Blu-ray Discussion Thread - The One and Only
Well shoot im going to cc to see if saw 5 is there.. ill wait a few hours in line for it.
no luck in mine... but their were no crazy lines at my store either.. everything looked quite normal
Amazon has been for a while as long as they are region free. You can buy American Pie or The Goonies right now for instance.

Though, $120 for 4 films is a lot...the boxset will likely be $70 or so
Wow, news to me. $30 for a movie is too much though.
Looks like Amazon might start selling imports:

Batman:
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Blu-ra...=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1232302523&sr=1-11

Batman Returns:
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Return...ef=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1232302579&sr=1-3

Batman Forever:
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Foreve...ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1232302579&sr=1-2

Batman & Robin:
http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Robin-...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1232302579&sr=1-1

Each 29.99 with free shipping.

Hope this turns out to be a new trend. I wouldn't mind picking up Batman Forever...as cheesy as it was, it's a good movie.
Just import from Amazon UK. They are cheaper overall.

That is way true. Many got all 4 for $80ish a few weeks back as they were part of some sort of sale/BOGO.

You can get all 4 shipped to America for £57.97

That's only $84.48

The best deal on the UK BATMANs is easily the 4-disc LEGACY Box-Set coming out in March.

It ends up being $49.34 shipped for all four movies if you pre-order it from Amazon UK and don't mind waiting a few weeks.

Certainly will be a better deal than the $70-$90 the US set will command, and all you get extra in that is a digital copy of the first BATMAN if some of the press releases are accurate.

Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I can't seem to find a list of future blu-ray release dates anywhere. Is there something like that available?
Just asking because, I have no rational explanation, but every single day for the past 2 or 3 weeks, I find myself thinking "I wonder if Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is going to release on blu-ray?".

I can't imagine what triggered the thought, but I can't get it out of my head!

I usually check hidefdigest.com myself.

In fact, I see In the Realm of the Senses is coming from Criterion. I might double dip that--get rid of my DVD version.

bluray.com is where I go for future dates.

Picked up Max Payne, Dogma and Diary of the Dead. I love this site.. my wallet does not.

Even though a local shop sells all BR movies for $19.99 new, I think I may pay the $34.99 for Zack and Miri on viewaskew.com.. it's autographed :D

Both sites bluray.com and highdefdigest.com are good sites to go to for reviews and release dates. I have been disappointed with HighDefDigest lately because they have been lacking on the reviews and the ones they do have are movies most of us do not care about.

I was really disappointed with Saw V. I expected a lot more killing. It was nice to get some of the storyline explained from the first four, but not enough going on to keep you interested. Hoping for a better experience with Saw VI later this year.
Has anyone seen El Norte on bluray for cheap?
I haven't seen any of the Criterions for cheap.

Back during the 20% off sale for DD.com, I was able to get The Last Emperor and The Third Man for $20something each.

I, myself, am looking forward to Saw XXII, by then the story should really get cooking.
ice..Did you ever get freddy vs jason? any good?
I always use amazon.com. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and it breaks it down according to weeks. http://www.amazon.com/Blu-ray-movie..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=060W58EE5GDCYTTAAW2P

What part is autographed and is it just printed on it or is it actually kevin smiths signature?. I really would not want to buy it and the wrap be signed and not be able to open it with out destroying the signature. To me his signature is not worth the extra. If I wanted his signature I would order something from there with it that chances are it would not come off of.
Is there a site where I can order a replacement case for the Blade Runner 5-disc CE?
I know you can get blu-ray cases at SleeveTown for cheap, but I don't know if they carry a 5-disc one or not.
ice..Did you ever get freddy vs jason? any good?
it looks great. DTS Master audio, terrific transfer. No extras but I'm fully satisfied with it. Worth the import, and look for a $10 off $40 coupon at Amazon.ca which I believe still works for new accounts.

Saw V is disappointing.. the pq/aq isnt as good as part 4.. sadly.

Sigh.. to the two people who have movies from me.. i mailed them to myself. Sorry. Its been a shitty ass week for me.

Odd release...and at $27.95 too

I have looked at 2 different release lists and not one says anything about battlestar galactica. I have season one on HD that I just got from a sale on Amazon and now I want to watch the rest of them. However I don't want to buy them on dvd because I know they will come to bd soon. Has anyone read online as to when they might come out?

It hasn't been announced yet by Universal.

Same here, but as Gizmo mentioned, it hasn't been announced yet.

At this point, I wouldn't mind if Universal just waited until this season closes out so I can just get the entire run on BR. :p

I'm also pining for Ghost Whisperer...Love Hewitt in HD
So ive got about 8 blu's to burn thru in the next few days..

Cant wait to watch rock n rolla :)
Rocknrolla is definitely entertaining. It's about time Guy Ritchie made another good one.

Just got finished. Great video.. amazing audio quality.. but it auto started (i figured it didnt have a menu) and had it on dolby digital for a good 30 minutes until i realized it wasn't the high-def audio.. switched it over.. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Overall though I didnt enjoy it.. it wasnt my type of film i guess. not enough action.. a little too long too.. its roughly 2 hours.

:p

Do you guys know whether or not I need my receipt for my warranty at GameStop? I still have my box though:) Won't they know from my address?
DId u get the butterfly effect giz?
It shippes yesterday
thanks!

is freddy vs jason region locked?
Its Region A as far as I know. Watched it last night on my S550.
That's a nice looking set. Don't know if I'll get rid of my HD copies for it, though.
The video looks to be the same encode, though the audio gets a nice upgrade, as do the extras.

Figuring I paid less than $40 for my three movies on HD-DVD, I'm OK with waiting a bit before crossgrading to BR.

PLEASE let me know what you think of Butterfly Effect.. I want to order it but it looks like a barebones release.

I picked up Bourne Trilogy.. $60 for 3 movies isn't bad at all. I didn't have the movies prior to this release. The case is awesome.. I didn't like how the movies inside weren't factory sealed, even though the outer box is.
Where did you get it for $60?
Amazon and Deep Discount both have it for $65 right now. Maybe he had a gift card.
