Best Place to get Wii for NONPREORDERS???
That's not entirely true.

General bank credit cards are fine. STORE credit cards, like a Target Visa or whatever it is, are NOT good for your credit rating. Having a bunch of store cards actually works against you.

Second, closing a card out also can hurt your credit rating.

If you're only interested in having decent enough credit to get OTHER cards you'll be fine, but when you go to buy a house, your mortgage rate (if you're approved) will be higher, the worse your rating is.
Also its key to note that to apply for a store credit card (most stores) you need to have an already existing credit history (another bank credit card) to apply/get approved. No offense to some people on the site but im sure some of you wont meet this requirement since Im sure you arent of age to have established a credit history yet.

I had posted this in the Midnite thread.. but no one has yet to get back to me :(

So I'm going to put my question in this thread since it's still on-topic. Hopefully someone can give me a clue.. :)
I'm going to my Wal-Mart at midnite. I have a question. Now I understand each store is different because of volume..and there "will be pleanty of Wii's" out there come launch.. if you are going to a midnite launch--how early do you think you should show up???

Seriously. I mean I don't wanna go there at like 4pm lol (But I DID work at this Wal-Mart..so at least I'll have people to talk to!)
I am definitely going to go ridiculously early to get my Wii at walmart. I'm planning on finding a 24 hour Walmart, taking my DS and hanging out all day waiting for it. I had been wavering on getting one but after reading all these hands on previews for Zelda I need one. Ocarina of Time is my favorite game of all time. I LOVED that game. I NEED to play the new one.

Yeah, my Wal-Mart also is 24/7. How early are you talking about? LOL My Wal-Mart has a Sub-Way..so at least I can eat sandwhiches all day waiting in line with DS!!

I'm going to WalMart at 11pm and seeing what the situation is. If it's ugly, I'm going to just wait and use my Toys R Us preorder the next day.

I'll drive by the walmart at 8 pm on saturday and I'll drive by target and best buy around midnight.. I think walmart will be the best bet for getting one earliest.. but that best buy will have the most units of any store in town

Im getting it at costco with their return policy, so when Nintendo releases some new colors Im set :p

anyone know if Costco is usually good on release dates?

Also, you can apply for the card at any time and save that 10% off first purchase, if things haven't changed. My big brother did that couple years back. He applied for the card and was accepted and waited to use the 10% off till he did some of his Christmas shopping one December day and saved around $55.

looks like target is definitely where I'm getting mine now...a store near me is getting 100 of them!

not sure about the card thing...$25 is nice, I guess but it's not a lot off...I'll save that 10% for when I pick up a PS3 :)
I've never heard of the bank/credit card company closing an account for you because of inactivity. When my parents did a credit history check last year, they found they had accounts open that hadn't been used in like twelve years. It's hard on your overall credit to have too many lines open at once, so that's probably the worst advice I've ever heard.
i have had 2 or 3 cards canceled due to "inactivity"... i was surprised when i received the letters but either way they were canceled and my credit rating is on the high side
does best buy do the 10% off for opening a credit card with them?
If memory serves, no, the only thing Best Buy ever seems to run for promotions on their Credit Card are 6/12/18 months same as cash. But then again, there's that new Reward Zone (Mastercard?) that has different deals, I'm not familiar with that one. But AFAIK, the store card only does same as cash deals from time to time.
