Bestbuy Gamer's Reward Zone Coupon: Singularity $40 360/PS3

Finally, an OP that directly links the coupon. Props.

Also, lol @ Amazon asking $45 for this yesterday on PS3. What a joke.

Funny thing is that Kmart had this game for $40 the week it came out and at the time it had the Prototype promo (not sure if it still does). This game is worthy of a $20 purchase, but $40 is too high. It's a poor-man's Bioshock, nothing more.

The Prototype promo ended on Aug 31.

i wouldn't say a "poor-man's" but def a dioshock clone but damn good one however i don't think i'd pay 40 bones for it but 20 or less is well worth it. My only issue with silly Best Buy is how they put the price on the coupon to avoid it going on sale and being used which just sux but i guess they were bound to start learning some day LOL!

About 20-30 too much IMO. Especially considering a ton of real AAA games are about to be unleashed, I'm not spending 40 bones on a mediocre FPS

It's not mediocre, it's excellent. You probably haven't even played it. However, sales weren't great and it came out in June, so it will be $20 by Christmas. People might as well wait to pick it up unless they're dying for something to play, which I doubt they are.

Not much difference picking it up for $40 after tax.

I agree with your price point -- however I don't get the Bioshock comparison.

The time-travel mechanic is pretty cool, the story is OK, and the powers are fun to use. It's actually a really fun game to play through. I think I spent around 10 hours on it. No worthwhile multiplayer however kills the price point for me.

All in all I really enjoyed the game and story, but considering it's beatable with a rental it's not worth $60, or $40. $20 is just about right.

This game is a $20-30 purchase. I got it at K-mart when it came out, and only paid $40.

It wasn't bad, but it's a Bioshock clone. The only real advantage here is that it's a Bioshock clone with more traditional FPS enemy/battle types. I mean, the guys are soldiers with guns that use cover, etc.

The time travel gimmick isn't used enough, and outside of the first few scenes of the game, it doesn't really make too big of a difference.

I have to say that I did really start to enjoy the game towards the end when I had upgraded everything and was just going buckwild with my time powers.
thats a month long coupon we could see a price drop by then
In talking with an employee, they stated that price drops will screw up the mechanics of the coupon completely. It explains why the Tekken 6 coupon from a little while ago never worked until they updated it in the system. HOWEVER, temporary sales will not mess it up because the base MSRP is still the same, but then you get into YMMV because the coupons now specifically state what the price should be. If you get a vigilant cashier, then they might deny the new price.

In essence, you should hope for a sale and not a price drop. The more you know. . .
No PC love, Best Buy? :[
It's funny you mention this because it reminds me of Valve bragging about outselling retail in the past year IIRC. What they fail to mention is that their numbers are often the $2 indie game sales and not full price titles. Complicate this with the fact that retailers aren't holding very good sales (or none at all) and it's easy to see why. I know that both BB and Amazon seemingly exclude PC from all their promos or future credit/GCs, so in reality Valve should be bragging about quantity and not quality.

this game is 29.99 @ blockbuster used if you can find it @ least @ my blockbuster i dont know if there all the same though

The OP has a typo. It's from Sep 23- Sep 26.

Family Video has it for $19.99 used, $1.99 shipping if you dont have one in your area.

I would have picked this up for $30 when I could have gotten Prototype for free. It has to drop some more now.

This is a tough crowd. This game "feels" like Bioshock but is far from a Bioshock clone. I really enjoyed it. The shooting was solid, the puzzles helped keep these interesting. There were also some cool boss battles. The multiplayer was also cool and veered away from the traditional deathmatch. The 1st person soldiers versus the third person monsters was different enough to be fun.

I think this is a good price if you want to try something different.

I spent my formative years (read: after I could drink legally) playing shooters on PC, so it's what I'm used to. I've tried to get into console controls because I know so many people that play CoD and Halo on Xbox, but I just can't do it. So, when Singularity hits $20 on Steam I might give it a shot :]
