Blu Ray 2 for $25 BBV

JLazzuri

CAGiversary!
Hey guys. Just found out that Blockbuster Video will be putting their previously viewed BluRay on sale. The sale will be 2 for $25 for any title 16.99. There's a pretty good selection at my store, but then again selection may vary. Hope this helps someone pick up a few on the cheap.
Blockbuster cashiers usually are cool from what I've seen.

But seriously, you bought something used without checking it? I never buy anything used (or new for that matter), without looking it over to make sure it's alright.
I figured blurays could take a few finger prints or light scratches on the back of the disk so I didnt mind at that time. Didnt expect a whole quarter of the disc to look like it got hit with a sand blaster.

Went to another BBV after school today and this one had a bigger selection than the store I usually go to but they had most of the stuff I wasnt interested in. Picked up Pineapple Express and Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor for $27 after tax. Actually checked the discs before purchasing it this time and they looked pretty good except for a few fingerprints on each disc.

I went to BB and yes 2 for $25 was on! I was thinking getting Pineapple Express and Lakeview Terrace.

Anyone know where I can buy backup Blu-ray cases???? I looked at best Buy and found none.

I picked up mine from Fry's. There not the official bluray cases (the edges are sqaured instead of rounded) but they're hardly noticeable if you place them in a shelf along with other bluray movies.. They were also 10 cases for $10 so its not really a bargain compared to online sites but I just wanted something right away.

I went to BB yesterday after work and got Appaloosa and Tropic Thunder. On break today I am going to another one close by and see what they have. If I dont find anything, I will probably go back to the original store after work and get Traitor and Jumper

Man, I wish I wasn't so anal about my collection... I called up five BBV in my area and none of them has any bluray cases to spare. Looks like I'll pass on this deal. :(

.. are you there are these 2 for 25 dollar bluray thjingy? ive checked in our place and there isn't any.. but i would like to know more about this.. is this still going on..?

thanks

Picked up Hellboy 2 and Wanted.

When I asked if they had an extra :br: cases, the clerk told me they're not allowed to give cases out anymore.

:whistle2:(

i got zack and miri and kung fu panda and put them in 2 of the 5 bluray cases i got off ebay... at least BB gives us the original artwork...
It's an average deal....I would have to replace the cases as I am anal about that, so I figure that's an extra $3-$5 more.
How do you figure this ? Extra cases run on average about $0.80 shipped. This makes the movie complete with case for less than $13.50 plus tax. Admittedly, this is not a deal for some of the movies available but it is for a great many of them.

I bought a bunch of clear Bluray display cases from my BBV a while ago .
They were 5/$1.00 . I knew I would eventually need them .
They came in handy during the Hollywood Video HD DVD sale .
Has anyone seen RocknRolla as part of the 2 for 25?
I went to 6 blockbusters today looking specifically for this and wall-e. None of the 6 stores I went to had either. I really enjoyed Rocknrolla and I know I'll want to watch it again before the sequel comes out.

Picked up Hancock and 10,000 B.C. Asked one of the employees if they could switch the cases out for some of the legit blue cases and said no. My wife ended up asking another employee and she told the original employee asked to switch them out. I guess she was the manager. Would not have bought them if they didn't switch the cases.

Just curious, but whats the different titles you guys have seen for the sale? I dont think they just put out any bluray for the sale, probably only a limited selection. I've been to two stores and these are the ones I've seen in both stores:

-Saw 5
-Pineapple Express
-Zack and Miri
-Tropic Thunder
-Forgetting Sarah Marshall
-Pirates 2 R rated
-Traitor
-Walk Hard, Dewey Cox
-Step Brothers
-Lakeview Terrace
-Bangkok Dangerous

These are the ones I've seen in only one store and not the other:

-The Dark Knight
-Wanted
-Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
-Twilight
-Eagle Eye
-Star Wars Clone Wars

The ones I can remember from my store are:

Baby Mama
What Happens in Vegas
Vantage Point
Stranger Than Fiction
Traitor
Lakeview Terrace
You Don't Mess w/ Zohan
Zack and Miri
Pineapple Express
Tropic Thunder
GetSmart
Blades of Glory

There are some more I can't remember. Although, most of the decent movies are gone already like Dark Knight and Iron Man. I was hoping Slumdog was part of the sale and Dumb and Dumber, but no such luck.

the BBV in my area is closing (North Attleboro) so they are having a B2G1 on all titles (including games), there was still a few BluRays theres and the price range from $4.99 to $12.99, i was able to get Get Smart, Dewey Cox and The Fall, all were $10, so I only payed a lil over $20 for them.

i should mention they are in theyre original blue case
No, they don't keep the original blu-ray case art--you get disgusting Blockbuster case art in Blockbuster cases. I don't think they stores ever even get the original cases, pretty sure they get all their movies in Blockbuster cases but I could be wrong. If I am wrong I would like to know what they do with all the retail cases.

And seriously, I wonder how long before BB realized nobody will buy blu-rays without the blu-ray cases. At least with DVDs they were very similar to the originals.
Until they make lockable bluray cases we will put them in the black boxes. With the amount of money you save the box type is irrelevant. And there selling alot better than you think man.

Any one know if the 2-disc editions, such as Step Brothers actually come with the 2nd disc as well, seeing as how the 2nd disc contains the special features for the movie.

Picked up Step Brothers today...definitely came with the 2nd disc. Mine looked untouched.
I too was denied trying to get some blu cases....oh well.

I was probably going to order some doubles with the red2blu thing anyway...

I grabbed iron man, gotham knight, dark knight, and speed racer today. I also had twilight and rambo 4 but I was told that twilight was 19.99 and therefore not eligible for the sale. Has anyone heard anything different?

I need 2 2 disc blu ray cases and 2 single disc cases, if anyone has some they are willing to sell or can let me know of a good place to get actual legit blu ray cases, please PM me. Thanks.
I think the sale is for any used DVD $16.99 and higher? So Twlight would quality.
from what i understand, its 16.99 and less for 25. I wanted role models, but it was 25.99 and was told it was NOT in the promo.

Picked up Zach & Miri Make A Porno along with Get Smart today. No go on getting real Blu cases. Off topic a bit but funny thing is the Blockbuster I went to had ten trillion copies of Twilight for rental yet not a single one rented out. I've yet to see a copy of Yes Man in for rent thus far at any Blockbuster I went to. Yet the woman I spoke to goes on and on about Twlight is a "hot renter." Uuuhhhhhhhh..... yeah, I guess "hot renter" must mean every copy is available to rent while another new release is always rented out, right?

Also... anyone think its funny that Blockbuster actually carries the full title edition for Zack & Miri Make A Porno given Blockbusters very Wal-Martish stance on said titles? Especially since both Wal-Mart and Target won't sell it with the full title but instead have that stupid altered Zach & Miri cover.

Finally for those looking for empty cases....

http://www.sleevetown.com/blu-ray-hd-dvd-case.shtml

Shipping is a bit high. I got quoted $5.52 or so for just two Blu cases. I'd imagine the shipping might seem a little better if you order in a bigger supply however. But there you go.
Where did you get the cases? Are they the same size/color as standard Blu-ray cases?

I've been shopping around for some and don't want to get stuck with suck ones. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I just searched for 'blu ray cases', and found a lot of discussion on different forums. I ordered from sleevetown: http://www.sleevetown.com/blu-ray-hd-dvd-case.shtml

I got some mostly 1 disk, with a couple of doubles. They are the exact same as any case you'd get with a new retail blu ray.

$25.99 for a USED blu-ray geeezzzzz you can get that brand new for that price.

Is there any way to see sleevetowns shipping prices without having to make an account? I dont want to bother making an account if the shipping on 4 cases is ridiculous. Plus now the double disc case is backordered :(

I wouldn't say the exact same, considering most retail ones are made by "Elite" and the site says theirs are made by "Nexpak."

Did anyone else buy Speed Racer on bluray? I got mine last night and it only came with one disc...am I missing the other one?

I think you are, there's a 3 disc edition, and then regular with a digital copy, so i guess your missing the digital copy, but i think blockbuster buys special versions without digital copys because they have no use for them.

FYI I checked today and Fry's sells new Blu-Ray Cases. 10 for $10. rounded edges, good quality, clips for an insert inside overall very good except they didn't have the "BLu-Ray" working on the top front of the boxes.

is the sale still going on? I dont get back to the states until wednesday night and hopefully they will still be open then... I have a few things want... and it's my bday next week so I may convince the gf to get em some too :)

Picked up :

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Lakeview Terrace
Righteous Kill
Tropic Thunder

Dude said they didnt have any of the regular bluray cases... oh well didnt stop me

I went toniht to check out what they had and asked when they would add more and the BBV employee said they usually pull BR's every other Sunday .
They're due to pull this coming Sunday .

I'm not saying every store follows this schedule so YMMV .

Thanks Richlough, gonna stop by to see what else they got.

Stopped by 3 Blockbusters today and 2 of them werent participating in the sale and the third one, I picked up Star Wars Clone Wars, Get Smart, Twilight, and Step Brothers. Asked the clerk there if there were any more besides the one on the sale floor and she showed me Babylon AD and Punisher War Zone but she said they didnt qualify for the deal (both were $30). Hope they drop those on Sunday so they can become part of the deal.

I hate it when they price their used blurays 24.99 & 29.99 because you might as well buy a new one at Best Buy or Amazon. Some genius work at Blockbuster.

Has anyone seen any copies of Role Models in the Los Angeles area yet? I went to 6 locations Sunday and didn't see it yet, probably hasn't gone previously viewed yet.

Also what I've noticed is that some Blockbusters, 2 out of the 6, I went to have the sale restricted to Previously Viewed Blu-rays that are $16.99 or less. I don't know if this is a store decision, maybe they're franchises and not held to the same terms as the other corp stores that don't have a restriction on the sale.

What are the conditions of these discs? I understand that blu-ray discs can endure a lot more punishment than dvd's, but im very picky about scratches and scuff marks on my discs

I bought about 10 movies from this deal so far and only one of them wouldnt play (back side of the disc had multiple gashes to it, like someone used a knife on it). Rest of them were pretty good, had a few fingerprints or stains on them but they all played fine.

Those are discs that were traded in .
