Borderlands $49.99 x360 on Amazon
Picked this up last week during the 80 / 40 deal.

Last night I sent a message requesting a $4 credit and this morning I received a reply that the credit had been issued. Amazon is the best!
OK, that just pisses me off a bit. And that's why I hate, HATE dealing with the Punjabi CS from India. I sent another email. Hopefully this time I trap them into a corner with their hypocrisy about not being able to refund price differences.

Either do it for all or don't do it at all...retailers need to understand this so they don't piss people off.
So what's the deal if you like shooters but aren't that much into RPG's? I played FALLOUT for a while and liked it but ultimately it was just a little too "RPG'ish" for my taste. I've read that BORDERLANDS is the reverse of FALLOUT (more of a shooter than an RPG as opposed to the other way around), but I'd like to hear some opinions from CAG's before I contemplate this deal. :)
Depends what part of the RPG experience you don't like. You will spend lots of time in Borderlands fiddling around in menus, comparing different guns and class mods and things. But the story and cutscenes are minimal and the pacing is extremely brisk. There is almost no interaction with NPCs; the game is 99.9% combat and equipment management.

If it was your last order, using the Express contact is what I did. Every single time you do it, you get a response back within minutes and almost every time it's in your favor.

Just trying to offer as much friendly advice as I can.

The best way to describe Borderlands is to take all the best aspects of modern shooters and roll them with Blizzard skill trees, classes, randomized weapons, and quests.

The game is still a little glitchy, especially with online play, but it's overall enjoyable.

i got denied when i emailed to get the $4 refunded from when i ordered it on saturday. i used express checkout. anyone who's been successful, mind pasting your email you sent Amazon CS?

if that doesn't work i'll have to call

Thanks for the advice man, but this is what I've been using the whole time. It just goes to show how they arbitrarily enforce their policies on a whim. That is not good CS.

My initial email was as polite as it comes. So was the second. The third...while professional...is not so polite, as I dig into their flawed policies and how discriminating they can be perceived.

Then again...I've been getting replies only from their Indian CS. I almost always have better CS when it is from someone from the US.

I got the game on the 80-40 deal without Express, and I already received it yesterday - it looks like the chances are 50/50 for getting credited $4, should I just call them?
is that a more promising option than emailing multiple times?

to those successful through email, what did you write exactly?

maybe that could help those of us denied the price difference refund.

it's annoying to get denied since i don't even have the game in my hands yet. i ordered Saturday and im a Prime user so it'll be here tonight. not the end of the world though because if i ordered it today i wouldn't get the $40 credit. just stinks though

i got reimbursed for the ps3 version along with the gold box difference for new super mario brothers. I called and the lady asked me what were the new prices. It seemed like she took my word for it without checking and issued a refund that she rounded up to $7.

Now only if BB will pricematch with my B2G1 receipt

When did you place your order? Has it already shipped? If so, I'm going to take a flight out to India and plant my size 13 foot straight up Banu J.'s ass!

start booking your flight because I ordered 10/27, shipped 10/28, received 10/30.

Not to be too dicky, but is Borderlands honestly that hard to spell? I mean, it's even in the link, for crying out loud!

Anyway, I ordered 10/29 and have yet to receive. Trying to play that angle in my plee to "Arun k," the Vague Customer Service Nazi.

my second email to CS they just copy & pasted what they wrote in the first response. it is truly amazing how random they are with issuing refunds

Here's what I got after adding that I hadn't even received the item yet (the last line is the best):

Hello,

I realize our last message was disappointing news for you.

I'm not able to speak to the reasons you may have received a refund for a similar situation in the past. At this point, we don't match prices or give refunds for price changes when the item has already been shipped.

If you decided to return the "Borderlands" and reorder, the return would be subject to our usual returns policy. Please visit www.amazon.com/returns for details.

Prices on some items may change due to special offers from suppliers and manufacturers or our inventory and sales volumes. When we can offer a lower price for new purchases we will, but we can't honor new discounts for completed orders.

I recognize you have a choice of retailers and appreciate that you order from us. We would certainly be sorry to lose your business, and do hope you'll consider us for your future shopping needs.

I'm sorry I don't have better news for you; this is our policy at this time. We won't be able to comment on this issue further.

We hope to see you again at Amazon.com.

Guess I'll be calling tonight....

He shoots (for the fourth time)...

...and he SCORES!!!

So I decided I had enough with the Indian CS and simply called Amazon CS. I got a nice southern bell named Anita from the US on the line and proceeded to tell her my side of the story.

No hassle, no fuss...she was a pleasure to talk to and even made me laugh a bit. She gladly gave me not $11 for the difference of my Demon's Souls and Borderlands purchase, but $12 into my Amazon account for my next purchase (which I checked and is already in my account) and told me I still get my $40 credit for my order for the Buy $80 Get $40 promo!

For THIS very reason is why I detest the outsourced Amazon CS...it gives Amazon a bad rap.

Anita, you rule! :)

FIXED just for the elitist assholes who don't give a shit about someone posting a positive deal for the group and just want to find something to whine about. Sorry I missed ONE letter in the title. Glad Amazon helped me out with a pricematch on Uncharted 2 but didn't seem fit to help you - I wonder if it had anything to do with your attitude?

I agree. Looks like he threatened to return and rebuy it.

I got my credit back from a 2 line email, simply asking to get a credit back. Not demanding it.

Awesome. But whether it's one line, two lines, or four...no matter how polite or professional...refunds of this nature over email are hit or miss depending who's on the receiving end of your emails.

It also depends if the CS rep is an outsourced individual. And if the reply to your first email is shot down...any repeated emails will be shot down as the first response will be backed by any successive rep afterward, with repeated copied/pasted corporate responses because they lack either the logic or initiative...or both...to care for a loyal customer. They even mentioned that they would no longer respond to emails for that order of this situation! How arrogant is that for CS?

Then again...if you call and receive a CS rep from the US, like I did (after 3 failed email attempts), things were smooth sailing. No arrogance...just an honest, good old-fashioned, customer service rep that was understanding, courteous, respectful, and simply downright awesome. Three cheers for Anita!

If you ask me, outsourcing some of their CS department overseas was a bad move on Amazon's part as it has a very high potential of driving away some of its most loyal customers, as apparently, they do not represent Amazon well at all.

So to all those that have failed in receiving a refund...remain calm. Stop the emails. Call...and hang up until you get a rep from the US. Be cool...and simply let them know the situation and they will work with you.

I've emailed over 5 times and called as well and have been shot down all times. I just don't think it's in me anymore to continue fighting for $4.99

Buck up soldier, and keep fighting that good fight! I'm telling you, keep calling until you get an understanding individual over the phone. Someone does have the authority to help you out.

Mine even said that if these price drops occurred 3-4 weeks later, it would be an unreasonable request. But since it was only a few days since my order shipped (and more specifically, the day I received my order, taking a total of 3-4 days) it was within reason, and completely justifiable.

It's up to you though. $11 wouldn't make me any richer or poorer...but to me it was the principle...and in the end I got $12 credit into my Amazon account for my troubles. Up to you man.

I ordered 3 x Borderlands for 360 almost 10 days ago, sent an email, got a refund, the refund was even for 8 dollars more than it should have been.

I got shot down as well. Damn!! I hope the $50 prices of all these new games are going to be the normal prices instead of $60.

got this as the last line of my third attempt's reply too. was very infuriating - basically "stop bothering us." to think the amount of money i spend at that site and they can't give a $4 credit for something i ordered 2 days prior.

i will be taking the advice to call tomorrow and get someone not outsourced.

Yeah, I too received that same last line. Abhorrent wording for ANY CS to use towards a customer. I've never had that sent to me by any US Amazon CS rep...only from those outsourced heathens.

Like I said...just chill and make the call. When someone answers, if they have any peculiar accent, at all, hang up immediately...do not be tempted to make conversation of any kind. Repeat this until you get someone that you are sure is from the US.

At this point, mentally pretend that it's your first time talking about your issue. Be cool, be calm, be respectful, ask...do not demand. Ask if there is anything they can do to help you. Odds are they will. Pretend like you're talking to someone you know. For instance, my rep and I started bashing ebay and laughing about it! She was pretty funny. In fact, if I actually knew her we'd probably would have shared some drinks and had sex...but the $12 credit she provided me had to suffice.

Now, if by some stroke of Thor's hammer it doesn't work out for you...my suggestion is to then drink a lot of your favorite alcoholic beverage with friends or while playing one of your favorite games. By next morning...you shouldn't care too much.

At least that was my plan if I got shot down totally. Then again...I was prepared to keep calling back until the second coming if I had to. ;)

The spend $80 get $40 in credit was a much better deal on Borderlands. You could apply that $40 in credit right onto CoD (or dragon age), and who isn't getting that?

Amazon had the bright idea to remove Borderlands 360 from the deal on the last day so I missed out.

I already bought this game from CL for $45 though, just commenting. Everyone buy this game!

Just got shot down by email - I'm not very good at these customer service bits, and always let them win in the end.

Boo!

Congrats to those that have managed to get credit!

EDIT: done, and got my $4 back.
original post:

need
help with borderlands amazon credit

I spoke to amazon - 2 people there actually, and they told me that if I give them the order number of my friend (whoever got the $4 credit - according to my story) than they will give me credit as well. Told them I'll call back today with it, otherwise they said it's tough luck for me.

so, if anyone would be kind enough to give me their first name and the borderlands order number, I'd appreciate it very much. I can give you my info as well, if you'd like, just PM me.

Thanks!
