Borderlands 2 - Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - 6/25 - 800 pts.
Not really. I was spec'ed for it, and it was doing no damage. It didn't scale well with level. And their artifacts stop going up in level (IIRC, level 4 or 5 was the highest, which became weak by the time you're at ~50). First playthrough, it was great. Killed everything and healed you to full. By Knoxx, it was completely worthless. Sniping wasn't as effective either, since nothing dies with one headshot.
i suppose we had different expectations for it. I used mine for snaring and healing. It did that to great effect and I then gunned them down accordingly.
I haven't even found a purple yet. :) Best I've received are a couple of blues from Mamaril.
Not sure who Mamaril is, but I assume that's farther in than where I am... Hyperion just "entered the playing field."

I've found maybe one or two purples, both sniper rifles... just fantastic looking. I absolutely love my Vladof fire sniper rifle.

Edit: Just found out who Mamaril is... yeah... he's given me some awesome blues as well.

curious...anyone know when/where you can access the Slaughter Dome and the Moxxie rocket launcher? I'm only lvl 4 atm but that'll change after tonight.
also, I haven't input the golden vault key code yet. I've heard some ppl looted it early by mistake, I'd like to open it at lvl 50 if at all possible. So where exactly does this spawn so I can avoid it like the plague for a bit.

Just an heads up for myself so I don't open it before i'm ready to.
It's right in front of where you arrive when you fast travel to Sanctuary. Can't miss it. :)

thanks man.

i heard that moxxi's rocket launcher is the reward if you survive the creature dome...so i guess I'll be waiting on that til im much higher level.

loving this game so far.. the amount of good guns im finding is very few so it feels exciting when i actually find a gun i like

thread has exploded since the last time i looked at it so im not sure if this is old news but you can get another golden key for the golden loot chest by signing up for that shift thing in the main menu.. just agree to terms, type in an email, then go back to my offers, yay golden key

oh and if i find another chest with 4 shields in it.. im seriously gonna lose my cool
Badass system - You complete challenges from the list and earn points, the higher rank you complete the more points you get (i.e. kill bandits (25) for level one, then kill (50) for level 2, kill (150) for level 3. these would be woeth 1, 3, then 5 points each) you spend the tokens you get from raising the level to add small increases to 1 of many stats. Use them as you get them, holding out on them will not give you any benefit.
OK, but there is something that the game (or something I read?) that told me to wait till I was higher level to use. Is that this golden vault thingie people are talking about above? I'll have to make sure my son doesn't open it then - he tends to run ahead of me and grab everything .

I dunno about yall but I've found all kinds of cool ass guns.. purples.. some hidden which complete challenges in your badass list. It's hidden in a puddle all by itself in a side cavern when you're doing the firehawk mission... My tip to you all EXPLORE the entire map!!! If you go to an area and there's part of the map missing or not explored you're missing out! I platinumed the first one with all the DLC's and will with this one too. I'm a level 15 Siren now. I've got machine guns that shoot rockets.. pistols that shoot cannonball size bombs .. I loooove the guns Its whats taking me so long to advance because of deciding what to keep or let go ... I hope they allow the backpack mod again in this one haha

I've found the Rolands Vault and Claptraps stash spot .. both full with 21 spots in the backpack.. all badass guns.. Good luck guys

What they're referring to is not using your golden vault key until you rank up later in the game.. if you use it now you'll get a nice gun but only at a level ... 10.. lets say.. because you're new in the game.. After you play you'll eventually be up against level 40-50 enemies and that level 10 gun as cool as it is.. is still a level 10 and won't do shit against a higher level enemy.. so they're saying hold off till you rank up then open the golden chests

I went ahead and used my first Golden Vault Key at 15 since I got a code for another (at the Community Day this past weekend). I got two really good Purple Pistols that were superior to my other weapons by a longshot.
has anyone been emailed their Amazon codes yet?
Yeah I got mine around 7:20 EST yesterday, but they have been quite slow with these codes.

When did your order ship?

it has not yet (I chose FREE shipping)

Whats funny is I finally got my first Orange in the Creature dome (at level 25) which was a pretty badass rocket launcher (7k damage, 4 shots w/ a bouncing Tediore reload shot) then 2 minutes later I get the Moxxi rl for beating the Creature Dome which has over 11k damage and splits in two directions when you shoot (good for shooting into crowds, but you usually have to aim funny if you want to hit something in front of you)

Sucks that my first orange went away that quick. My favorite weapon right now is a shotgun with 395x15 exploding damage, 2 shots before reload and pretty fast reload speed. I think its level 19 but it still takes down most lvl 26 badass's within the first two shots. Zero's sneak ability with the shotgun is major damage.

If anyone wants to do some co-op, my gamertag's on the left. I plan on playing most nights after work (5pm-11pm) and weekends will be all over the place.

Hmmm reading this thread a lot of you are doing a shotgun ninja approach. I really didn't even think about using a Shotty but it makes sense. Im going to grab a shotgun and unleash some hell with my Assassian later :)

Just so you guys know, you can get infinite items out of the Gold Loot Box in Sanctuary by spamming X while it's closing. It'll open again for free and you'll be able to open it every time after that for free while you're still in Sanctuary. Loading new areas turns it off and you'll need another key to open it up. It also may get stuck if you throw a grenade at it (which is the only reason I had to stop famring the chest last night).

I must admit this game is kicking all sorts of ass right now. What a difference actual character development and a coherent storyline worth paying attention to makes indeed. Oh, and apparently Axton + Randoms don't mix well... ever. Handsome Jack, Zer0 and Tiny Tina were clearly worth the price of admission.

For now I'm glad I took a risk giving the IP a second chance because if this momentum continues I'll have something worth coming back later in the year.
I am a level 8? soldier, and am loving the game so far. It's alot funnier than the first. And i really like the badass system.

I just finished the first game for the 1st time last weekend and i am having issues with the new menu system though, i am just not used to the new setup. I have also run into a few glitches already, but the game just came out so it is somewhat understandable.

Just a heads up though make sure you finish the Bad Hair Day mission before
you leave the area on claptraps boat. i didnt and i now cant find either Claptrap or the guy (Hammerlock?) to finish the mission
Yeah I spent 30 minutes troubleshooting that and looking for a solution online but I didn't see anything. When I got to Sanctuary I was surprised to find Claptrap there, woo turn in!

Really liking this game, it's getting better the more you play it. Something that reminds me of Mass Effect 3, you're like ahh man this is awesome, followed by oh man this is awesome-er.;) Just hope the conclusion delivers with all the build up.

Ahh thanks for the shift sign up recommendation. I got one from my Amazon pre-order so with this second one I'll open that chest up for the goodies now!

funny, i put in the code. got my golden guns and key...got about 1 level use out of the guns then sold them all off. the sniper rifle was the only thing I actually used for a bit before getting a significantly better one. MALIWAN iz dah shizzle.

Yeah the preorder guns were worthless this time around. The preorder guns I recieved from GS with BL1 were decent at least. I think I used them up to lvl 10 or so. This time around I found a gun right off the bat that was way better than any of the PO weapons.

Anyways, I'm always down for some co-op. Add me if you want.

Also for those talking about the Michael Mamaril NPC character, you should read the story behind him. Kudos to gearbox for doing this!

That's what I'm starting to turn into. I was originally planning on doing combat rifle and melee, but I find since I'm up close so much to get in range for slashes that I am using my explosive shotgun much more. Definitely a different experience than I had with my characters in the first game which I like.

from what i've read moxxi's rocket launcher is actually decent, so here's to hoping that it is...actually decent. though I don't know how long it'll take me to get to lvl 50 when i make an attempt at the slaughter dome.

got a great blue drop from my 1st real boss fight, im guessing it's what he drops since it has one of those "this gun is the shizzle" in the descripter of affixes. so i retired my explosive shotgun because of this cracked out pistol.

as far as playing zero, ive put in a few points into counter attack since im always get hit and eventualy have no choice but to get into melee range. the bonus to melee damage is decent between reloads. i'll likely go the full sniping tree and dabble in melee at the higher levels.

All the decent weapons we've been finding are pistols. It's getting better now that I invested in accuracy. More like I remembered of BL1.

Edit: I too tried shotgun ninja, but due to crappy shotguns so far, it's not worth using over my purple pistol.

it's possible the drops at least early on are based on the area and level of your character. i'm getting a ton of pistols as well, and mostly fire based, with the exception of 2 explosive guns. I found 1 explosive shotgun that seems to fire 5 homing rockets at a time...but the reload speed is so slow i'm better off sniping from a distance then switching to my pistol when cloaked.

Oh it feels gooooood to be back playing BL! I just got home from vacation last night with it sitting on my doorstep so I fired up the game this morning. I'm at like lvl 8 or 9 so not too far. Got my first orange though - a badass rifle with explosion. I got it with
the midget/skag(whatever it's called now I forgot already) mission - I killed the skag-replacement-thing first and out popped the orange rifle. The badass midget just stood there until I killed him - kinda glitchy.
I've also mostly been getting pistols. I'm set up as a siren since that's what I enjoyed most from the first game. Enjoying it immensely!

Well I pre-ordered this kind of late, and I got the game today (online right now), so I hope to get the code soon or I'll have to complain to Amazon.

If it's any consolation, the Premiere Club guns are next to useless, they'll get outclassed by loot you'll find 15-20 minutes into the game. The mechromancer is the real draw here and that won't be available until next month anyway.

Oh, I know. That's why I ultimately pre-ordered.

I took it off for a while a noticed my rare drops were not as frequent. With it on I've found 3 orange guns, 1 orange shield and plenty of purples and blues.

I agree with you and the gold starter weapons, worthless!
I thought those weapons leveled to you, so if you picked them up at Lv.50, they'd be Lv.50 weapons.
That's for the guns you get out if the gold key chest. The gold starter weapons are low level. (when I say gold, I don't mean orange rare weapons)

Oh, okay. I stopped when I got to Level 8, so a few impressions.

- I think my eyes are taking a little bit of time adjusting to the changes in the art style
- This game seems a lot harder than the first one, although it might just be because it's new to me
- Money seems really scarce in this game so far
- I like that you can customize your character outside of color
- I feel like the Badass Rating system got you Tokens more easily. I also feel like they could add a few categories every couple of weeks for a while to extend the replay value some
- I like the Network Options and the way they are laid out
- I like the expanded Gameplay Options

I would say it's a bit more difficult for a few reasons. One, Borderlands was a super-easy game, and you could easily breeze right through it without a problem. So, making tougher was a no-brainer. Two, the early stages of the game are rather difficult because of minimal upgrades. As I have noticed as I've gained more skillpoints, the game has gotten progressively easier. And I expect it to keep doing so.

Kotaku: Randy Pitchford Teased Details of Borderlands 2’s Future During Our Live Interview Today. Here Are A Few.

Gearbox is in talks about putting Borderlands 2 on the Vita.

The first story content-heavy DLC will have details revealed very soon.

One DLC planned for the near future might have something to do with Pitchford's desire to "ride on one of those sand skiffs from Return of the Jedi."

Borderlands 2 could see more additional playable classes like the Mechromancer. Pitchford's words: "We created the ability in Borderlands 2 to add additional characters because we want to use that ability. The Mechromancer is the first one. I hope to do more. The success of the Mechromancer will help to define this."

There are plans to make a Mac port.

There's going to be a Claptrap game for the Wii U that combines America's Next Top Model, Just Dance 3, JAWS and Attack of the C.H.U.D. Ok, not really. That one was a joke. Or was it?...It was.

Looks like there might be more skins, heads, and possibly other character customization in future DLC.

T.K. Baha will make some sort of return outside his small appearance in the sequel.

I hope with the DLC, they allow you to get more Skill Points like the first game. Although I can't say I'm a fan of the practice of putting that behind a pay wall. I still feel like every WPRG I play misses the point in terms of leveling up characters. If I get to the highest level, I should have access to every Skill I can acquire for my Class. It should be a reward for gaming masochists, period.

And I just got to Level 10, and I feel like the game's pacing is a bit more stretched than the first. I feel like I should be Level 15 right now, but I'm not.

There are plenty of RPGs that don't limit you. Tales of Graces f being the first to come to mind. With enough playthroughs, you can start out with every skill maxed.

But back to the point. I like games that give you multiple viable builds. Borderlands obviously being one of them.

FYI If you start a Dr. Zed mission that requires you to obtain an assault rifle from another Dr...hold on to it as its badass and turning in for the mission completion will give you a weaker pistol with similar effects, so hold on as long as you can. I miss my rifle :/

As tempting as that may be, I won't do that..that would seriously take all the fun out of the game and make it boring. I'm level 11 now. I did decide to use my golden key since I signed up for the shift thing to get a second one. I got two snipers rifles which i'm fine with, since I mainly use that and shotguns.

Can anyone confirm that Amazon is limiting each pre-order to one Premiere Club code?

Pre-ordered 2 copies in the same order and only received one code. Amazon claims there is a limit of one code per ORDER (not per item).

Does anyone remember seeing this limitation in the fine print?
