Hey all,

Has anyone ever bought a refurbished 360 hard drive from Gamestop or anywhere else? I am interested in upgrading from my 20GB but I really, really feel dirty forking out a full $150 for a 120GB which feels like a huge rip-off. I have seen the 60GB for as low as $70 and was considering that instead. I was curious if anyone else has bought a used drive or if anyone knows anything about the reliability or any other issues that might arise from not buying new.

If there is info about this in any other thread, feel free to point me to it. I did a search before I posted but didn't really find any info. Thanks!

You should be fine, the hard drives don't seem to be anywhere near as problematic as the actual hardware. If you do end up buying one used be sure to test a backwards compatible game Xbox 1 game on it. There are a lot of Chinese knockoff 360 hard drives floating around that look legitimate and the people who make them usually don't bother to install the backwards compatible partition on them. It should still work fine for regular 360 use but Xbox 1 games won't play.

Speaking of which...
I havent bought any but I have traded them in for $$$ at the TheifStop
did you do it recently, and how much (and which hdd)?

I got a 120GB hard drive from there for like $70 used after coupon and edge card last year, came from an elite, works great.

If you are buying it in person make sure that the the HD has 60, 120, or 250 on it. Only 20s don't have how big it is written on the side of it like that as far as I know (Oh and the Halo 3 one just has Orange foil and Halo 3 written on it.)
