Bestbuy restock on $4.99 games?

tenzor

CAGiversary!
Sorry for making another topic but I thought this would be important, I went to my bestbuy on monday when the deals started and got Chaos Legion and Lost Kingdoms for $4.99. Today (tuesday) I went to bestbuy again to pick up the Return of the King DVD and decided to look at the video games again. Besides XGRA, Motor Trene Lotus Challence and NCCA March Madness 2003 that I passed up on monday I saw 4.99 games I didn't see on monday. Could bestbuy be restocking more from the wherehouse or they were just hidden in the stock room? Because I was able to get

Crimson Sea XB
Gladius GC
Godzilla DAMM GC
Disaster Report
Rygar
Rommance of Three Kingdoms VIII
NHL Hitz Pro
Disney Skateboarding

and those weren't there the day before for me. I am going to check everyday now just in case. My bestbuy is right by my house so it won't be a problem for me.

I asked two clerks at my BB, and they both told me that if they didn't have any of the game I wanted on hand at the $4.99 price, that they would NOT be getting any more in. As always, this could definitely be YMMV.

This is YMMV. BB did not have any new $4.99 games when i went in today. Some other games were still available, maybe they sold poorly, or had backstock.

Well, one of the workers offerred to look up a few titles for me and noted that they had zero in stock and that the items were discontinued (he had another word for it that I cannot recall) and indicated that no new items would come in. He had no clue about the sale prices but showed me on his computer (without my asking) how it indicated none would come in. He suggested I try the website :)

However, there is always the possibility of a returned item or staff finding the game hidden or left in the wrong location and moving it back--so folks still should check I suppose. It's just that the chances are pretty slim.

BrerDan
(who really really wanted Wario World, Golden Sun, Skies of Arcadia, Gladius and Lost kingdoms II--but is at least happy I got Beyond Good and Evil and Enter the Matrix from the website)

All of the $4.99 games at my local Best Buy were ones that had been discontinued by the store, meaning they would never be restocked. I'm not sure if this is the case for all of the stores, but it seems increasingly unlikely that once the $4.99 games are sold, you'll ever see another copy again.
....right now...did u guys see how much ebgames is sellin ff2 for?!!! 44.99 used! and bb had it for 9.99 new, lol
Sounds like a trade in deal that wants to be abused....

the trade in for fatal frame 2 is only $12.00, so you are only making a little over a buck with the tax and everything.

Is fatal frame 2 still 9.99? They had some copies of it at my BB today, but they were marked 49.99 so I didn't really pay attention to it.

It's $26 at FYE

Wow Crimson Sea for 5 bucks? ... if only my Best Buy had a clearance section... I need on far away from the large arse mall it's next to... maybe it's time for a drive.

you'd have better luck selling on ebay.
please god, oh please lord jesus, let there be some $5 games when my dad hits them up later today :D
GL. All the BB by me are sucked dry thanks to this website. Thankfully I got a little on Monday. I'm not expecting a restock.

I went on tuesday and picked up 3 games and then checked back today (wednesday) and found 5 more that wasnt there last time. Worth a second look for most people if you BB is close.

Really? Where is that at? Last week in the houston area gamecrazys were $22 and gamestops were 20.

Restocking won't be done in terms of the store recieving more merchandise. Usually

What does happen though is that items can get lost in the stockroom and end up on the sales floor, merchandise gets mixed up and when it's straightened items pop up, and stuff that is stashed ends up back on the floor.

Occasionaly the warehouse might find a case, and randomly ship it to get rid of it. That's rare though.

Some of the best deals, like Golden Sun 2 or Matrix for GCN, weren't very available in the first place.

My BB got in one single copy today of Freedom Fighters for Cube, no idea why they got one, but it is now mine.

They also semm to have had megaman network 3 blue for GBA in the back that they brought out today.

Good Luck.

Damn, one of the three BB near me didn't even have games marked down. Twisted Metal Black was on the list, and was still $20.

Still have two more to check out though.

Well, I suppose the random checking for $5 games at BB begins... Everytime that I go in that store now, I'll have to check just to be sure one hasn't been returned or restocked. :(

yeah, I've gone back to my local BB & each time there have been new marked-down games available.
yesterday...Fatal Frame II for $9.99
today...Legend of Legia for $9.99

Yeah, I ran out of money, so I passed up The Matrix on GC, BattleBots, and Golden Sun on GBA.

I found a few, but I really wanted Fatal Frame 2.

BTW, 4X4 Monster Jam, was $30. All of my other games rang up $5, except that one.

sometimes people "hide" things on the floor. Xbox games behind dvds, etc. There's a good chance some cheap stuff will show up on the floor before the weekend (friday).

well the stock guy at my best buy says ever other monday sony gives best buy the list of games that are discontinued, and best buy marks them down to $4.99 to clear them out. So check back every other monday?

They are definitely restocking at the Modesto, CA store. Went back today and picked up Harry Potter (XB), ESPN Football (XB), Metal Arms (XB), All which werent available when I went in yesterday. Definitely double check your local BB. It may be worth your time, then again it may end up being a waste of your time..

Once again:

Monster Jam: Maximum Destruction $4.99
Monster 4x4: Masters of Metal $29.99

These games look very similar and are easily confused, but they are different.

Twisted Metal Black was on the list, and was still $20.

The one that was $5 was the non-online version. My BB has only the online ones at $20.
Damn. So the one that has the original game + the online game inside is still $20? That sucks.

I work at a Best Buy in central Ohio, and the only game we have for 4.99 is Mace Griffen for PS2.. all of the other ones listed in the other thread that we had in stock at my Best Buy were still marked at their normal prices (19.99, 29.99, etc.) So either the Media department is just really lazy and didn't put out new tags, or it's just YMMV. I didn't get the chance to actually pricecheck the games, but I'll try to do that tomorrow.
i checked two out of the four that i can go to in my area....one had restocked one game (dead to rights gc)...the other had nothing
If it is 5, you want to grab it for me?

I went to the one at tuttle mall , west side of columbus the didnt have sh!t, I bought spyro and dbz for gameboy that was all they had in the store for 4.99. I also ask some guy with the price scanner to scan a load of games none on sale.

I work at the one in Polaris, I hadn't been able to check the other Best Buys in Columbus. Our store doesn't have shit, just Mace Griffen.. and I think it already sold out.

Well, the Easton (C-bus) Best Buy only had a rack of 9.99-14.99 games for all three systems. Basically the games that have been priced pretty low for a while (Crazy Taxi, Burnout, Legaia 2, etc...). The only game I saw that was on the 4.99 list was 1 copy of Monster Rancher 4, which was marked at regular price (I didn't bother to have someone scan it). I was thinking of checking out all the Columbus BBs, but I figure gas is too expensive now for me to waste it on long shots like that.

Well, I looked for Dynasty Tactics 2 when it was announced that it had been dropped to $9.99 a few weeks back and came up empty. When I stopped in on Monday to check for some of the $4.99 games, there was a copy back on the shelf. This was before I had the full $4.99 list, so I figured it was still $9.99 - got a pleasant surprise at the register on that one. :)

No idea if that was a restock or if it was just misplaced in the store & got returned to its normal spot tho (most likely). Either way, worked out for me.

I picked up a copy of Freedom Fighters (GC) on Friday night that was just put on the shelves on Thursday at 7pm (at least that's the time the price sticker was printed).

Today I hit a Best Buy that didn't have any of the $4.99 games properly marked so needless to say there were some decent finds. I picked up:

The Hulk (XB)
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (XB)
Evil Dead (XB)
Rygar (PS2)
Bionicle (GC)
Backyard Hockey (GBA)

It looks like it's still possible to pick up some of these games nearly a week after they were marked down - as long as the price tags haven't been updated yet

Went to best buy today just out of boredom, saw about 15 copies of Legend of legaia that weren't there on monday , also a few other games I think were on the 4.99 list but i'm not sure simply because the stuff wasn't marked.

good lord just have them scan the unmarked games, if they have no price, then they need to make a price tag for it.

I picked up the hobbit gba today(it wasnt there yesterday) but I would gladly trade it for a $4.99 game that I want
