Black Wii Announced
Have you ever went black, with a console? They say you never go back.
Damn.... I was halfway through the thread ... just wanting to write that...
I think we are doing too much about nothing...
Well that's halfway there...I guess...
Looking for the NES Gray Wiimotes then?

The NES toned GBASP was pretty nifty.

Nahhhhh I wanted the shiny black console. Now that I can be sure we won't see a black Wii in The States for some time I can go ahead and purchase the white model while I can still get it for cheap. Silver lining, etc etc

They didn't say.

NINTENDO UNVEILS WII FIT PLUS LAUNCH DATE AND NEW COLORS OF NINTENDO DSI, WII REMOTE

Announcements Give Consumers New Options

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 31, 2009 – Nintendo today announced that the new Wii FitPlus game will launch in North America on Oct. 4, and also revealed new colors for its popular Nintendo DSi™ system and for the revolutionary Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™ controllers and Wii MotionPlus™ accessory. Starting Sept. 13, Nintendo DSi will be available in White and Pink, joining the Blue and Black versions already on the market. Additionally, this holiday season, Nintendo will release a new Black version of the Wii Remote bundled with a Black version of the Wii MotionPlus accessory, which brings precise motion control to games that have been designed for it. A Black version of the Nunchuk controller also will be available for the holidays.

Nintendo of America President & COO Reggie Fils-Aime made these announcements in his keynote address at the 2009 GameStop Manager Conference.

"All of these announcements bring more options and more choices to consumers as our industry heads into its busiest time of the year," Fils-Aime said. "Each of these products allows consumers to enjoy a more personal gaming experience, no matter how they choose to play."

Here are the details of today's announcements:

For people who currently own Wii Fit and want to add the expanded options to their fitness regimen, the Wii Fit Plus disc will be available on its own at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

White and Pink Nintendo DSi colors: The two new colors give consumers even more options to personalize their experiences. All models of the Nintendo DSi hardware come with two cameras and interactive options to let users create and manipulate pictures or sound in fun and creative ways. All versions of Nintendo DSi are available at a suggested retail price of $169.99.

Oh wait. So the nunchuk will be separate, but the controller comes WITH the WM+?
Hmm.
So is it going to be $60 for the controller now because it comes with WM+? :(

I'd bet on a $50 one myself. They would probably have some kind of bundle deal, like how the AC:CF WiiSpeak bundle was $70 instead of $80 separately.

Cool now I don't have to import the black wii remote, hopefully they bring out the new black classic controllers here as well.

And is sounds like they're softening their stance against the black Wii in N.A. (or just being more coy):

From the article...
Update: I contacted Nintendo to get an update on the possibility of the Black Wii console headed to North America, here's their response: "We have nothing to announce about the availability of the black Wii console outside of Japan at this time."
So you have to buy the MP? You can't just purchase a remote? Sighs
Yeah, it's kind of a drag. Methinks it's a big WM+ push in advance for Zelda Wii, whenever that comes out.

The play-asia 20% off sale was when I snagged my set and damn the black is so sexy. Makes me that much more bitter about only the white console being available stateside.

Ok random question.

This comes out, like tomorrow. I'll def want to eventually pick 1.. or 2.. lol.. of these up. I'll probably end up trying to sell 2 remotes/nunchucks from CAG to get 2 big black remotes.. anyway..Since this comes with a WM+, does anyone think they will at least sell the normal sized black condom for this remote? I'm really weird. I don't like playing with with WM+ in the controller if I'm not playing a game that's compatible Wii Sports Resorts.

Stupid, but I figured I'd ask

Looks like they're up already for 3.25 a pop plus shipping. Sometimes my links deep into the Nintendo online store don't work so ahhhh if that doesn't work just go to the Nintendo online store and then go to the parts and accessories section under Wii.

Edit: Wow. Wii Sports is up there for 15 bucks. I didn't know you could buy the standalone disc. That's crazy mayne.

That's pretty much all I wanted to know. Nintendo must realize there are crazy OCD people like me out there

Wonder how long until we get black Wii Wheels + Zappers? Have to admit..they would look cooler in black :(

hmmm looks like Nintendo Japan is releasing blue & pink official Wii remotes in 2 weeks, think I'll skip the black & get those 2

No matching 'chucks or motion plus for either, unfortunately.

I picked up a black controller tonight. I'm very much impressed. Not the fact that it looks kinda sexy, but they provide you with a normal sized black condom for it!

Went into Best Buy last trying to find a Black remote & nunchuck. No luck, but I picked up a copy of Wii Sports Resort with the 2 motionpluses while I had the chance.
Probably old news, but this topic took me by surprise; I didn't know the black wiimotes were upon us. Made me think of the new classic controller that I'm more interested in getting, so I checked Amazon, but apparently that's not out yet.

Anyway, looks like Amazon is selling those white GCN controllers for $30:

Hope this helps someone.
Yeah, they had the White Gamecube Controller listed on their store for a long, long time as "Unavailable", but they must have gotten a shipment in.

I'm tempted to get one even though I have two perfectly functioning Platinum controllers, one of the two being a wavebird.
I wonder why we aren't getting the Classic Controller Pro?
I expect it to drop alongside Monster Hunter Tri, to be honest.

Neat. Thanks to Play-asia sales I already have 3 of these but I might eventually get a fourth to round out the collection. They're very sexy.

I'm consistently staggered that Nintendo hasn't rereleased the Wavebird. Even without any improvements, they'd fly off the shelves @ $40.

To resurrect an old thread.... Has anyone heard anything about a black Wii console being released? I came across a particularly odd thing today.

I was at FYE today checking out some stuff and wandered over to the video game section. They had a table set out that had a few preorder slips for some games. Low and behold, they're taking preorders for a black Wii console, streeting around 5/6 (can't remember if that's the exact date). They even had a pic of the packaging, which is in all black - both the console and the background.

Later, I stopped into a Gamestop while at the mall and asked if there was a black Wii coming next month and they have nothing in the computer and hadn't heard anything. Amazon doesn't have anything up either.

I just find it odd that this preorder just popped up out of nowhere and that FYE seems to be the only retailer that is preordering it. I HIGHLY DOUBT FYE is getting an exclusive Wii console.

I think it might just be FYE using the promotional material that we saw on here to promote Wal-Mart being the first ones to have the $200 Wii + Motion Plus.

Well, I might have to stop by FYE tomorrow and preorder one, just to see if it's actually true. I definetly prefer the black! Now, what to do with my immaculate white. Anyone know how much used systems are going for and what the trade-in value is?

Yeah, I think so. I did a search and nothing came up for the wii console, just games. I called GS today and they wouldn't tell me. They want me to pack the thing up and take it in before giving me numbers. I'm not going to pack it up and waste my time going there and have them turn around and only give me $50 for it. I'm just looking for #'s, so I know what to try and get for it. I have it listed in the trade section, but I don't know if the price is good or not.

How do the Wii Shop games transfer from one Wii console to a new one? MSFT has us go through the transfer process and license process. Does Nintendo have something similar?
How do the Wii Shop games transfer from one Wii console to a new one? MSFT has us go through the transfer process and license process. Does Nintendo have something similar?
There is no transfer process...unless your Wii breaks and you send it into Nintendo to be repaired.

Yeah, it's a huge oversight. Apparently in Europe there is an official means to transfer the content of one Wii to another, but it requires to to send both consoles into Nintendo. Needless to say, that's not exactly a great solution. I hope they can manage to figure out how to produce a "transfer kit" or something of that sort. Connect two consoles, with a transfer disc running in one (or both) and it moves everything from one to the other. It seems like that ought to be possible, but I suppose there must be some issue there.
That's lame. I'd totally swap my white for a black if I could keep my VC games.
There were a few times where I was going to get some VC games, but just couldn't do it, because of the rumors of the black wii coming. So I've just been holding off. Glad I did.:)

You're still going to lose most of your saves, though. The majority of Wii games don't allow you to copy saves. Not as a bad as actually losing stuff you paid for, but it's still not great.
So you can't move the wii shop games to the sd card and then use them on a new wii?
Nope. The Wii continues to astound in its weird failures.
Nope. The Wii continues to astound in its weird failures.
Well, I'm not gonna be getting the black one then, darn.

i would love a black wii, since everything on my entertainment rack is black except the wii, but to pay for a new one just for that? nah
