Best Music in an Anime.

The Don

I think Castle in the Sky has the best music in any anime I have ever seen. In your opinion, what Anime contains the best music.

I used to get a kick out of the music in Naruto. I'm sorta getting tired of hearing the same thing over and over each episode however.
I enjoyed the music to Cowboy Bebop.

Oh, and Ghost in the Shell tv series as well.
ditto for me.
I like the openings and closings from Bleach.
all of them? I can only say I like 2-3 of the openings & 1 of the endings. But my favorite so far out of both of them would be the ending called Life by Yui.

I like most of em. I havent seen any recent episodes since the fillers so I dont know how the songs are now.

I really liked the closings with the 13 different captains. That was a nice song.
I dont remember the names of them all but they are all loaded on my ipod.

The majority of the sountracks by Yoko Kanno are world renowned. Some of the best openings include Lain, Berserk, Tenjho Tenge, Whitch Hunter Robin, Gantz, and Steel Angel Kurumi

I really like the rockish guitar riff when shizz is usually going down and the eerie organ/techno music associated with Orochimaru.
Initial D
CRAP! How could I forget Initial D?! Still like .hack better, but that's the only other anime music I've bothered to listen to outside of the anime itself. Actually, I've never watched Initial D and still love the music, cheesy and formulaic as it may be.

agreed on

--FLCL (even though I don't normally go for poppy punkish stuff, it really fits the show well)

--cowboy bebop

--GITS 2nd Gig

--Evangelion opening and closing-- so cheesy, yet so catchy
Initial D
ahh the sounds of super eurobeat..i love the space boy track.

i too enjoyed the FLCL soundtrack..anything done by the pillows ima fan of. oi also like the cromartie high sschool soundtrack too...bikyoran still to this day owns.

Cowboy Bebop is easily the finest anime soundtrack ever created.

Witch Hunter Robin's opening and closing tracks are great, and the music as a whole is good.

"What's Up?" from Sorceress (Sorcerer? I can never remember) Hunters is a hugely addictive opening track.

I hate FLCL but the closing theme is really cool.

Trigun's opening (HT Angel?) is made of pure asskickery. One day I'm going to learn that, I swear.

I still
Wtf.

It's on Taiko Drum Master?????

That's enough to make me buy the damn thing! :( All those deals I missed!!
Yup. And even though 4Kids made the stupid song, it was rerecorded just like everything else. It's fun because of the cuttime section and not much else. It's also just as short as the original intro, no extension whatsoever.

fuck.

Now I must have it. And I bet it's not even on shelves anymore. :(

I'm only a DBZ fan from the original American dubs, back when they actually made an attempt to move it quickly, give meaningful voices, and throw in a lot of witty writing. I realize hardly anyone agrees with me on this, but if you compare the first two seasons to anything after, there's literally no comparison.

Shit. I'll have to get on this.

Also, yes. The American One Piece opening is a serious guilty pleasure. :)

I don't think it's on the game, right? I think he was just pointing out the stupid song itself.

Fullmetal Alchemist. L'Arc~en~Ciel and Asian Kung-fu Generation openings, L'Arc again for the opening to CoS, great background music, it doesn't get any better. Naruto is close, even if just for Haruka Kanata and Viva Rock. Also, Bleach, the openings are great, but I hate almost all the endings.
Initial D
if you're talking about the eurobeat soundtracks from the japan version, then I'm behind you 100%.
the music in the dub version, on the other hand, makes me want to vomit.

I did like how they censored it slightly less (ie blood), but overall, it was a weird transition that was forced to fit because it wasn't being done any other way.

And the One Piece song totally sucks. The first time I heard it, I almost didn't want to watch the show. I later got over it, but the song still sucks.

Pirates don't rap. Niggers do.
I don't think it's on the game, right? I think he was just pointing out the stupid song itself.
No, Taiko has the song on the game. Google for the song list and see for yourself.

Holy crap I miss the original Vegeta. He's only got one little scream in the intro, but hearing it makes me cry.

Surprised nobody else has mentioned these.

I remember the episode where Goku appears on Namek and beats Racoom. The line was "you shouted attack, sooo...I did." The deliverance was different/funnier when you hear it, and I was upset to see they didn't include that in the redub.

I really like FLCL's music since I love The Pillows. Ready Steady Go is pretty good and I also like Driver's High. m.o.v.e is awesome and I love their Initial D songs. Heh the One Piece song isn't that bad...

Close. The line is (I'm probably slightly off) "I saw a weak spot that screamed out 'attack.' So I did. Hah!" Then Racoome falls over and Goku says "That must be what they call the Racoome Boom!"

I mean, he was a total idiot and a total asshole and a total badass and totally niave all at once. I still can't figure out how they pulled it off that well with a translation.

Goku's line were so ridiculously hilarious in the original dubs. "Whoa, beans give me problems!" Jesus. I still get choked up watching them on DVD (and need to get all the ones listed in my TL).

I mean, they were so cheesy, yet still kind of delivered a sort of odd badassness. I can't really explain it. I mean, right before Tien dies he goes "Alright, this cowboy's going for one last round-up!" Jesus. So hilariously bad, and yet it actually helped characterize him from everyone else.

And Z-Saber, you're right - it must have been somewhere around 8-10 years ago. My friends and I used to get up at 6 AM to watch them on tv, back when you had to wait a week to see a new episode. When they repeated back to the beginning right before Goku finished his battled with Vegeta, my god was it extremely painful. It was bad enough watching episodes once a day, but once a week was torture.

Anyway, enough of my memory lanes.
Shoujo Kakumei Utena has the best soundtrack in anime history. This is not open to debate. It is a fact.
Well, I can't argue with that.

Other stuff I'm particularly fond of:

Anata no Kokoro (closing of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi)
Shiki no Uta (closing of Samurai Champloo)
All the Way (opening of Kino's Journey)
Chobits (don't care for the series, but I liked the music)
Sakura Saku (opening of Love Hina -- again, didn't care for the actual show)

Also, the music playing during the sunrise of "Only Yesterday". Wow.

Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
FLCL :)drool:)
Yu Yu Hakusho
and the original opening to DBZ in America was cool. Man that new one blows.

Ugh, they gave the second opening the P. Diddy treatment.

Here's the original second Japanese intro in all it's glory:

Damn, watching that again mkaes me wanna break out my cratefull of bootlegged DBZ VHSs that were recorded straight off of Japanese TV and fansubbed.

Most of the OSTs done by Yoko Kanno and Yuki Kaijura are good. .hack, tsubasa chronicle, arjuna, witch hunter robin...
I love the op and ed of Nana.
I am currently addicted to the ending of Nana and then the opening to Ouran High School Host Club. -.-

Cowboy Bebop's soundtrack is my overall favorite. Tank! is still one of the best themes of ANY show. Animated or otherwise.

Big O's soundtrack is VERY underrated.

I enjoyed all the Samurai Champloo soundtracks as well. A definite breath of fresh air in regards to music in anime. The ending was flatout amazing.

Apart from all the great stuff already mentioned, I'll throw out Wolf's Rain (couldn't stand the intro at first but it grew on me and "Gravity" is a great ending theme that just got better as the series progressed) and some of the stuff from Trigun; Wolfwood's final scene still makes me go all misty-eyed due in large part to the music.
That being said, Cowboy Bebop is the greatest anime soundtrack ever. :)

Wasn't the Wolf's Rain song a Steve Conte song? I remember that one was okay but "Heaven's Not Enough" is a great song.
