Wow, what is up with the lack of love for the PS3 version of Infinite? I can't be the only one playing this on the PS3, can I?

I'm going to start playing this soon, gotta finish up Ascension first. I wanted to re-play the first 2 Bioshocks before playing but I just don't have enough gaming time nowadays.
gonna do a normal play through first then the 1999 mode with no dollar bill machines used.
Same here.

I'm trying to platy this... but the collection tracking fucking sucks.

1999 mode is probably going to be really tough, compared to hard difficulty in the original Bioshock (yeah, no Vita Chambers but you could save anywhere).

What do you mean about the collection tracking?

1999 really isn't that bad. More about money management, really. Few tough fights, but overall it's not much harder than hard. Taking 200% damage and dealing 50% definitely makes you play carefully though :)

I don't mind the collection tracking in Bioshock for some reason. I got all of them in the original and plan to get them all in this game as well. I think I must have almost all of them so far
Just finished the scene where Elizabeth murders Daisy
, and will definitely get the ones I do miss on future playthrough.

Like how you can't see how many of the Voxophones/"sight seeing things" you have unless you pick up a new one. If you replay any parts of a level and you get one that you've previously had, then you don't see the pop up. There's nothing in the menus that keeps track of it, nor can you see how many you have if you use the chapter select option. I've read that the only time you can see what you've collected is after you've beaten the game.

Basically, if you beat the game and get 79/80 Voxophones, there's absolutely no hint as to where that single missing Voxophone is. You have to start from the beginning and get every single one again... that, or have a perfect memory.
I just finished it today. Loved it!!!!! Best game I've played in a while.
I believe I am getting close to the end. Is the ending as good as most people seem to be hinting it is?

if youre going to actively go for the collectible trophies, you must follow powerpyx's video. if you dont want to do that, then you really have no one to blame but yourself. im missing 1 voxophone right now, but i know its in chap 26.

im digging this game. excited for my 1999 run but i dont think itll be to bad with maxed out salts and upgraded possession.

I should blame myself for not wanting to use videos/guide and potentially ruin the story/game? Since when is it mandatory to use guides to play a game? Some of these Voxophones definitely explain crucial parts of the story and the videos explain the history of Columbia. Missing them is a detriment to the game.

Nearly every game these days has collectables and gives you an easy to use way to track them. In this game, the only know to know how many Voxophones you have is to literally track manually from the menus. With Sighterseers, you can't even do that.

I'm not saying I don't use guides, but I only use them when I absolutely need to... not because a game doesn't let me see my stats. So far, I've had to beat a chapter, then go and look up what I've missed. I've had to replay three chapters but luckily, none of them took long.

But I digress.

I think I'm 2/3s of the way in... and the game definitely got weirder, but it finally feels like the game is establishing its own identity rather than follow the original.

watching a video to see where the collectibles are doesnt ruin the story/game at all. its not like the video posts spoilers. powerpyx shows where the next collectible is and stops to show the next one. not huge hunks that give away any story. you just said missing them is a detriment to your enjoyment of the story, so why not watch a video showing where they all are?

guides are practically mandatory for collectibles now a days. id rather not meander around a level(or levels in this case if you dont know exactly what you missed) looking for some dumb collectible that is usually put there just to extend gameplay by an hour or two.

same reason why crystal dynamics TR has that dumb prestige trophy in their MP trophy list.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the experience using the Move? Is it easy to tweak? I usually get all my multiplats on 360 but the Move support has me intrigued.

I tinkered around with the Move controls briefly and found them to be pretty frustrating at first; they were super-sensitive and I kept looking at the ceiling and spinning around. After adjusting some settings and re-calibrating it was better but I had to keep re-calibrating to keep them consistent.

It could have been my setup-maybe a little cramped for the Move camera, but I'd like to go back and try again if I have the chance. The batteries on my Move controllers needed recharging so I didn't get very far.

I heard the PS3 version is better graphics-wise anyway, and it also comes with an on-disc copy of Bioshock, so why not get it anyway?

It's hard to reference it without spoiling another game, but all I'm saying is that there have been other games in recent years that have had a similar twist at the end, and no one really seemed to give a shit.

Not a bad story on the whole, but I definitely hoping for something more unexpected and nuanced.

I honestly didn't care that this game didn't have the major twist. I don't think Levine wants to become the Shamallamalalan (whatever that guy's name is) of video games and try to build everything around a single twist. The game was more focused on the story telling and Elizabeth's character, which I think made the story more enjoyable than the originals.

With all of that said though,
my jaw dropped when they sank to Rapture. The entire game finally started to make sense and the name "Bioshock Infinite" did as well. I thought all the quantum physics stuff was a Red Herring, but it definitely tied out.
Then again, I wasn't expecting the game to have such a twist at the end anyway. The original Bioshock's and Metroid's twists are probably the two best in the history of gaming... it's very difficult to have such an unexpected twist in a game.

I'm near the end of my 1999 play through.. it was definitely fun playing this game again and noticing all the new elements/details.

I finally got to play my copy with the Move this morning. Everything about the Move setup is awesome/better than using a DS3 except for the melee controls. Those mother fucking melee controls. Even if I do manage to land a hit/execution correctly it's next to impossible to center your screen immediately afterwards, making fight encounters waaaaaaaay too difficult to control. Executions were a little easier since the motion wasn't as jerky and you could recenter the cursor during the death animation but it was still hard to deal with. Is there some way to mitigate this? If not, I might have to go back to the DS3.

For aiming I found that turning the deadzone completely off, the turn speed up to max and the sensitivity one or two steps up from default was ideal for shooting/moving. I know this makes the melee situation worse but it provided better-than-DS3 results for everything else.

finished it thursday night. great, great game, really enjoyed the story. don't want to spoil anything (tangent: what's with the major gaming web sites posting spoiler vids and podcasts less than a week after the game came out. really infuriating.) but there were a few moments
1984 NY
that were simply jaw dropping.

For anyone using the Move, I found out what I was doing wrong with melees. Instead of swinging the Move, just twist it like a doorknob. It's still not great but at least now I can survive a whiffed execution prompt.

Quick question to you PS3 players. I actually played this on the 360 via rental. I was very disapointed with the graphics. Basically you could play with vsync on and the resolution or textures seemed to look low and fuzzy. Plus it made the controls less responsive and floaty feeling. Or you could turn v sync off and have pretty much constant screen tearing.. seriously, it was like 80% or more i bet.

Does the PS3 version run any better? When i go to buy it im not sure what system to snag it fore, but i was ceratinly NOT impressed with the 360 version. Does turning vsync on the ps3 version make the game look way fuzzier? And add input delay?

I've never played with v-sync off but when I was using DS3 there was definitely a little delay. IIRC I was able to monkey around with the sensitivity settings to mitigate it a little bit but it was never perfect and felt floaty. There is NO noticeable input delay with the Move though, and apart from the melee problem I posted about above it is the way to play the game. Graphics looked fine to me, don't know how they compare to 360.

Working on my 1999 playthrough now. So far on Shanty Town and haven't run into any major problems. Died twice, but both times were my own fault. After playing through the game multiple times, I can honestly say this is my favorite Bioshock. The overall setting, the characters, the narrative... pretty much everything to me is better than the original. And this is coming from someone who thinks Bioshock 1 is one of (if not the) best games of this generation.

I had a bit of trouble with the first few areas but you learn to adjust pretty quickly. I actually had less trouble with my 1999 play-through than in my normal mode play-though. Being familiar with everything definitely helps.

Just wait until you get to the Siren fight... those were a bitch unless you look up some tips/tricks.

Got up to the beginning of Hand of the Prophet and stopped for the night. Beat all the Siren fights on my first try with 0 deaths using a fully upgraded Charge + Burning Halo/Brittle Skin gear combo.

Just finished 1999 mode and got the Platinum. Wasn't too bad, just read up on strategies and tips before I started the run and got through it without too much trouble. Finished the last fight on my first try with 0 deaths :) Honestly, after playing through it 3 times back to back, this is probably my favorite game of this generation and one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. Heres hoping the DLC is as good as the main game.

I was thinking about the DLC and here's what I'd like to see.(I think they said 3)
1) Booker Dewitt, P.I. - Booker in NYC, with a dash of How I Met Your Mother.
2) Anything about the Lutece's
3) Story stuff where you play as Daisy Fitzroy.

Yup. That's the trick... before someone discover that, it was a nightmare. I almost gave up but then someone posted that and it was easy. Actually, I didn't even have the fully upgraded Charge and I was able to do it.
LOL That part got me too!
i jumped like 10 feet high. My friend who was over laughed at me...but I saw him hop a bit too.

Started my 1999 play-through and am enjoying it more. It's slow place and you really have to search for a lot of stuff. I advise you to upgrade your shield 4 times then magic 2 times and from there upgrade between those two (shield is great) with health being your last upgrades.

Late to the party because I had the previous games on the backlog. Had them on PC but never beat it, and lost interest in PC gaming in general.

Went through all 3 games back to back on PS3, was fun! Managed to not have the game spoiled, which is hard now-a-days. Well besides
tears, but the trailers/etc had Elizabeth using tears in what appeared to be alternate dimensions(that we'd recognize as our world).

As for Bioshock Infinite, my favorite scene was the guitar in what I think was the (optional, gah!) basement of the bar in Shantytown. I was not a fan of the 2 weapon swap fest in Infinite.

The story is great, but I can't believe the 2nd DLC isn't even out yet. I don't know much about them (avoiding spoilers) but I get the impression the 1st was not worth $15 or even $10?
