CAGiversary!

Thought this was worthy of a new thread. Its back! And with a vengeance. As of this writing its at [see title]. Link

And for those that dont know, the amount of uses for this promotion seems to be doubling at a steady rate, now at 40 uses per account, and the maximum amount you can get back PER A SINGLE TRANSACTION was reduced from $250 to $200. The total culmulative cashback allowance is capped at $2,500.00 per calendar year.

How this works:

If you dont already know about this, its a very simple promotion offered by Microsoft in order to promote usage of their search engine live.com. All you have to do is go to www.live.com and search for something common, like "Wii" as in nintendo wii. In the Sponsored sites at the top you will see a link to Wii's on ebay with a small logo next to it that says Live Search Cash Back and below that "You may get xx% off paypal eligible". When you click on the cash back logo it takes you to ebay and BIN (Buy It Now) auctions for Wiis. From there you simply use the ebay search function to find the BIN auction for the item you desire and purchase it. When you click the BIN button prior to clicking on Commit to buy you should see a message below with the Cash Back you are eligible to recieve. Once you buy the auction pay for it with paypal and give it an hour. Eventually you'll get a message in your ebay account saying "You've earned cashback" simply click on it and follow the instructions. If you dont have one you'll be asked to create a live account. I believe most people will already have an existing live acct due to their Xbox, MSN, or Hotmail associations so feel free to use that if you like. This is quick, and thus far i havent gotten any spam due to it, nor have i read of anyone getting any spam. And thats it, 60 + 15 days later [they allow a buffer period incase you return what you bought] you can redeem the money.

So to summarize

1. use live.com search engine to find any product on ebay. Any keyword is as good as another, hence i used "wii" as an example.

2. Once activating the link use ebay.com to browse for the Buy It Now auction you desire and purchase and pay with paypal. Wait until you get a message from ebay and get your cash back with your live account. This can take a few hours.

3. ~75 days later its in your pocket. [60 days before you can redeem and then an additional 2 weeks before it actually transfers into your paypal account]

Again this is just a promotion by MS to promote use of their search engine, theres no catch. You dont have to promise your first born nor random legs or limbs. Its as simple as it sounds.

Some things to note

-This promotion is limited to only US residents.

-You must pay with paypal and it must be a BIN auction.

-It takes about 75 days to recieve the actual money which will be in the form of a FEE FREE deposit into your paypal account. From there you can spend it or transfer it into your checking or simply request a check.

-If you return the item you purchased and used the promotion on you LOSE the refund.

-This is only valid for Ebay user/store auctions on Ebay.com. No live auction or ebay motors etc.. Though i think you can get away with buying international auctions you're watching on ebay.com. I also noticed that this works if you're offered a "Second chance" on an item you bid on since it turns the auction into a BIN.

-You may only use this a maximum of 40 times per ebay account per person. A few people are reporting success using different ebay accounts with the same cashback account in order to achieve more than 20 uses. YMMV.

-Maximum of $200 back PER AUCTION [$2,500 Cap per account] and the percent savings does vary and can change without notice.

Rest of the terms are here:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html

I recommend at least skimming them. Enjoy.

Couple additions

"Instant" Cashback is now available. However, to quote "Instant cashback will be eligible for some, but not all users." Its unknown what the criteria is to be "eligible". I would not suggest you make a purchase unless you dont mind waiting.

Ebay/Paypal Coupons WILL stack with this. The amount is deducted off the full auction value. IE 10% Coupon applied to $100 purchase will save you $10. If the Cashback percent is 25% you will still get $25 additional back for a total savings of $35. Usually the Ebay/Paypal coupons have a maximum savings of $100 for a maximum total of $300 saved on any single purchase. This also stacks with other promotions run by Bigcrumb/ebates where you can earn some more money back based on an items selling fees.

just used it right now; worked perfectly. purchased an 80GB PS3 for 38x.xx, getting $111 cashback. finally get to play the BD collection i've been building. oh, and the cashback message appeared in my eBay messages within 2-3 minutes!

thanks OP and everyone who helped to compile the pertinent info!

Ughh, what a fucking nightmare. Bought a 360 controller, only for PayPal to deny me use of my credit card: "This card cannot be used for this transaction. Please choose a different way to pay, or add another debit or credit card to your account" despite the fact that Amazon thought my card was perfectly acceptable this same afternoon.

And so I contacted the seller telling him that I'm having problems with PayPal and he refused to cancel my order and is now demanding I pay him via money order. And if that's not good enough I have another seller sending me harassing messages because I asked him a question about the condition of his object: "PLEASE COME DOWN BY MY HOUSE I WILL GIVE YOU MY ADDRESS I AM NOT NO PUNK I WILL TAKE ON ANYONE! IF YOU ARE GOING TALK THE TALK MAKE SURE YOU CAN WALK THE WALK!"

Ugh. I hate eBay.

That's ridiculous, have him do a Mutual Agreement (not to complete transaction) invoice so he gets his fees back and you don't have to pay for the item. It's not like he can leave you negative feedback anymore either.
Same here.. is this a dead deal ?????
today is my first time trying it and it's still up for me, so it's not a caching issue or anything, and it's definitely not dead -- at least, not for everyone.

but it is odd that it's acting so sporadic.

So you click "Buy it now" and then you're supposed to see another page before you get to the confirm payment option? I just tried several items and didn't see anything. Add me to the list of people who can't get it to work, I guess.

Just to clarify, it is normal to buy something, get a message from ebay saying you earned cashback, then not see anything at live.com?

This is very normal.
It will typically take 1-2 days for the cashback to show up in your Live.com Account as "pending", with a countdown for days you need to wait to get your money.

Thanks.

One more question: Do you have to pay immediately? Could I buy something, commit to buy, then actually pay for it in a few days? I'd still get the cashback thing, right?

For some reason ebay keeps telling me I have an "alert" at the top. I've read everything they've sent me. It won't go away.

I've noticed, though, that once I click on the alert link on top it shows the cashback image. I don't think you can have an alert at the top and the image.

How do I get the alert thing to go away?

Well I'll be able to verify in a few days that the cash back is good, I reached my 60 days for the payout on and Xbox Elite/games/controllers bundle I bought and cashed out my $125 back. So far everything looks good.

I thought under the old terms you were limited to 6 transactions AND $250 cash back TOTAL for your account, which seems realistic and pretty good, but if they've really changed to $200 per transaction for 12 deals then that is just amazing.

well I sure hope it's been changed to 12, because used my 7th on Gears of war 2. It would suck if they decided I shouldn't get my $17.07 back, because I already have 6 30%off transactions.
That being said, I think I'm officially done now. I would opt in for resistance 2 as well, but I think most of my PS3 time will be spent on LBP.
I'm so thankful that October is a 3 paycheck month for me.

BTW, I WAS able to get the extra 10%off coupon to work just fine with the Gears purchase.
I purchased a PS3 last week from a seller with fairly good feedback, but they have since been kicked off ebay and my purchase was removed from my ebay. Now I have to file a paypal claim. Very frustrating
I'm going through the same thing. I purchased a Wii from a seller who's been kicked off and they have till the 21st to respond to paypal.

Could it be that it's just broken right now and not that it's dead? If it still comes up on Live.com search, and clicking it doesn't work, then something's just weird right now.

Whenever it was dead before, the link from Live.com would just be gone.
As others said, just spam new tabs until it shows up.

Just got a pair of Sennheiser HD280's for $63 after cashback.
Arghh. That's another thing I need to buy. New headphones... I thought I was set for a while.

Working like a charm now. :) If you don't see the 30% off banner on eBay then try clicking on the link that leads to your messages. After I go to that page I see the banner and I can complete the deal. Just got Far Cry 2 PC for $40 shipped and Little Big Planet for $36 shipped.

get ready; they're tight as all get out! i have a medium-sized head and they're incredibly snug. my wife is shorter and smaller with a much smaller head and even she agrees they're awful tight. if you find them the same, give the Sony MDR-7506 a shot: they're almost identical sound-wise (yes, i own both pairs), but i little more "airy" and just a shade less low-end response.

speaking strictly on quality, i find both to be excellent budget phones, with the real difference coming down to design and comfort. some people love the grip of the HD280s, so you might be all set. just keep the Sony pair in mind if you decide the Sennheisers aren't for you.

good deal, by the way!

I'm not sure how many CAGs are purchasing iTunes gift cards on eBay using this deal, but I thought I'd send out a warning to any CAG interested in purchasing one using Live Search to get cash back.

I recently purchased a $200 iTunes gift card (the code was e-mailed to me) for $85 before cash back. When you think about, that's an amazing mark down. That's less than fifty percent of the retail value before cash back. One has to wonder how the seller can afford to take such a loss (and in many cases, how the seller can afford to repeat this sale almost a hundred times).

Well, after using up about $20 of my iTunes credit, I tried to download a song (The Rolling Stones Play With Fire ironically) and iTunes said that my account had been suspended. After contacting Apple Customer Support, I found out that the gift card I had purchased had originally been purchased using a stolen credit card, and the card owner had issued a chargeback.

Fortunately, they decided that a temporary suspension was enough and I was allowed to keep the songs that had already been downloaded. This is not the situation in all cases though. Some iTunes users have been permabanned and their iTunes accounts deleted.

So basically, just be careful if something looks like it's too good to be true. If anyone needs more information, please go to:

Thanks for your time, and eBay safely.

Ouch, that sucks man. But even buying a $200 dollar iTunes gift card for $200 on eBay with this deal would make it pretty sweet. 60 bucks off for free :)!

Great post--I just bought one of these $100 ones. My question is what ebay user you bought it from. I bought from one who had high feedback at 100% rating--what about yours? I'm wondering if it's the same guy.

Edit: Just found out that the seller had all of his current auctions taken off ebay--and his past auctions as well.

Can you do a paypal chargeback for something like this?

Don't forget about items like bubble mailers with this deal. If trade or sell alot of games those #2 mailers can add up. I just scored some for $.16 each after cash back. In the past the cheapest I can get even buying bulk (1k or so) (except for a rare sale) is around $.18 or $.19 each. I think my seller was valuemailers (I have bought from them in the past via amazon without problems) They sell 100 for $22.95 with free ship minus cash back for a total of $16.07 per 100. I know alot of time I see goozex trades come to me in the usps padded envelopes that cost over $1 each.

Thanks for the tips, I also wear glasses so I might have to switch to contacts when wearing them so they don't squish the frames into my skull. I've heard people even suggesting putting them on a large ball or stretching them for a couple of days. I'll make sure to give the MDR-7506's a shot if the HD280's are too tight.

great tips im really happy iv saved quite a bit. many thanks

Nope its always been a per transaction limit, never a cumulative amount.

The original terms were $250 per transaction for 3 transactions. It then changed to $200 for every 6 and now $200 for every 12.

Just got NBA 2k9 for $34 shipped.

This has been great, but I've also ended up spending much more money than I had anticipated. Still, I've spent $190 (which included $20 already off MSRP) and gotten $50 back, so that's nice. 26% average savings (I got one item at 20%) :)

I have had a used, but in very good condition, Crimson and Black DS Lite (w/ AC adapter, extra stylus, and plastic case) on my TL for awhile and been unable to sell it. Would anyone be interested in it if I threw it up on eBay as a BIN for $105 shipped? If so, drop me a PM. I also have pics if you want to take a look (at the DS...not me).

I know that it is suppose to take 75 days, but to those who have used it, did it actually take that long to receive that money. Now that is the question.
