Went to a local a Gamestop today and they had a sign up today for this sale starting up again. It looks like its going on through May 27, 2007. Picked up a few games. The extra 10% off with you GS card works as well with the deal.

Another Gamestop said it didn't start until Monday, April 16.

well i swore more of the games i got were bc. as it stands im 2 of 9.
oh well ill go back tomorrow.
Ive learned somethign interesting in the last couple days at gs. if you buy stuff and use store credit and a credit card and return the items, the entire amount will be credited to your cc and not store credit.
while that is a system error, this is probably ymmv, but i returned one of the games from the b2g1 and was credited back the amount i paid for it, thus i got a b1g1. nice.

The only problem with eb/gamestop are the games are usually in piss poor condition. I planned on getting dark alliance 2 and jedi outcast 2 but dark alliance looked like someone attempted to have sex with the case and insert, plus it didn't have a manual and for 35 that's just crazy talk.

Walked out with just phantom dust for 5 which was in good condition.
I really hope you were being sarcastic. If not, I feel really sorry for you.

I got PD Orta, Counterstrike (seems really dated and boring) and RtCW for $16.xx
Counter Strike and RtCW were the first Xbox Live games I REALLY got into. I absolutely love those two, along with Crimson Skies, which I picked up today. Such a great game, but nobody's playing! Definetly worth $4.

Grabbed Dead or Alive Ultimate (which actually came with the damn original box for once, rather than the two cases being taped together), Max Payne and Max Payne 2. Not too bad.

Saw Beyond Good & Evil on Xbox, but I didn't grab it since I had it already for GameCube. Anyone happen to be looking for it? Also saw Capcom vs SNK SVC Chaos. Don't think I've ever seen that one before. The price kinda pushed me away from it.

I gotta say that all of the games i picked up from this deal have no only ran decently but the cases are in decent condition. I was very surprised overall, bravo to gamestop for taking better care of the cases as of late.

I was so tempted to pick up SFA, PD:Orta, and some of the other new BC games, but I chickened out at the last minute. The SFA copy I saw looked in pretty nice condition, too. Damn I hope it's still there the next time I'm able to go there...

Went in to EB today and they denied me. Had no idea what I was talkin about with the sale. Was about to drop a lot of $$$ and they said the sale wasn't goin on.

Ummm first of all, cag1000, it normally doesn't come up till they hit TOTAL on the register. And, this SHOULD be chainwide, but maybe your local store didn't get the memo yet?

Oh and George Costanza, did you try looking at local video store chains for Dark Alliance II, since I found mine at a grocery store chain(Wegmans, in NY n PA, I think) video rental place.

It had only been rented out maybe 2-3 times and they turned it into a preplayed for me for under $20 AND they had a sticker stating that if the manual wasn't returned with the game, it was a $10 charge. So, because of that, I got it COMPLETE and in WAYYYYYY better shape than the GS copies I've seen.

Try your local video store chains, is all I can tell people if you can't find a harder to find game at GS or any other big chain. I may head back to that Wegmans and see if they have the PS2 version of the game in stock too. If they do, I may buy it(if they let me) and Ebay that bad boy for $60-70 to cover my Xbox copy.

I picked up Jade Empire, Full Spectrum Warrior 1 and Fable yesterday. Wanted Republic Commando but they could not find either of the copies of the computer said they had. Suprisingly they had a ton of stuff, but none of the others I wanted. Time
to check another GS this weekend
Their inventory was obviously already screwed up as evidenced by the lack of a copy of MK:A when they had a beautiful, shiny case for it. Furthermore, they open the goddamn new games and stick them on the shelves. The right thing to do would have been to figure out a way to make it right. I mean, his tag said "Store Manager", he's supposed to "manage" things like this.
Again, I hope you never have to work retail. EVER. I was talking about the retroactive effect of what would happen if you sold new games for used prices with separate sku's. As for opening a new game and putting it out on the shelves, that's part of the deal with any game store that has a non-enclosed shelf/rack display. You can't have live games on the floor because it's way too easy for people to steal them. You are supposed to take the disc/manual out, put the disc in the manual, baggie them and file alphabetically in a bin. When you have people that just don't care working for you, that always doesn't happen and it makes stuff harder to find. If you can't understand that concept, go to a store with a glass enclosure ala Hastings, Target, Wal-Mart and test your luck there. Understand this though. They also can't find stuff sometimes for the same reason as pointed out before. Even if they show having it in their computers. As for the store manager, it's always at his discretion how to handle a situation and he isn't obliged to "make it right". You are trying to bargain hunt and you missed out. Suck it up and go on to the next store/deal. Take the good with the bad and deal with it when things don't go your way all the time.

The boxes had stickers on them of course, all except one had manuals (they even gave me a brand new shrinkwrapped manual for Manhunt), and most importantly, the disk were almost perfect for each game.

I'm going to go back again today or tomorrow to see if a different store has a few other games I want.

Oh wow, I just noticed the new list of backwards compatible games. Maybe it is time for me to pick up a used Xbox or save up for an elite and further updates to the list. Hopefully by then there will be more games that will work. :)

i got street fighter collection(thnk you new bc update) halo and ninja gaiden. I think halo and street fighter will consume most of my time for now because ninja gaiden is the hardest.

i picked up marvel vs capcom 2 half life 2 unreal championship 2 mechassault 2 star wars battlefront 2 and silent scope complete yeah i know all 2's cept silent scope i'm still trying to update my collection

I picked up for about $20 total:

Unreal Championship 2 (complete)
Oddworld Munch's Oddysee (missing manual, but has case)
I didnt know Orta was $4.99, that is a great price for a great game.
Actually, Orta was $7.99 (still a great price), but the rest were $4.99. The 10% off discount brought the total price down to like $20.66 or something and then tax was about a dollar.

Rainbow Six Lockdown ($4.99), NCAA March Madness 04 (1.99), Madden NFL 2005 (Free), Goldeneye Rouge Agent ($4.99), Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow (4.99), Rainbow Six 3 (Free), ESPN NHL 2k5 (1.99), ESPN NFL 2k5 (1.99), Max Payne 2 (Free)

Total was $20. Thanks for the heads up OP.

I don't think I fared as well as some others in this thread, but I'm glad I got what I got. And besides, everything was in REALLY good condition (case, manual, disc, etc). Kudos to GS. :applause:

$9.99 Star Wars: KOTOR
$9.99 Fable Lost Chapters
$7.99 (Free) Panzer Dragoon Orta

FYI, I had a helluva time trying to find Fable LC. The normal Fable was much more common, and it wasn't until I visited the 7th Gamestop around town did they have Fable Lost Chapters. Unfortunately, they didn't have the PH case that comes with Fable LC, so I had to compromise by getting the original case.

Now I have a "hybrid" Fable LC.

Went back and snagged:

Chronicles of Riddick (Free $5.99)
Panzer Dragoon Orta ($7.99)
Ninja Gaiden ($7.99)

... and three $.99 sports titles for replacement cases.

All in all, I can say that my GS is fairly wiped out, aside from a few things that I already own (Fable, Fable:LC, Shenmue 2). Of course, now I have a huge backlog of games due to this and that $5 off GC coupon a few weeks ago. Not enough time!

I might head back for a bunch of .99 cent sports games for the cases like carthutup said. Hell i might even have some fun with the games. Yeah probablly not.

I just noticed a beatiful thing at Gamestop. The way I remember buying games during the b2G1 deal was that the clerk had the ability to maximize the discount or screw you over which always led me to make them do seperate transactions. For example, I bought Panzer ($7.99), Ninja gaiden($7.99), and Ultimate Spiderman($7.99), and three bargain games at $1.99 each. They use to have to discount the games manually so that they could either discount one of the $7.99 game to FREE and one of the $1.99 games to free, but I always got the clerk who said that the terms of the deals forces him to give him to give two of the $1.99 games for free because he had a moral and ethical obligation to look out for the bottom line so I always had to have them rering it in seperate transactions, now it comes up automatically and will look for the biggest discount for the customer. That is great, no seperate transaction and no need to keep an eye on the receipt to make sure it came through.

Also, I noticed that they, for some odd reason, keep the generic cases in the front, but when they get the actual games for you, they sometimes have the full games behind the counter. I hate that, since I will not buy a game without case and instructions, and I will pass on a game for that reason, and they wind up having the the full game behind the counter. So they got annoyed with me for asking to verify if they had full copies of games and they just said "whats the difference, you can print the art work and get tips and cheats online for free". Well, all in all, a good deal and I cant wait for next weeks b2g1 deal on PS2 and PSP. I am going to score KH2, Lumines 2, Makai Kingdom, and some more great games for my lacking PSP and Ps2 library. Thanks!

Yeah, the cheap sports titles are great for replacement cases, but there's still a problem. Namely, it's tough to find sports games without the (insert officially licensed whatever sport) hologram on them. I've always had a tough time getting those off, so the majority of them are fairly useless to me.

Last one I found without the sticker was NCAA 2003. Everything else seemed to have the hologram.

... on that note, anyone know of a good way to get those stickers off?

Some of the stores that were EB Games stores (or still are) have not had the software in their computers updated yet and still do it manually. Most of them have seen me buy enough games that they always give me the good discount. Sometimes I see a new guy though who does not understand how it works. I usually buy a dozen games at a time with this sale so it helps me a alot ehn they bundle the more exoensive titles together.

I went to three locations looking for Panzor, Mercenaries and Spiderman 2 with Fable Lost Chapters as a backup, none of the three had all three at once. Couldn't even find one copy of Fable either. For some reason the last store also had a huge selection of xbox games without original artwork, I would say as high as 85 percent of their xbox games were like that.

I believe someone mentioned in thread that some Eb's are gutting newer games and puttting them out as used. I can confirm this at least at mine. I got MAFIA, ENCLAVE, True Crimes LA, each had the seal slit on the side and were $4.99 a pop. Nice filler titles.

I found a nice copy of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, but I couldnt really find any other games of that value, and I didnt want to pick that up for 35, possibly Indigo Prophecy for 13, and get a free game with low value. If I get a free game, it better be close to the value of the games Im paying for, or I might as well just buy some cheaper games and baldur seperately.

Also, anyone know about this game called Sniper Elite? It was 35 also, whats so great about this?

Sniper Elite is supposed to be one of the most realistic war games made to date. You are a sniper who must quietly infiltrate enemy territory, set charges and traps, and, unsurprisingly, snipe the heck out of people. Realism comes into play in the physics and wind models placed on the bullet once you fire it; you must take into account wind direction, height, distance, gravity's effect on the bullet, and the speed at which your target is moving - no pointing and shooting. The game is also realistic in the deliberate, patient way in which the game is played. Reviewers said it's intentionally difficult to land a shot, but doing so is a result of skill and is therefore extremely satisfying (especially the gory headshots).

I want it myself, but I think it sold poorly and appears to be fairly rare.

If its that good, I might pick it up with BG: DA2, but this returns me back to my "Whats a good free game with around a 35 dollar value?", especilally when Im about to spend 70(edge card to 63) on Dark Alliance 2 and Sniper Elite. I wouldnt mind picking up a game like Jedi Knight 2 if I could find it.

I remember seeing Pro Fishing Challenge, an ebay seller claims its "Banned." Either way, I'm not exactly interested in this type of game, anyone know why its value is also so high, or if this "banned" claim by an ebay seller is true?

Well I'm not necessarily saying it's a pillar of modern gaming, but it certainly is an original gameplay experience if you are into the niche in which it fits. IGN only gave it a 7.7, for instance, but that is partly because it is such a niche title that bucks conventional gameplay style.

It hit a couple here, but neither store had shit. I really wanted a copy of Fable LC and Lego Star Wars 2, but neither store had either. I picked up some crap titles that I will probably never play, just to go with the 1-2 that I will. I snagged:

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
XIII
Deus Ex, Invisible War
Clone Strike / Tetris Wars
Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers
Lord of the Rings, The Third Age

After the card, all six were $17, so I can't complain about the crap selection that much.

Deus Ex: Invisible War and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers are both awesome games (Deus Ex especially if you have played the first one on the PC). I hate the LotR movies and LOVE playing LotR games co-op with a friend.

I heard of so many people picking up Fable I thought it was worth a shot.

I got:

9.99 Fable
9.99 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
7.99 Forza Motorsport (Free)

Enjoying Forza very much and have yet to try Fable. Splinter Cell Chaos was just kind of a filler because I did not want to pay 14.99 for Halo 1, which I have yet to buy because I refuse to pay more than 9.99 for it.

Anyway, all 3 for $20. I plan on hitting up other stores to see what's there.

If anyone finds an extra copy of Halo 2 used...PM me? Not sure if i can ask that here, but my EB had like 3 copies of Halo 1 used, and 1 copy of Halo 2 new (29.99). Also, nearly half of the games there were in the Xbox cases with the comic/cartoonish cover with the title written on. Anyone else have about the same?

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet and I'm not sifting through 7 pages, but the new GI has another one of those 10% off/10% extra coupons.

That's pretty much Gamestop's MO. Shitty merchandise, terrible customer service and decent prices.

I guess there's two sides to no artwork / manual issue. Yes, it sucks for those who buy it, but then if you need to trade in something that doesn't have it, they'll take it where other stores don't.

Thing that pisses me off is when I purchase something there with minor scratches, but it still works fine, I have no problem that. Yet when I take the same disc, in the same condition (I treat my games well), and try to trade it back in, they give me the "refurbishment fee" crap. Charging me $2 or more against my trade even though it's in the same condition that I purchased it THERE.

And while there prices are OK for the most part. Their trade-in values suck.

Seriously though, eight pages later and you think that kind of comment still matters?

And don't stress about trade-in prices too much. There will never be a store that gives you good trade-in prices all the time and will stay in that business for as long as EB/GS. EB/GS make MOST of their money by taking in trade-ins and selling them back for a huuuuge profit, but you and me still go there and buy them up in spite of the ridiculous amount of money they make on these sales. It's how the company survives and it's how most of us get used games.

One store told me this coupon cannot be combined, another told me it could. The one that said it could seemed more knowledgeable, thoug the coupon clearly states not combinable. Have yet to test it...

Got some good stuff today.

Forza, Breakdown, Phantom Dust, Mercenaries, Jade Empire LE, AAAAND...

Barbie Horse Adventure!!! fuck yeah! (Supposedly worth a bit to the ebay suckers, gonna pay for my other purchases this week)
