Best LAN games?

Mods make great LAN games like
HL:2 Source
Counter-Strike
Hidden: Source
The Gun Game
F.E.A.R Combat (now free to play)
Carball
Trackmania
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War
Dark Crusade expansion really spices up the gameplay
Warcraft III: Frozen Throne
Defense of the Ancients (best mod yet)
Tower Defense
GTA2
UT2K4

Serious Sam and Battlefield 1942 are my two favorite LAN games.

Empire Earth is a ridiculously fun RTS game that allows up to 8 players to fight at once. Only played comp-stomp rounds, though.

My friends and myself used to play several games when we would LAN including:

Quake III Arena
Diablo II
Starcraft/Brood War
Civilization 4
Counter-Strike
World of Warcraft

A more recent game that I think would be awesome for LAN'ing would be Sins of a Solar Empire. Long epic 8 hour games with your friends would be cool.

Yeah, Civ and Sins of a Solar Empire are perfect LAN games because it's hard to find random people who'll play an epic 3+ hour game with you.

Jedi Knight II/ Academy
Counter Strike (any variation)
Unreal Tournament (any variation)
Red Faction
Starcraft/ Broodwar
Serious Sam (for CO-OP)
You can LAN with WoW?
Sure... why not? Just because you're all playing on a server 8 states away doesn't mean you can't all be connected from the same room :)

Starcraft was always a good one.
Dungeon Siege was a good one also. I never liked this game multi online or single, but lan made it fun.

Serious Sam Coop (pure madness)
LieroX (a free game sort of like Worms only not turn based)
Counter-Strike
Quake 3
Warcraft III custom maps
Doom 3 Last man standing (a coop mod)
Unreal Tournament 2004 Siege, Alien Swarm, and Killing Floor (mods)
Half-life 2 Hidden Source and Source Forts (mods)
System Shock 2 coop
Soldat (another free one)
Return to Castle Wolfenstein Enemy Territory (free)
Half-Life 1 Natural Selection (mod)

Pretty much any fun multplayer game, really.

EDIT

Oh and I forgot about the Ship, a Half-life 1 and 2 mod. For HL1 it is free but you have to pay for 2 on Steam. Lots of antics...

Ya, The Ship is an amazing game. Too bad not many people play it online any more. During its release back in 2006, though, I had plenty of laughs.
