Blu-ray Discussion Thread - The One and Only
Got The Incredible Hulk today as well. I'll be watching that one tomorrow!
Gizmo I'll gladly take/buy (however) that one off your hands. As well as the US Sweeney if you don't want them.

Thanks

As you may know, Blu-ray movies are more expensive than standard definition movies. As a result, we're going to start charging $1 a month (plus applicable taxes), in addition to your monthly membership charge, for unlimited access to Blu-ray movies.

The additional charge for unlimited Blu-ray access will be automatically added to your next billing statement on or after November 5th, 2008 and will be referenced in your Membership Terms and Details. If you wish to continue getting Blu-ray movies for $1 a month more, you don't need to do anything. If not, you can remove Blu-ray access anytime by visiting Your Account at the Netflix website.
I think i will be ok with this. It is only one dollar more and all, and I have a bad taste for BlockBuster.
So, by "unlimited Blu-Ray access" does that actually mean "any Blu-Ray access" or are their different tiers for BR?
I would assume they mean there is no limit to how many BDs you can rent with the $1 increase and, if they even give you the option, if you don't opt for that, you are limited to X amount a month. That's what it sounds like anyway.

Glad I switched to Blockbuster from Netflix a few years back. That's f'n lame.

Didn't they just say blu-ray wasn't a significant portion of their rental business?

thus the need for a price increase...

It's a buck. Per month.

I could see if it was per movie, but it's not. It's not a big deal, IMO.

I'll be more than happy to pay it when I reactivate my account about the time the NXE launches.
$1 per month is far less than Blockbuster has jacked up their prices over the past year...
Mine has only gone up once since I've been member (back in 2005?)

$19.99 / month (plus taxes)
3 at-a-time, Unlimited mailings
Unlimited in-store movie exchanges
+2 FREE bonus Movie or Game Rental E-Coupon / Month
best news ever. I've wanted this on blu ray since blu ray was announced.
hell yeah how we need scareface
hell yeah how we need scarface
I think thats the only news that could top this. That or The Professional. Oh well. One at a time I suppose. Baby steps...

When I signed up in 04 I paid $15 a month for 3 at a time, when I got the email about a year ago informing me they were raising it to $20 from the $17 I was already raised to I cancelled. That's on top of all the perks given and taken away during my 3 years of membership.

Ouch...the DVD is typically $19.99 most weeks on sale. $40 is stretching it for a now catalog release. They need to get this into Lionsgate type pricing (Weeds, Mad Men)

If anyone got Nightmare Before Christmas or Sleeping Beauty on :br: and are not planning on using the Disney rewards, send them my way :D

-----

As for next week...looks like I'm saving my cash, nothing for me till The Incredible Hulk the week after.

Nothing for me until Band of Brothers I think, although I'll probably rent Mongol, Standard Operating Procedure and maybe The Strangers.

Damn it, after months of not buying any Blu I just went on a crazy spending spree today. I was only going to buy Sleeping Beauty but I also ended up getting 2001 A Space Odyssey, Cloverfied, Discovery Atlas: Australia and Brazil, Beer League (which I might return) and A view from Space (which I will definitely return after hearing about the bad quality from a friend), I was so tempted to get the Godfather trilogy but I have to save that cash for either The matrix trilogy or Dead Space on PS3 later this week. Iron Man, Transformers and the upcoming Dark Knight and Wall-E are still on my hit list but I'll end up getting even more than I originally planned, damn this sickness of mine.

So does every Blu-ray version of the Incredible Hulk comes with a digital copy? What about the new Casino Royale 2 disc version does that include a digital copy too?

I really want to get Poltergeist because it's one of my favorite movies and it has that cool flip book packaging. I just got One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest and the convert looks great.

New Casino Royale? Goddamit.

Yes. Mine was in a white envelope though inside the case (not like FSM which had a special tray for it).

Yup, 10/21. I could be wrong but I think this is the first double dip for a AAA title on BR. With the new 007 out next month it's not much of a surprise, unfortunately.

I remember a few people wanted this film but it was delayed...but I got War Inc. today on Blu-ray so tomorrows date is for sure.

Ditto.

I'm new to Blu-ray and am loving it.

Quality = :drool:

my target got them in i cant buy one that sucked

Sorry if I missed it, but did they announce a release date for the Indy Collection on Blu-Ray? I thought I heard like end of year or something like that.

The Matrix looks great. Even on a SDTV with component cables I can tell.

Unfortunately, they always seem to screw something up with Matrix packaging. This time, the spindles of the Matrix Experience case were made out of some form of Dixie Crystals sugar. Same thing happened to my DVD Ultimate edition.

Guess I'll be hanging on to that, since for some reason they only gave us the digital copy of the Matrix (none of the other movies) and either iPod or WMV. Not the choice for both, as usual.

Hmmm, so what's the difference between the editions of Casino Royale? If the new edition doesn't really have much, I might just keep waiting for the first version to drop more.

Well I never owned the original release, and I'm actually getting the new 2 disc set for free, thanks to the buy 2 get 1 debacle so I look forward to owning it.

Wanted cover art looks sweet...assuming it looks the same as the slipcase:

looks nice, tired of the slipcases though since they always arrive damaged and they seem to be keeping the info off of the box and putting it on the slipcase instead now

Fox sent out the 007 Blu Rays but alas, I couldn't get FOR YOUR EYES ONLY to work on my player (the LGBH200) and I own 2 different units. Not only that but they sent me by mistake 2 different copies of the disc, which exhibited the same behavior!! Arrgghh! (can you say firmware update, lol??).

The other Bonds look SENSATIONAL. Fans will not be disappointed in the level of detail on these discs :)
