Best way to rent games?

Yes I know there's Gamefly, I tried it. It's a tad slow and sometimes I don't get games. I'm looking to rent 2 games (maybe 3) for just November so I can hopefully save some money.

Call of Duty Black Ops 11/9
Assassin Creed 2 Brotherhood 11/16
Medal of Honor (maybe)

Would Gamefly be the best bet for $22.95 for 1 month? I'm sure I can get through the first 2 with no issue in a month. Or has anyone tried Blockbuster Games By Mail?

Feedback/suggestions please:)

Honestly, IMHO I would go with the 2 out gamepass at Blockbuster. It's what I use every month and the store knows me so well that the Manager holds me a copy of the newest games on Tuesday.

Don't do BlockBuster games by mail or gamefly. You wont see those games for a long time.

Instead, do Blockbusters gamepass in store.

Yeah. I always did gamepass during the summer, and before that I did whatever Hollywood Video had.

Totally worth it. Especially since once your done, you can take it back instantly and get a new one.

So sad to see these stores go out of business...

Yes, there is a two game pass. I think it's 25 maybe? I do the Game and movie pass since it's the same price, and If there are no games I like, I just rent movies. It's a win win for me.

Why? Its always been their policy. Hell, I remember when you could buy new games and take em back within a week for a full refund.
buy used from gamestop online and you have 30 days to get a refund
Or buy used from a local gamestop store and return it within 7 days. faster and no shipping involved.

If you are going to just sit down and play constantly, get the 1 out pass at Blockbuster. You will save money and get the games you want. DON'T go with a mail service.

Not necessarily, at least for GameFly. I know BB supposedly doesn't even have games available for months after their release, but with GameFly, you simply need to know how to work the system. If a game is coming out on Tuesday, make sure that they will get your return on Saturday or Monday before it's release. I am constantly getting new releases like this. Another, less effective, method is to completely clear your queue and put whatever game you want up. No matter what the availability status, they will more than likely ship out, though it sometimes take a little longer, especially if they end up shipping it from a center that is further away from you.

I have a couple of friends that have tried gamefly and they said its pretty worthless....blockbuster gamepass is the way to go

Being that I have tried Gamefly, Blockbuster Online, and Blockbuster In-Store Gamepass, the Gamepass hands down kills any of the services. Granted, it depends on the volume at your store. My store I would go in around lunch time on release and be able to score most copies. Granted, the top titles take a while to come back in if you dont grab right away.

Gamefly is alright if you don't mind waiting a week or two for another title. When I was with them I could get the newer releases using similiar methods as was posted earlier. The problem was when I finished that game I would have to wait a week or two to get another. I would set my queue up to only have 1 or 2 titles in it (both new releases) and everytime I would get one shipped within 2-3 days after they received my last title.

Blockbuster Online was just plain not worth it. The games take forever to get shipped. Add into the fact that it takes 90+ days to get new releases. The movies take an extra 1-2 days for return/shipping than Netflix. Again, totally not worth it at all.

Takes 3 days to get to your house and not everyone has a full open week to play video games

Gamestop is not a video game rental company. It's abusing their system.

well it looks like Blockbuster is going to file for Chapter 11 protection so they might be out as well...

Hundreds of communities may soon lose their local video stores. Blockbuster — the company that helped to turn movie renting into a national pastime — is set to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, Bloomberg News reports, citing an unnamed person who knows about the plan.

I guess I must be one of the lucky ones who has never had problems with Gamefly. I've actually been quite happy with them. They've always shipped out new releases the day before it's released and I'm usually playing them by Thursday. And I'm done with that new release and have already sent it back before the next one in my queue is released. Now it's not fast enough to play a new release every single week, but I've thought ahead and figured out that I'll be able to play the ones I want the most without waiting at all (hopefully). And I'll just add and play the other ones during the dry spell from the middle of November until January.

If I've got enough free time and there are lot of games coming out, I can about 4-5 games. It's $25 (after taxes) for 2 out/time and I'm very satisfied.

Why is everyone saying blockbuster is dead after filing chapter 11? Dont drink the koolaid/buy into the hype. They will be around for a while and see significant increase in free cash flow from 2010 - 2011

I was curious so I called and the unlimited IN STORE 2 out games/movies pass is $35 a month or $22 for 1 out.

I'm currently on the Blockbuster.com $5 a month plan for a 2 rental max but they stay 90 days behind street dates so it's for backlog clearing only. I used to use Gamefly but they SUCK to and from Cincy and I eventually stopped getting new releases even though I knew exactly how to manage the queue... They eventually throttle down everyone...

Since Blockbuster quit the no late charge thing I just rent from Family video or usually try to buy from Amazon (now Kmart) at release using the $20 coupon conga lines whenever possible and then beat and resell right away unless it's a online game or a something i'll play again soon. You can always rebuy it a year later for peanuts thanks to CAG. :D

LOL at you GS renters, I have a friend who used to do that all the time, he would always brag. Some people have no shame I suppose..
