best villian from any RPG...

Seymour Guado is pretty bad, but Albedo from Xenosaga is the most shaq-fued character ive seen yet....Hes just creepy/ insane/ twisted...with all that stuff he was doing to all those girl androids.and ripping off their heads during all the cg sequences...DAMN..HIs LAUGH! Remember that...that crazy laugh. Albedo is up there.

hmm, i would have to say... sin from ffx, who would mess with a 40 ton blob that could destroy the world? i wouldnt.

Hmm for just your average bad guy boss Master Barf/Blech in Earthbound was my favorite, I mean come on he's a pile of puke! What's not to like? As for a major villain Kefka in FFIII is by far the coolest.

I second this vote...
Grahf and Id from Xenogears are definitely near the top of my list.
Grahf maybe, but Id isn't really a villain.

I will vote for Ghalleon from Lunar 1. Stupid assclown annoyed the hell out of me for the entire game, with his constant gloating and throwing unwinnable battles at me until the very end. I was so happy to crush him into the dirt with ease in the end.

Lol, I knew someone was gonna say it. Up until the 'twist', Id is one mean son of a bitch. I was trying to avoid saying that he isn't 'really' a villian to avoid spoiling it for those that haven't played it or are in the middle of it.

It's funny. I'm playing through it right now and Krellian is giving me a real Ghalleon vibe, with his gloating about how great he is and then not fighting me, but I've got a real bad feeling I'm not going to murder his dumb ass at the end. They've thrown way too much effort into making him sympathetic here... Miang deserves some very special gutting too, which also I doubt she'll get.
-havent played it yet...bastards...ill just wait a few months longer to play it, so ill forget the name by then....but i still will know that someone turns on me....bastards
Sorry bro, I tried to leave it a mystery. I should have known someone was gonna tell me I was wrong for listing him as a villian, in effect RUINING part of the game's plot. trust me, it'll still be cool though. At least someone didn't tell you Aerith's death before you played it... that fucking guy...

yeah, thats definitely worse...no matter how good xenogears is, my love for ff7 will never be replaced

1. Nothing is spoiled. We were both ambiguous enough in our responses, though, unless there's massive redemption in the end, I've done you a favor by putting you off Xenogears, as it's teh suck.
2. I'm hope I'm not expected to apologize for discussing villains in a best villain thread, but if so, sorry. Now, Mishimaryu, if you're here, put (spoilers) in the title for anyone else who might wander in assuming a game they have yet to play just isn't getting mentioned.

What about Kefka (FFIII/VI)? I mean, by the end of the game he's pretty much allready won, what with the ruining of the world and all. When you finally fight him all your doing is stopping him from pouring salt on an open wound. He's the only Final Fantasy boss I actualy WANTED to kill. Most, like Sepheroth, I was pretty apathetic about.

Kefka seemed more evil than most Square bosses, to me, but he had so much flair he was hard to hate.

Yeah, I almost felt myself connecting with Kefka. He is that kind of shameless, flaunting super-evil that we all wish we could be sometimes. Regardless of how menacing he was, he is definately the most enjoyable villian I can think of.

I happen to find Ramirez from Skies of Arcadia pretty disturbed.

If not him, Thanatos wasn't too bad in Secret of Mana, but that was my first rpg, so he got bonus points there.
The Great Mighty Poo
Dude, Poo was on your side. Earthbound.

My favorite villain from an RPG was Ray from BoF2. This guy was a priest to Eva, who turned out to be a demon. Not that he was a really significant character, and he was surely not "evil", but his situation made me feel for him. I mean come on, to spend your whole life in servitude to a religion that turned out to be centered around an evil demon and refuse to give up your faith even when you knew about it, how sad is that.

Oh, also I was really impressed by the Transcendent One from Planescape: Torment. If your character was intelligent enough, you didn't have to fight him at all. Just convince him, through a rather long logical debate, that he is better off joining himself back to you.

What about Luca Blight from Suikoden II?
*minor spoilers ahead (comes after about 3 hrs into game)*

He burns a village to the ground and makes a woman act like a pig to try and save her life -then,while laughing at her, yells "die piggy!!" and stabs her with his sword...it's not everyday a video game villan kills a woman is it?

*end spoiler*

For overall best character that happens to be a villian.. I'd vote for Sin from FFX. The amazing characterization and emotions tied into Sin really put me in awe of Square. I mean what other villian has had the internal strife, the emotional connection with one of your characters, the pure force, all tied into one huge package.

And Kefka, IMO is extremely over-rated.. he reminds me of a villian like Fawful, more comic relief than true villian.

Evil King Stan from Okage The Shadow/Demon King, by far is the baddest of the bad, the wordiest of the wordiest, the lowest of the low.. Ah hell just pay the 7-9 bucks for the game and just see... Seymour is a pansy compared to the evil wiles of Evil King Stan!

Rashidi (Ogre Battle) is one bad ass mutha fucka. It's not everyday a villain can appear at the very end of a game (Ogre Battle 64) and successfully orchestrate events that happen in the game.

Luca Blight--Best death scene ever! Still fighting after being shot full of arrows and totally pwning you three times. He even dies laughing while you watch in fear.

Kefka: He's just cool.

emerald or ruby. or omega weapon? she wasn't a boss really, but how about dagger's mom from ff ix?

A villian shouldn't be based on how "cool" he is...
The best villians, especially in RPG's are the one's that you absolutely hate the most...
The ones that frustrate you for hours and make you want to stab someone in the foot...
I remember when I was younger, I stopped playing my favorite game, Shining Force 2, just because I couldn't figure out the Kraken battle, I just now beat it YEARS later (about 6-7 since I last played the game)...
Now that's a villian, someone who can frustrate you for 6 years, not Sephiroth, cuz he's hot, or whatever dumb reasons people give these days...

So, if a game company put a 4 pixel by 4 pixel red square as the final boss in a game and made it's stats pretty much impossible to beat unless you play the game for years that would trump the utter lack of personality to make Boxy a good boss?

Perhaps not a great villain but she gets extremely high marks in the 'what the hell is that' category.

It reminds me of a time many years ago when I was tentatively starting a relationship with this very cute little blond FOAF. I've never been comfortable with the whole business of dating relative strangers so I was already feeling awkward when I when to pick up to go to a movie. (Strange Brew, to give you an idea how creakingly old I am.) Before we could g I had to meet her parents. Her father was alright but her mother was a horrifying behemoth. She looked big enough to have given birth to her 17-year-old petite daughter just the week before. Bulk aside, she also didn't seem to bear the slightest resemblance to her kid other than on the species level. I did my best to keep a straight face and be polite but we'd barely gotten into the car when Ican'trememberhername volunteered that she was adopted.

Wonder where she is now.
