Aaahhhh! Amazon decided to put 7 Blu Ray movies (including the pre-release of sleeping beauty) into my gold box today, but there are no B2G1 or B1G1 deal at the moment!

another plus is amazon started packing in southern style chicken sandwich coupons again or maybe i just got lucky
yea i got that too on my last order.. I actually tried the sandwich but there was nothing really southwest about it.. Just two buns , a pickle, and a fried chicked strip. I usually stay away from mcdonalds food but i want to try the chicken biscuit (only am)

same, i'm not a big mc donald's fan or fast food fan in general, but it tastes decent and its a free lunch so can't complain

i think its called southern though because of the buttery bun and pickles

crap.. your right.. I thought it was "southwestern" .. There really is nothing about it though that stands out.. just another regular chicken sandwich to me.

Anyways nice to see Cloverfield get a good review. Easily one of my favorite movies. Should have it tomorrow hopefully.

What do you mean? I don't see any blu-rays in the goldbox atm.

Just wondering what made it so great? When I saw it, I didn't think it was that good. I actually came out of it thinking it was like the Blair Witch Project.

It is a cult film?

Hence the word "my" goldbox ;)

Do the goldbox trick if you want something specific to pop up for you. I didn't pull the trigger on any of them though b/c I'm waiting for another B1G1 or B2g1 deal.

Edit: I posted a simple way of manipulating your goldbox deals before on CAG but I can't find it at the moment. Here is a deal on SD that explains it thoroughly if you want to try it out. It works for me, but it might take awhile for the item you want to show up.

Okay thanks, i tired to do it but I am getting blu-rays that won't leave my recommendation page, I have every set as "Do not use for recommendation" maybe because I have a pre-order for SCC BR? IDK. But since it is giving me blu-rays I can atleast keep an eye to see if there are any good deals on them.

i wonder if they can't keep up with making the blu-rays or there isn't enough blu-ray disks between GTA4/MGS/Paramount releasing tons of movies at once/etc. etc.

seems like a lot of things are getting delayed or are in short supply

wow it felt surreal for a moment when i saw the traditional paramount web loading screen during cloverfield when accessing the special mode. Its something like the hud mode in the transformers hd dvd.

Wow, I can't get a hold of Cloverfield for a decent price. I tried Amazon but it won't be in stock until July 4th! Walmart just now sold out this morning and every other place has it priced at $30 or over.

Why the hell can't I just pick it up somewhere for $24?!!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!

Fox has always sucked in the HDM world. Their prices have always been the highest and many of their catalog hits were still packed with just the movie or barely much more. :bomb:

Not a fan of scary, horror or gore movies though but that pricing is ridiculous

My radar is out for cloverfield under $20. I'm patient so I'll wait a few weeks/months until it drops in price

Just print out the Wal mart.com page and take it to BB and have them price match. I got mine for $22. Best sounding disc ever.

BTW White Castle is up for Pre-order at WHV priced @ $20
Order both H&Ks for $13 and $19 with the %30 percent code.
And in Be Kind Rewind and get free shipping. I got all 3 for $54 shipped.

My Wal-Mart won't price match their own online ads. Even the Wal-Mart website said that they won't.
Looks like amazon has a bluray pc drive for a lightning deal at 1pm est..

It has to be a good price for me to even consider it. $100.00 would be nice. Even though i have been wanting the combo bd/hd drive to fall in price.

item on sale will be:

http://www.amazon.com/Liteon-Reader...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1212673228&sr=8-1
I'd stay away from Liteon if I were you.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with their drives and they have a pretty bad reputation online.

Yeah, so take it to BB and PM it.

Cloverfield for $18.95 shipped with Prime a good price(even though it is back ordered)?

I asked before and was wondering what makes this film so good? I saw it in theaters and idk if it was because i did follow the viral campaign or what but I wasn't too impressed with it.

EDIT-It is in MY Goldbox Quick Picks, if you want to see how to get the price down check back a few pages and it is explained. (I added blu-rays I was interested in to my cart and left them there a couple days)
If you didn't like it that much, why would you buy it?
IDK, I figured it was a decent deal and I have heard it has good specs, PQ and AQ. I was just trying to figure out what you guys liked about it?

EDIT- Also, IDK what I was expecting when I went and saw it but it wasn't what I was expecting. I am going to bite for the alt endings and to give it another shot.

man i think WHV stopped shipping next day air

got semi-pro last week next day, but natural born killers is coming by ground

hope its just a fluke

yea i got shipping confirmation ( a first for whv store) and it mentioned semi-pro is coming ground...

also it must be just me but what is different in the cloverfield alt ending.. they seem the same to me

here's what i noticed in diff between endings

one switched the ending from the ferris wheel to the train station

the other one had a face looking into the camera after the rubble and i think they added the camera end of tape beep as the monster was landing into the ocean

Just thought I'd let you guys know (searched the thread for "Managed Copy" and didn't find anything).

Blu-ray has dropped Managed Copy from it's specs list. It had plans for implementing it until HD DVD bowed out; now it's dust in the wind.

For those of you who've never heard of it, it basically would've enable movement of high-definition content onto home network and portable devices. This means that users could legally copy a Blu-ray disc, at least for their home media server and backup purposes.

You can still do this w/ a PS3 to a PSP (however it's completely proprietary);
but any hope for putting a movie on a laptop for a trip or backing up your kids' movies so you don't have to re-buy them if they're ruined, or any other situation is vamoose.

R.I.P. Managed Copy
Sucks, but not surprising... There well be a way to copy them though. I guarantee it.
Unlike DVD, BD will be using BD+; which will be constantly changing.

If you follow the history of DeCSS, which removed the CSS (Content-Scrambling System), on DVDs allowing people to make backups; you'll find that the MPA (Motion Picture Association) went hard after the 16 year old Norwegian kid who cracked it. They lost because of Norway's laws being sane; but if it wasn't for the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) helping him he may be in prison right now (as the old adage, the best defense you can buy goes; lawsuits are regularly a war of financial attrition against the just).

Now DeCSS only had to be released once to crack every DVD ever produced. BD+ will have to be cracked on a regular basis. Which means companies like SlySoft will likely be the only solution for backing up discs. Besides not being free like Managed Copy would have been, it also creates a huge bullseye on them for lawsuits; which likely means it's only a matter of time before they stop because defending the lawsuits costs more than they could make w/ the software.

So, imo, that's why this is a big decision by the BDA. They just invoked a policy which has made legitimate users uses illegitimate. With the future of media devices on the horizon, ripping video will become like ripping MP3s from your CDs to your iPod was not so long ago. Creating another uphill battle between consumers & the nameless faceless industry which wants to nickel & dime people as many times as possible for the same content.

As time goes on, you'll see what I mean more & more clearly.

Now that I think of it again... I don't really care. BR is quality for at home, but for me on the go quality isn't as important since it's gonna be on a smaller screen so there's always DVD or just d/ling stuff. I don't care what they do, there will ALWAYS be a way to copy or get a copy as long as people need "backups" or whatever. I guess for me I've been getting BR just to get it since I have a PS3. It's the only reason I keep getting BR I guess and it's the only reason I haven't sold my PS3. It's definitely not all that.

Also, the MPA can follow the same route as the RIAA and they will lose the same way. Piss people off and they wonder why people rather pirate than buy stuff they don't really own.

I thought that i had read that slysofts anydvd decrypts blu ray disks just fine, though i lack a bd-rom drive on my pc to experiment with it.

You may not care, but not everyone is tech savvy or willing to DL stuff they own illegally. Also are you going to buy the same movie twice on BD & DVD just so you can rip it to portable devices? The point is they want to sell you (most likely via digital DL) the same content all over again on mobile devices. The content you already purchased on BD. & again, BD+ will require regular cracking; which means any program for decrypting BD will have to be regularly updated. It wont be a simple program like DeCSS which can be spread all over the net like a wildfire & be impossible to stop. The updates will have to come from somewhere & that somewhere will always be a target.

It does for most ATM. But BD+ hasn't been implemented fully yet. AFAIK its only on a couple Fox titles ATM. Those titles though were undecryptable for a few weeks after they were released. As more titles are released it will be more of a waiting game. BD+ isnt uncrackable, it is just time consuming & not an end processes.

I just got an order approval request for my order of SCC, because they updated the shipping date to 8-19. I am thinking about canceling it since you guys said it was going to be distributed by WB making it likely there might be a better deal but I will wait until it gets alittle closer to see if any other places have a better deal.

Also my Cloverfield order that was supposed to ship sometime in July has shipped and will be here tomorrow.

Apparently Jumper has an all-new BD+ code which is giving people with BD Rom drives issues.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, and 40 Year Old Virgin are all announced to be releasing on 9/30.
And there's a box set with all of them

Just read that season one of Torchwood is being released on Blu-ray in September. Woohoo!

Amazon has it available for pre-order here.

Highdefdigest.com has a brief article about the package here.
