Hi Guys,

Got confirmation of a good chunk of $ 4.00 and $ 6.00 minibox heading to Big Lots in Late May or early June. Don't know titles yet, but the rep threw me a couple of bones. These are certainties:

OPERATION MANIA $ 4.00
LOKI COLLECTOR'S EDITION (There ya go Syngamer!) $ 6.00
DRIVER PARALLEL LINES $ 6.00
DARK FALL LIGHTS OUT $ 6.00
PAINKILLER BLACK $ 6.00
LOST $ 6.00
DARK MESSIAH OF MIGHT AND MAGIC $ 6.00
CSI 4 $ 6.00

That's all for now. Back to you when I know more.

PCgirl.
So it's not coming until late May/early June...fair enough. Here i was thinking someone took the only copy my store may had gotten. Thanks :)

PCGirl - I had to create an account to drop in and say thank-you for the heads up you have been posting on upcoming titles! I check this site regularly. Big Lots has gone from a seldom visited crap fest to a regular stop!

Thanks again!

lmao! well put.

and yes, thank you PcGirl!

Big Lots is the only store in my area that sells rigatoni pasta at a decent price. So I always leave with bags of pasta and PC games :p

I like their $1.69 "Stick" deodorant. It's great for wintertime (try not to sweat).

I personally enjoy the Blue Diamond Almonds they have been selling recently.

Well my Big Lots has yet to get anything new in since the middle of March.

I assume that it's because I live in the middle of nowhere or because the clerks that put stuff on the shelves are way behind in their work.

Yay! Thanks for joining the party, dude.
or Dudette, we dont judge here ;)
dudettes can be called dudes too. ;) Kinda like saying, "Hey guys!" but I hear ya, and I actually thought about that when I wrote the message.

So I recently found out Psychonauts and Just Cause are both fee games on Gametap along with others like Tomb Raider: Legend. Seems recently Gametap rehauled their site/player on March 31st. After an hour of play heres my concensus of their site and psychonauts:

Good:
- FREE!! cant beat free, just sign up for a free account
- IT's the whole game, everything is there
- (highly recommend a controller, I use my xbox one)
- can save the game (from the gametap forums I hear some games can't be saved yet due to the new setup)

Bad:
- you have to launch the game from their site, even though you download the whole game on your computer. (perhaps this will change?)

So I guess I'll be returning my copy of Psychonauts then, good thing I didnt open it. Anyway just thought I'd throw this info out there. Who doesnt enjoy free games?

Slightly off topic, but I found a random item at BL last night-- a single copy of STREET RAQUETBALL for PS1! It was $2. Anyone seen any other PS1 games there lately? It was a jewel case in a "don't steal me" plastic frame.

Went to another Big Lots last night and they had jack squat for games (other than tons of GH3 for PS2). Worst Big Lots I've ever been to.
Went to another Big Lots last night and they had jack squat for games (other than tons of GH3 for PS2). Worst Big Lots I've ever been to.
Huh? Ps2 games at BL???
they've had the gh3 bundles for months.
My Big Lots sold out of those pretty quickly.

I hope that Big Lots makes some money off that deal and starts to stock console games on a regular basis.

I am not complaining about the PC deals I have gotten though!

I am glad I didn't pay $25 for the PC version of Silent Hill 2 I grabbed a year ago.

Just got Loki Limited Collector's Edition (steelbook!!!) for $6. They had two copies, tempted to go back and get the other one. Totally didn't expect to see it when i went in today! It was like an explosion of joy and everyone was covered in my love juices.

I picked up Freedom Force vs 3rd Reich the other week, and noticed it was on the starforce list. I decided to play it anyway, and it did not install starforce. No drivers in Device manager and the starforce removal utility shows nothing.

Just a heads up that this title appears ok, at least the one I have.

I believe only the European version had Starforce.

I was at the Wilkes Barre PA Big Lots yesterday and found some things I hadn't expected to see yet.

They had 3 copies of some things, like Loki CE (bought one), Fate and some others.

Also found 6+1 Combat Pack, which has Uplink plus 6 pieces of junk.

Didn't see any Dark Messiah.

I'm just confused because I didn't think that these titles were supposed to show up just yet, plus I gathered that titles like Loki CE were supposed to be one per store.

HUGE shipments at my local Big Lots. Heavy on Loki CEs (I got one just because of Syngamer's ranting and raving.). No EU3s though.

Lots of 6+1s. Lots of Universe at Wars (I am considering cleaning those out just for the 1 month Live codes.). Scored me the only Plantasia, a UaW, and a Mark Ecko.
Hmmm, anyone seen EUIII yet? My BL had every Paradox game but that one.
EUIII is the game i'm on the lookout for next. As for Loki CE, i was only ranting and raving about it because it comes in a nice steelbook case (as you saw). Haven't had a chance to try the game yet, has a 61 on Metacritic but i'm sure if you factored out the lowest score (20), the avereage would be higher. The reviews in the 70's and 80's seem fairly respectible.

I got a copy of Loki as well as a copy of Penumbra Overture and Penumbra: Black Plague at my local Big Lots.

They were the only copies left and the shelves were completely stuffed full. I wasn't sure if they might have just shelved a portion of the order and ran out of room. Games get sold so damn quickly that the other copies of the games might have just been sold out before I got there.
Hmmm, anyone seen EUIII yet? My BL had every Paradox game but that one.
Around a year ago, yeah, when the first wave of Paradox stuff shipped. But not lately.

Is Kane & Lynch showing up at Big Lots yet? I see it at Half Price Books but they've jacked the price up to $10 there.

I'll never play EU3, but I may as well grab it. it'll go on the pile with HoI2:D with crap I'll never touch.

Wait, what? Syngamer, you ONLY wanted Loki CE for the steelbook case?

You giant girl! :p

I haven't tried the game yet, but yes, i collect steelbook case games. I'm really hoping EUIII shows up at my Big Lots in the next shipment.
Is Kane & Lynch showing up at Big Lots yet? I see it at Half Price Books but they've jacked the price up to $10 there.
I saw a copy of Kane & Lynch a month or so ago at my Big Lots...

We're not shipping Dark Messiah until late May. Look for it in June. $ 6.00.

We've had tons of EUIII and EUIII Complete, but we've never shipped it to Big Lots since they cost too much. We have however recently had EU III Complete remade for us. And will ship to BL. Look for it in June. $ 6.00. It will however not be quite as nice and heavy as the original.

PCgirl.
I found Loki at my Big Lots today, I didn't pick it up since I don't know anything about it... is it good?
It has a 61 on Metacritic...

And if you factor out the lowest score (20), the average is much higher.

Ever heard of Titan Quest? It's like that (Diablo clone), but with Loki as the antagonist.

Are you really worried about buying a possibly bad game for $6? :p
It has a 61 on Metacritic...
Yeah, I know. I just wanted to know from a CAG's perspective since a few people have picked it up.
And if you factor out the lowest score (20), the average is much higher.

No I haven't, but I do like Diablo.

Absolutely, you can buy "good" games for a little more than $6.00 if not cheaper. Why waste money on a game that sucks when you can buy something that is worth playing? That is why I'm inquiring about it.

I already stated i bought it for the nice steelbook case. Even if the game is 'meh', it was still worth it to have it in my steelbook case collection.

Cool.

I don't get the appeal of steelbooks. Anyway, I went back and it was gone so whatever.

Didn't see it posted on the list, but I found SimCity Societies for 4.00 last week. Bought it even though I dislike the Simcity game, might give it a try.
Hi Guys. Would be a $ 30.00 retail with the guitar. Would it sell?

PCgirl.
That is a GREAT deal ... actually, AMAZING. However, it is a hard call. I assume that the majority of BL customers (not all, but the majority) are low-income; so, they are more likely to have an older computer that can't run it. You are likely to get a lot of returns on this one.
Hi Guys. Would be a $ 30.00 retail with the guitar. Would it sell?

PCgirl.
Like Hordak said, it needs a VERY powerful PC because it was a very bad port. (it's not just an issue of older computers, it doesn't run particularly well on a LOT of computers. They didn't optimize it well-- or at all-- for the PC) So I'd agree you might have issues with returns.

Hmmm, the version of EUIII Complete that I've seen at Best Buy doesn't include a paper manual; hopefully they can't get it flimsier than that (unless they actually have the flimsy version) :D

I'd pass, personally. As others have said, crappy port, high system specs, not worth it.

While it's a good deal, I would probably pass for the same reasons the others have mentioned.

. . .but not so much for the same reasons - I'm much more of a turn based strategy or RTS gamer - and my wife and I sometimes play the Big Fish hidden pictures stuff together. I played Guitar Hero on a friend's XBOX and found it comparable to a hearty tooth flossing in terms of enjoyment level. They, however, love it.
Hi Guys. Would be a $ 30.00 retail with the guitar. Would it sell?

I'd buy it at that price if I didn't already have it.
Hi Guys. Would be a $ 30.00 retail with the guitar. Would it sell?

I think the key here is that its for the PC. Guitar games are primarily made for large tv's and best with friends. I cant see huddling my friends around my computer...

I would never get it no matter the price because I have an xbox 360. I kinda see it like an RTS on a console. You can do it, but it can't be as good.

Some people have said they hope Big Lots starts carrying console games (beside Guitar Hero). Well, you're in luck! I saw display racks at the registers with Wii games (all $18.88), DS games (all $13.88) and PS2 games (all $8.88).

The problem, though, is that all the titles are pretty much shovelware that you can find elsewhere for cheaper (if you were actually interested). Some PS2 games that offered at least a glimmer of hope were Jak X and Twisted Metal. But nothing worth making a trip to check out, IMO.
