Best way to remove permanent marker from games

Xylene or acetone. Goo Gone will do the job sometimes. I've had success with Xylene based products such as Goof Off, but don't use a lot. Too much can damage the game. Dab it on a q-tip, then use that on the game, don't pour it on directly. Try to avoid acetone if you can.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers will usually do the job, accompanied by good ol' fashion elbow grease.

This might work not sure. Take a dry erase marker and color over the permanent marker and then remove the dry erase with either wet tissue or a dry erase board eraser. This works on most permanent marker.

I tried using one of these on some marked up DVD cases. After a few minutes of scrubbing, the markings were noticeably lighter, but still quite visible. Some 100% isopropyl alcohol finished the job well. That's what I'd recommend.

If you really like scrubbing for 30 or so minutes, Goo Gone is probably something you already have sitting around and works quite well. I took off tons of Sharpie and other marker junk off of my carts with it with only a moderate amount of work.

I'd have to second the Mr Clean Magic Eraser. That thing will take off any kind of marker. On Cartridges, you have to carefull on the Labels, as it will take the color right off. For DVD Game cases and the actual cert portion of a game, it works great, just be sure to wet it some. It doesn't work well if its dry. On average, i can completely remove Sharpie from a DVD case with a Magic Eraser (slightly wetted) in about 5 swipes.

P.S> Works Great on older consoles too!!

I agree, I've used it with all my SNES games I've gotten from EB that had someone writing their name in marker on the cart. Unless it's on the label, you won't notice the difference. If it's on the label, it'll be slightly lighter.

Me too. I have a spray bottle of CD cleaner and alcohol was the main ingredient. I also use it to remove sticker residue.

Ha ha, I used to use just another permenant marker (like a sharpie) to remove permenant marker. I'd marker over what was written and then wipe it off really fast before drying. Kinda stupid, but actually works. :p
Does anyone know the best way to remove permanent marker from games? I've tried all sorts of things, but had no luck.
Well this has been mentioned before by other people, but I have had good results with a simple alcohol pad concerning removing permanent marker from discs. I've only done this on about 5 PS2 discs that i bought used from a store that branded them, but they all played fine afterwards with no signs of ever being written on after I used the alcohol swab.
