There's ways around that.

Whoa.
Can't wait to pre-order from playasia once it becomes available.

It is most definitely coming out in the States and it's just a matter of time until it's announced. My guess is we'll see it announced closer to the holidays so that Japan will have enough systems for the MH3 push.

According to the list in the Nintendo E3 Press Kit, MH3 is coming March 2010.

Reggie also confirmed MH3 in an interview this week, IIRC.
Whyyyy couldn't they just release one that's at LEAST 720p!?
My guess is that the Wii's processor isn't up to it. That's, of course, just a guess. It isn't a complaint on my part as I'm perfectly happy with the graphics the Wii has. Excitebots looks fantastic on our 720p HDTV, for example. I expect Punchout to look superb too, as it did on the Gamestop's display when I played it. Maybe I'm just not so picky - I also think upscaled DVDs look great on our TV and don't see myself going BluRay any time soon as the slight difference doesn't seem worth it.
I've waited to buy a Wii until it was available in black.

Now it is available . . . in Japan only?
Because Wii sales have been down for a long time in Japan. They don't need to release it in the US. If US sales really start to dip I would assume we'll see the black Wii released here.

The black Wii looks cool and everything, but I can't afford to fall into the Nintendo color trap these days.

That clasic controller pro on the other hand, needs to be mine. Any other features besides the grips?

I've seen a chronicling of all the changes, but basically: grips, the secondary shoulder buttons are aligned like a Dualshock instead of the bizarre way the current CC has them, and the sticks are slightly further apart from each other.

I think the cord is in the back too, aye?

Sounds good enough to me. I always thought the current CC design was almost there, but it didn't feel quite right.

Count me in this boat as well. At first I wasn't going to even consider a Wii this year but then I got ahead of myself and started looking for deals anyways. With the possibility of a black Wii on the horizon there's no way I'm picking a white model up.

I just preordered the black Wiimote and black Nunchuk from Play-Asia.

At least I have a couple months to sit on it, haha, and wonder if I still wanna go through with it

you can buy the right type of spray paint at lowes or home depot and have it any color you want...

You say that like it's as easy as tying it to a string and spraying away ;)

Doesn't opening the Wii void teh teh teh warranty? Vinyl dye doesn't hold its finish perfectly on controllers either.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't want a black Wii.

But if Nintendo ever releases that green Wii they showed concept pictures of back when it was called the Revolution, count me in.

Have you ever went black, with a console? They say you never go back.
So would Nintendo.
True, but they went Purple in between... Does this mean the N64 was a bruise and the Gamecube was that bruise healing?

Fuuuuuu I don't know if I can hold out until this thing releases stateside or just get a cheap white one now and then a black mote/chuck setup this summer.

Oh fuck! I want that red DSi. Like in a bad way. The black Wii is nice and all, but that Red DSi will be mine. Now, I've got to figure out what to do with my matte blue system.

I had the weirdest dream today. I dreamt that I got a black AND red Wii, so I thought, why two? Then I just couldn't find them. Objects just seem to disappear in the dreaming world.

I would want one because everything else in my entertainment center is black... but, don't want it enough to buy a new one.
I would want one because everything else in my entertainment center is black... but, don't want it enough to buy a new one.
Yeah, me too. It would look very nice with everything else on my entertainment center. My TV has a glossy black finish as does my PC and PS3.

think nintendo would somehow make a special app that would copy over data? They could reprint that money that the wii is still making...
No. DO forget about the zapper.
Yeah, that thing sucks. They should have made a peripheral that directly interacted with the Wii for button control instead of having a trigger that often has problems pushing itself against the Wiimote's own trigger.
It's very tempting to sell my white Wii for the black. I've wanted black ever since they first showed off the multi-colored Wiis. Too bad we'll probably never see it here...
Just give it some time. Colors for both the N64 and Gamecube didn't come out in the U.S. until late in those console's lifecycles.

The Wii is supposed to be more powerful than an original XBOX, which did have a few 720P and 1080i games. Thus you'd think it COULD do some stuff in high definition albeit with sacrificing some other graphical aspects.

From what I've read that's just not possible, apparently the Wii's frame buffer (where it stores individual frames while it's rendered on screen) only has enough memory to store SD frames, not HD frames.
Damn I am jealous. I am hesitant to buy without a black motion plus to match the set however.
It would look like the poor Wiimote has Vitiligo.

Of course. Why bring in multi-colored cows when that old cow is still producing good milk? Nintendo will do this, eventually...when the multi-colored milk will bring in double dippers.

The color change for the system would also be the perfect time to introduce some minor revision updates, such as bigger flash memory. I doubt they will do this, but it makes sense because the different color consoles would make is so easy to tell the difference.

This makes sense and would be similar to how they rolled out the new brighter screens for GBA with those 3-4 new colors. However, I doubt they'll do this as I think they view the SD card workaround as their solution here. Which is really good enough for me, unless they make it painless to transfer all my saves and VC games to a new Wii.

Or a panda wearing protection, it would seem.

So now that the White and Pink DSi have been announced for NA, what does everyone think the chances of the black Wii coming stateside this year are?

I'm already buying up games in anticipation of a Wii. I could get a good deal on a white Wii right now but...that black just looks so damn sexy.
I agree. But I would have to get matching Wii-Motes, Nunchuks, Classic Controller and all which would be quite costly since I already have the set in white.

Lol, the black wii is looking sexy, it should get some matching holders for the remote though.

Still "patiently" waiting for Black Wii in America. I was just reading 1Up.com's review of Metroid Prime Trilogy and how much better Prime 1 and 2 play with Wii controls.
