Burnout Paradise - General Discussion & Info / TROPHY HUNTERS WELCOME!

Rai-Jin Turbo is kind of cool but not as tough to use as I thought it would be. But since it had no boost I had no chance in the stunt run.

No one else heard Mana VERY LOUD all of a sudden and then back to normal volume? Sounded like bad wiring.

I was hearing that all night. Pete started off really low, then went to normal later in the game. Mana when low for a while and born did for like 30 secs. I dunno what is going on.

One annoying non-BP related thing is since the last update is that I faintly hear my echo when talking using my BT headset in every game/chat. Very annoying.

VOIP has been kind of cocked-up across the board for me since the 4.21 FW update...I've had issues in Burnout, GTA4, Haze, and UT3.

It's not exclusive to BT devices, either...I use a USB headset.

wow, thank god I bought this game now and not at launch. I can't imagine the torture of being forced to listen to all this crappy emo/teen poprocks music......

The sad thing is I wouldve bought it on Ps3 also just so I could use my G25 wheel with it (which turned out to be total ass anyway).

You always had the option of turning it off and replacing it with old Burnout soundtracks.

Anyone got 100% yet? (not including online) There's still a few things I got left, but that 20x boost chain is freaking ridiculous! Anyone have tips?

Anyone have 100% yet in this game not including online?

I'm getting there but there are some things that have impossible written most of the way across them. 20x boost chain is one. Anyone have tips on how to do it? location, cars etc?

20x boost chain probably would be best to do on the railroad track areas. You know the bridge where that has the railroad tracks on top (you used the median ramps to jump up on them), those tracks go a long way and theres not that much obstruction.

Well the only reason I ever got 10x was an online race w/ traffic turned off. If the race is long enough, that might work for 20x too. Even though there's no traffic, you still get a boost boost for driving on the other side of the road. This wouldn't work on the train tracks.

I'm up to 95/96%, but I'll probably stop after finishing the Showtimes. 20x boost chain will drive me nuts.

To let everyone know, I'll probably play this Thursday, but next Thursday is very liikely since I'm looking at having another online game being played on Thursday at 10pm EST next week (but don't worry, if people don't mind, Burnout will still be played. However, it will be on a different day just for next week. The reason was mentioned in CAG PSN Gaming thread).

I just got this with the Sony coupon for GS this week, so hopefully I'll have the time/energy to join you all next week. 10pm is a little late to begin a game for me, but I'm usually up til 11-12 anyway, so I'll probably do it regardless.

There will probably be a CAG night next week on Friday for Burnout Paradise, since Warhawk is moving to Thursday next week (to celebrate my birthday). I just gotta get the word around.

A big moment in Burnout history is just around the corner.

We’re working flat out to bring you yet another free content pack for Burnout Paradise – and this one’s the Bike Pack!

If you missed our recent posts, we’re trying something new with downloadable content this year. We want to completely change the game we brought you back in January with regular game changing updates. That means more than just a couple of cars and a new level.

For the first time in a Burnout game, we’re bringing you motorcycles. We’ve already talked about the 2 bikes available from Day 1 and some of the bike-specific gameplay that’s on the way, but there’s more to this pack than that. We’re introducing night time to the streets of Paradise City and with it, some unique gameplay.

When the pack arrives, just head for the nearest Junkyard and pick one of the bikes – either the Nakamura Firehawk V4 or the Nakamura FV1100.

Here’s a map showing Paradise City and all the different events you can try – Race, Road Rage, Marked Man, Burning Route and Stunt Run. For the full run-down on how these work, check out the video on our website.

Selecting one of the bikes triggers a whole load of new gameplay – 70 new challenges, 38 new against-the-clock races (Burning Rides) and new “Road Rules” record times for 64 streets – it’s like a whole new game to play through!

And if that’s not enough, once the sun sets at 8pm, the game changes.

The lights on the bike switch on, the traffic thins out creating an all new environment for high speed racing and we trigger some night-specific gameplay – half of the new Burning Rides take place at night and are called Midnight Rides.

Here’s how the clock works:
From 8pm to 8am it’s night. We figured you’d want to decide how fast this comes around, so we made the clock customizable. You can easily switch between day and night and try out the different gameplay whenever you like. You can also control the speed of change – anything from 24 minutes to real-time (24hrs), if you’re up for an epic session!

If you play an online game, we automatically switch all players to the host time, fast forwarding through day or night as necessary. I swear you never get tired of seeing it!

We’ll be back with more next week – our final post before Bikes go live!
Some info on the PS Blog about how the bikes work with the night and day gameplay. I like the option to customize how time works, so you can keep it real-time or close to it if you want to focus on night missions.

Sweet Jesus, that looks like fun! Thanks for posting it, Frisky.

It's a little weird that the bikes have riders but the cars in the game don't have drivers.
It would look weird to have bikes without riders, wouldn't it? ;)
Yeah, I get it...I just like pointing out inconsistencies when I see them.

It's one of the many services I provide. ;)

Well I just picked it up for 25 bucks new at Gamestop. So far the game is really awesome but my only complaint as of now is that I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE I AM GOING. I will try to start an event but loose it because I get lost. I guess I'm not skilled enough to go West dodge traffic and win the race at the same time but I will deffinatley be playing this one for a while and as I play more I hope I will get better.

Yeah the first several hours are spent memorizing the map layout. Eventually you'll figure out where things are and quick routes to get them.

On a personal note I have all time and crash road rules. The only thing left is 14 more wins on licence which will be a bitch cos they are mostly stunt runs. I left them to the end.

Brit, I'll show you my easy stunt run route next time we're on. The hardest part is keeping the stunt run alive long enough to get to the starting point.

Like I said before, I'll be willing to play Burnout Paradise on Friday this week (Thursday is my Warhawk birthday party). If people want to play sooner, I'll be around Tuesday evening also.

Well lads. I finally got my elite license. Took some toughness and caffeine, but I've finally done it. Getting you elite unlocks all the cars' 'gold' paint job. Pretty sweet.

All that's left is 4 awards that i'll probably never get and tons of online challenges. ;)

There's an excellent map on gamefaqs.com for BP that I used while I was learning the city. It shows the streets and intersections that events take place at so it's pretty helpful. This game definitely rocks and pulled me in big time from the start.
Is it settle that we are going to play this game on Friday?
This week I think we will, but I hope others agree upon playing too.

They said fall but that's kinda vague.

So my uneducated guess would be late october/november. Bikes should come this month and then trophies month after, so full packaged version would hit shortly after that .... hell what do I know?
Tomorrow, I'm looking at having Burnout Paradise.

I'm going to try talking to people to get interests.
I get off work tomorrow around 8pm so most likely I can play... yay!!!
let me know and I'll change the title.

wow this game blows completely with a wheel. It's like digital input or something w/ no analog variance. Initial D worked fine w/ the wheel though so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Game is great on gamepad though.

I'm looking at having Burnout Paradise at 10pm EST maybe, but only for an hour, or I can start as early as 9pm EST, but have it run until 11pm EST (so some can play both this and UT3 IF they want, or just play one or the other, I don't care).

I'm going to be sending PSN messages to people trying to tell them about this.

I decided to start at 9pm EST today, or that's when I'll be on. People can join throughout (well, I know for sure that's when I'll get some of my friends together).

The news that the bike update is going to be free was a surprise to me. Weren't they planning to charge for one of these updates?

I like the sound of the day/night cycle, and the fact that you can choose whether it's real-time or not is extremely cool. I'm really tempted to pick this up.

Bikes can crash, but not like the cars. The biker gets thrown off and everything resets.

It's nice to see that they'll be talking more about trophies next week.
