I have a Hastings in Helena, Montana and aside from running the only Blockbuster in town out of business they are pretty good. It's like a Book/Music/Game/T-shirt/DVD/B-R/Electronics/Music Instrument/Coffee house - store all in one. The most interesting thing about the store is that all of the Used merchandise is side-by-side with the brand new stuff. So, if I don't want to get that $25 special edition DVD I can grab a slightly-used version for $12. I have never ordered from them online.
Only thing about the games (aside from no used PC games) is that when they come in used, they get wrapped in a sealed plastic bag that says "used" and you don't know what condition the disk is in. But SOMETIMES they have already run the disk through a buffer and it looks spotless or it was well-taken care of/not played much.
I hit the Buy 2 deal a couple months ago (they have been running it all Summer) and picked up some titles that I wanted to play, but while at checkout I made them open 'em up so I could see before buying and sent the CS person back twice on Soul Calibur 4 (XB360). The first two disks were garbage, one case didn't have instructions and the third was perfect. So, you are taking a chance, but maybe they do online sales differently. They need better handling when a disk is traded in to when it hits the shelves. Easy to tell if a used book is ok, but a little more time and work to buff a disk. I personally don't like buffed disks because the new buffers shave a tiny layer of plastic off to make it perfect again. Unfortunately this means the disk is also now thinner. (That said, I have never had a disk break on me, ever.)
Their old gaming-centric website, playhastings.com has now been merged into their new/old non-gaming, gohastings.com ..playhastings.com had great deals on selling your used games and you could get discount coupons from the site that you could redeem in store. I have not noticed any thing like that on the new/old site.
Hope this helps some people make informed decisions. I like the store, but YMMV.
