (I think) - Santa Baby

And don't fuck around with John Denver and The Muppets "Twelve Days of Christmas."

I used these as filler on a Christmas compilation I made a few years ago and everyone loved it:

O Holy Night - Cartman
Merry fucking Christmas - Mr. Garrison
Lonely Jew on Christmas - Stan
Christmastime in Hell - Satan

Other great Christmas songs, IMO:
Merry Christmas Baby - Bruce Springsteen
Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney
Christmastime - Smashing Pumpkins
Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon
Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) - U2
My Only Wish (This Year) - Britney Spears
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Bruce Springsteen
Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid

There are a billion others but this is a start...
I've always had a soft spot for Wham's "Last Christmas" as well, hahaha
That's a great one!

At Christmas, I usually play the South Park Christmas album.

They're starting up with the Christmas music already on the radio. Today, I happened to pass by "Feliz Navidad." Didn't change it; I guess I have a soft spot for it because my grandmother likes that song and would play it a lot.

Christmas time for my penis by The Vandals is good for a laugh as well as the rest of their christmas album

Three Days Til Christmas by mu330 is pretty good

There are a couple of christmas tunes at the end of one of the Treephort cds that are pretty good as well

I can't think of anymore at the time being

O holy Night
Away in a Manger
Silent Night
Joy to the World
Hark the Herald Angels sing
The first Noel
O come all ye faithfull
God rest ye Merry Gentlemen
What Child is this (Greensleves!!)
O Holy Night.

There might be a few more, but for a Christmas song there needs to be Gospel.

1) Wham! - Last Christmas
2) Jessica Simpson - Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
3) Britney Spears - My Only Wish (This Year)
4) Erasure - She Won't Be Home
5) Christina Aguilera - O Holy Night
6) Bing Crosby - White Christmas
6) *NSYNC - Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
7) Erasure - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
8) Bing Crosby and David Bowie - Little Drummer Boy
9) New Kids on the Block - Funky, Funky Christmas
10) Pet Shop Boys - It Doesn't Often Snow at Christmas
Christmas in Hollis - Run DMC
QFT.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned my personal favorite yet.

Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses!!!

Happy Christmas (War Is Over) by John Lennon is my favorite.

Any Bing Crosby or Burl Ives is a necessity--it just isn't Christmas without the Bingster.
I have about 15 Christmas albums--Martina McBride's version of O Holy Night is the only version that comes close to Bing's.

I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned "Father Christmas" by The Kinks. That song rocks.

I think I like the version of Santa Baby done by Run, Snoop, Mase, Lil Kim, etc. a little better but Christmas in Hollis is still excellent.

I'm seconding "Christmas Wrapping" (Waitresses) and "Father Christmas (Kinks)!

12 Days of Christmas - Bob & Doug McKenzie
Mojo Nixon's entire CD - Horny Holidays
Los Straitjacket's CD - Tis the Season for Los Straitjackets
Merry Christmas from the Family - Jill Sobule
You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
Have a Homo Christmas - Pansy Division (one for the whole family)
Another Lonely Christmas - Prince
Run Run Rudolph - Keith Richards
Channuka Song - Adam Sandler
Santa Claus, Go Straight to the Ghetto - James Brown
Zat You, Santa Claus? - Louis Armstrong
Oi to the World - No Doubt
Blue Christmas - Collective Soul
Mele Kalilimaka - Reel Big Fish
Sleigh Ride - Squirrel Nut Zippers
Christmas Is a Time To Say I Love You - Billy Squier
Reggae Christmas - Bryan Adams

Oh man, I forgot about Christmas is a Time to Say I Love You by Billy Squier...that song rules. So does the 12 Days of Christmas by Bob and Doug Mackenzie. I actually can't wait until the day after Thanksgiving when two of the radio stations up here switch to all holiday music.

Yes, that's a great rendition of that song.

Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas - eels
Christmas Is Going to the Dogs - eels
It's a Wonderful Life - Fishbone
Just Call Me Scrooge - Fishbone
Slick Nick, You Devil You - Fishbone

Dave Matthews Band song called "Christmas Song." (Not to be confused with "THE Christmas Song.")

Also "Snowfall" by Claude Thornhill and a good recording of "Auld Lang Syne."

I like:

-Korn "The Christmas Song"
-Blink 182 "I Won't Be Home For Christmas"
-The Ramones "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)"
-Anything off of that Christmas album The Vandals did.

Those are my favorite christmas songs

This thread makes me feel all warm and Christmas fuzzy on the inside. Kind of like... when you finally got out of like elementary or middle school for Christmas break and you just relaxed at home and soaked up the Christmas feeling and watched stuff like A Christmas Story and A Charlie Brown Christmas all day... I loved that feeling.

Oh... what was that SNL skit with Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon and the other guys in the snow globe singing that song?

My goal in life is to have that feeling 365 days a year...

Billy West - I wasn't broke for Christmas
Dennis Leary - Merry Bleepin' Christmas
mc chris - evergreen
The Monarch & Dr. Girlfriend - Little Drummer Boy
