I unpacked a bunch of signage at my store today, and there's a BOGO sale going on for all "previously played" games $14.99 and under. Sale starts 6/26 and ends 7/17.

There's a list of "featured games" I received from corporate, but the selection varies by store. Everything $14.99 and under works, across all platforms. Of course, you pay for the more expensive one.

Additionally, there's a buy two get two free sale on all the "previously viewed" DVDs. It's really not that great of a sale: we had a 3 for 20 sale a couple weeks ago that was a lot better.

While there may be some good deals buried in piles of pre-owned games at BBs, it is worth mentioning the quality of the games is not always immaculate. I purchased Devil May Cry 1 there a year or two back, and it freezes at the very end of the game, not allowing me to continue playing the game at higher difficulties. I've also purchased some other games, like Metal Gear Solid 1 within the last year, for cheap prices, but I paid very little.

If possible, look the disc over for any major scratches before you agree to purchase. I also think there is a return period; I think a week? Maybe the TC can help us out on this one!

Fatal Frame II DC (cover insert but no manual) $15
KOF 02/03 (complete but in a black case)

and according to the BB employee the return policy is 30 days.....hope shes right in case they dont work....
 
My store has some shitty sport games for PS2, that's about it. They have Call of Duty 3 for $25. That's about the only decent game there.

None of the pre-owned prices are ymmv, right? My bb had Ultimate Ghouls n Ghosts priced 24.99, as opposed to the $14.99 someone posted above.

Also, I bought GTA LCS for 14.99 there last week, and I asked the employee if I'd be able to return and rebuy it. She said no. If the return policy is 30 days, can't I just wait till they put it out again and buy it?

Technically, yes. The important thing is when are you going to see them put it out because they aren't going to put it in stock out right away, probably overnight; also you have to be sure no one else snatch that returned copy before you get your hands on it again.
 
I picked up xbox versions of Incredible Hulk:Ultimate Destruction and Thief Deadly Shadows for a total of $10.86. Thanks for the awesome tip.
I'm jealous of the people that found fatal frame.
 
Just a note: My local BBs are franchise stores (not company stores). I asked them about this promo, so one of the ladies called someone, who said that they would not be starting this promo at their franchise stores until July 2nd.

In the meantime, they are holding the 2 games I wanted (.hack Part 2 and Xenosaga), which was nice of them.

lol that is crazy... went to 2 stores tonight and ended up snagging a mint complete with demo cd copy of Zone of the Enders for $4.99 and then as a filler picked up a complete copy of CY Girls lol don't know if it sucks but ah well two games for $5.00 and some tax is great... im going to hit up some more places tomorrow....

I have seen Siren mentioned on this thread is that game any good or something? I passed one at $9.99 because it was missing the manual

When I went to buy my games, the cashier rang them up regularly (no B1G1 discount applied) and I informed her of the game sale. She said, "Let me check my barcodes. If the computer doesn't do it automatically, then I'll probably have to use my barcodes." She pulled out a piece of paper with barcode stickers all over it and scanned it for every game to get the B1G1 to apply. Try telling your cashier about the barcodes. Good luck!

That is true since I'm an employee and for the person who needs a pic I think I can sneak a picture of the sign endcap tomorrow. Company stores pretty much follow promo plans through communication updates. Today we actually made endcaps for Buy 2 get 2 free on Previously Viewed/Owned movies and 1 end cap for the buy 1 get 1 free Previously Viewed/Owned game.

I think that franchise rarely gets corporate updates on these sales, I think that the pricing structure for rentals, new and used stuff are applied at every store and I think (franchise and company owned). But promos each store has depends if its company or franchise owned.

And for the guy who asked about how the computer takes things off, some promos are taken off when we hit the total button, some need coupons. My guess is that it depends on the duration of the promotion since temporary promos are easier to be handled by "coupons" by the register and stuff like buy 1 get 1 free or 2 for 20, 3 for 20 , 4 for 20 is easily done by the system (as long as the cashier scans the every item thats included in the promo sequentially).

[/quote]Pricing at franchise stores (at least at the ones in MD/VA I've been to) is very YMMV and seems to be the manager's decision.

In particular the stores near my school in VA had ALL used games for either $6.99 or $7.99, depending on the store. 2003 sports title? $6.99. Rare RPG? $6.99. I've picked up literally dozens of rare goodies at that price over the years (Fatal Frame 1 PS2, Grownlancer Generations, Star Wars Jedi Knight II GC, etc)

Those are some excellent finds. None of the stores around here have anything that good........ probably because I already cleaned them out of the good stuff months ago.
 
I didn't get to take a pic of the promo sign since it was busy today, but I found something interesting the buy 2 get 2 free on used movies functions like buy 1 get 1 free but no employee is supposed to ring it up like that I suppose there are limitations of the coupon barcode design.

But the selection of games for the buy 1 get one free for 14.99 and under is YMMV some stores you will find hidden gems others you will find pure crap, I know that each store is supposed to dedicate an endcap or "bargin bin" for the games that qualify but I advise people to check the rest of the used game collection available since you never know what they can find.

Also theres bound to be a lot of pricing mistakes due to the mountain of used movies and games we usually have to reprice and such and sometimes they get lost in the pile which will remain mispriced.

For the guys that get lucky to get the price adjusted from the "computer price" to the mismarked price you guys are very lucky since from experience a lot of the managers just say I'm sorry but I can't give you the price since the correct price is in the system" and others managers are nice and make the adjustments. So that really depends on the manager on hand.
 
One store I was in had crap for PS2 stuff with a prices Kingdom Hearts II used for $44 lol........ My biggest thing I saw there and had to laugh about was a sealed copy of a PSone madden game for $0.99 they had it marked as used but it was still in plastic with the security strip...

So far only hit two stores which were about 2 miles apart .. 1 store had crap and the other I found a complete with demo and manual Zone of the enders for $6.99 (disc's are mint like new) and seeing that was so cheap I grabbed CY Girls lol which I don't know if they are any good... Might go back to that same store and move up to the big spending $9.99 and snag up Siren and Maximo:Army of Zin... Are Siren and that maximo any good? Either way two games for $10 is a good deal..

I heard the sale goes on everywhere officialy for good on Monday, so Ive been holding out (and hid the games haha) and calling everyday to check if the sale started and get the same answer. On the plus side, tomorow is my birthday so I will have money to spend. :cool:

I've been cleaning out these same stores during their buy 2 get 1 deals but they always seem to have at least a few new good titles whenever I go in.

Anyways, I stopped by one of the stores again tonight and grabbed these:

- Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebrus (ps2)- $14.99
- Silent Scope Complete (xbox)- FREE!!

- Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows (ps2)- $14.99
- Daxter (psp)- FREE!!

As usual none of these were marked correctly, I just brought a bunch of titles up to the register and had them re-scan them.
 
I fear that the two BBs near me will have crap. I went into one not long ago and didn't see anything for this sale. Both are franchise stores BTW.
 
LOL I wonder if the copy of Galleon I traded into my local BB about 6 months to a year ago is still on the shelf marked 'used' for $4.99 still? I got around $17.50 to $19 for it, but I guess it was a stagnant game that didn't move AT ALL in their store.

So, Scarface is down to $14.99 for Xbox @ BB now? Good to know if true, since I've wanted the game for a while, but wouldn't pay $40-50 for it.

Too bad Transformers(the movie game)for PS2 JUST came out, as I'd love to snag a Mercenaries like game for PS2, even though I usually abhor movie tie in games. :whistle2:X

Well, since I can't sleep, I guess I'll hit up my local BB's in a bit, see what they have......wish me luck....

Galleon Xbox traded in for $19 my friend because I traded in a few copies of it myself.

Yes, Scarface is a Greatest Hits title on PS2 so it is universally $20 new everywhere so it would be $14.99 used at BB/GR.

I saw Darkstalkers Chronicles at my BB but it was 24.99...I was gonna ask them to check the price but I feel kinda dumb because the sticker is right there.

I did grab Lumines + Fatal Frame 2 (no manual :()

I also saw Pirates! (should I grab this?), Incredible Hulk, Red Ninja, Oddworld, Resident Evil: Outbreak, Riddick ($7!).

The prices are in line with the prices in the thread.

I would go ahead and ask anyways. I did for UGG and they said the price was $14.99 as opposed to the $24.99 on the sticker. They then told me that they didn't have it though and the box was there by accident, so I got it from another store.
 
Sweet! I just snaged a used copy of Advance Wars DS as part of the BOGO. I got Metroid Pinball for the other game, but only because it was the only other game that I kinda wanted but didn't have. But Still just finging Advance Wars for $15 was enough of a deal.

Lucky...Oh well I check out my Blockbuster, nothing that I would buy and no DS games at all aviliable. Looks Like the local one dosn't carry them, so I'm SOL.
 
First Blockbuster had a tempting Alien Hominoid for GC, but it had a faded cover and there was no other game that I wanted.

I went to a GameRush next and found:

That's odd.. I didn't know BB carried DS/GBA games. Mine has PSP but no DS or GBA games unless they're hidden somewhere.
 
A lot of the BBVs near me have their DS/GBA games with the GC games. Sadly, it is usually only like 1/2 aisle's worth for all 3 of those systems combined.

I'm pretty sure most of the DS games are just old rentals they are now selling. That's why most don't have the instructions or a box.
 
Im loving this sale I found 6 games already I wanted and only spent around $33 the only question is the damn manuals ? do they toss em when they get these in and rebox them as rentals ?

Anyone know where you could get manuals for games?

Only other comment to this is the old EBgames used stickers have nothing on these used BB stickers.. These damn things laugh at the stuff called "OOPs" I used to get the EB stickers off with....
 
So I went to the one BB in town and they had Dirge of Cerberus for $14.99, which I thought about buying. The reviews said it was okay what did you guys think of it?

And for my second game I was thinking about the GodFather, Darkwatch (disc only), Shadow Hearts: Covenant (disc only), or Zone of Enders. Since I haven't played any of them what do you guys suggest? Besides Shadow Hearts, do any of the listed games have longer then 10 hrs of gameplay.

They are pretty good games, The thing that makes it hard for me to bite is that they are disc only but shadow hearts is worth picking up and darkwatch..

the only one I could see not worth it is Godfather but to each his own I guess

Actually Derrick, many BB's have the manuals and inserts for all the extra copies of the game behind the counter in a drawer or in a box IN the drawer. Most times all you have to do is ASK and if they're not busy, they should be able to find the manuals and even the case inserts for you.

As for the stickers, if you GENTLY and SLOWLY peel them off after lifting up one or more corners of the sticker, you CAN get it off of there with very little residue left behind. It just takes a little patience to get those stickers off, since sometimes due to price drops, they are like EB/GS and put on MULTIPLE layers of them.
