Maybe John can add a short delay? The new drop down menus are a nice touch, though I think it needs to be adjusted a bit since it's way too easy to accidentally mouseover them and have these giant menus take over the screen that takes a lot longer than I'd like to disappear. Just messing with the tabs up top like in any modern browser and moving the mouse down to the page itself triggers them, so maybe requiring a click on "forums" and "moderation" to have that appear would be a better way to handle it or just requiring us to click on "community" or "games" to bring up the drop down menu would be better?
It's a limitation of Invision's CKEditor implementation. You can have one set of CSS for the editor, so if we make it dark it'll also be dark on the light style.Would it be possible to make the background in the reply box black as well, to match the rest of the theme (when you click on it it turns from a gray to white)? I know you got a million other things going on, but this is something I'd like to see done. It's just blinding when I'm looking at CAG at night or right when I wake up. Thanks John.
It never did that to me, are you sure you checked "remember me"? Obviously it's a mute point now, but I never had that problem in 2.0 so I think it was something weird on your end that changed with the update.I got some positive feedback. I remember old CAG would log you out after 10-15 minutes or so and mark every thread as read. So I'm liking how new CAG 3.0 does not auto-log you out if you let it sit idle and it doesn't mark threads read. Just a minor issue I thought I'd bring up how I like it.
Agreed. It never logged me out, but the "mark everything as read after 10-15 minutes" thing happened to me a ton. This is by far the best upgrade to the site.
Yes, this is the one reason I still use the site. I don't even look at the forums anymore, just my subscribed threads. I'll start deal hunting once the site works again. You can change notification settings:Yes, this is the one reason I still use the site. I don't even look at the forums anymore, just my subscribed threads. I'll start deal hunting once the site works again. I noticed the groups are gone.
IDK what I have to do to my settings, but I don't like the 'green dots', I prefer the stars. I also only want notifications if I get quoted or liked (via email).
The search function is still shit, but it has never worked well.
Thanks guys, but I am not getting the proper notifications, even though they are selected. I only want them if someone quotes me or likes a post, but I didn't even get that when you quoted me. But I have one that says 53 people posted in the amazon warehouse thread.Stars are threads you have posted in. Dots are threads you have not posted in.
You didn't get a notification because I didn't quote that post. Thanks guys, but I am not getting the proper notifications, even though they are selected. I only want them if someone quotes me or likes a post, but I didn't even get that when you quoted me.
YES! I thought my ISP had fallen asleep at the wheel. The sites been running about as fast as someone sucking molasseses through a straw today, and I've also experienced a few timeouts/server not responding messages as well. Rather annoying to say the least. Is the site slow as a turtle for anyone else lately? I've even gotten some time outs in the last day or two.
It's faster today, of sure, but there's there's still a bit of notable lag after I click a link (and this only happens with CAG).Slow again today.
Yeah, it takes about 28 seconds to log into the site. Navigation is better though. It's faster today, of sure, but there's there's still a bit of notable lag after I click a link (and this only happens with CAG).
Made some major changes to how things are cached last night, so it should be much faster from now on.Yeah, it's great now. This is the fastest I've seen the site since 3.0 went up.
I've run into this before, and I'm not always sure what causes it, but sometimes it's do to the 's turning into "s for whatever reason and breaking the tag. I've also had it be do to bullets and emoticons, but it doesn't look like that's your problem. I expect you've already tried removing them, saving the post, and then redoing them so my only suggestion would be try doing it with bbcode and saving it that way. For whatever reason that's actually worked in the past, and occasionally you can actually see what's making the problem by switching to that mode when it's hidden in the new editor.Hey John, in the OP of my PSN thread, I've got two lists at the end that are supposed to be entirely contained in the exact same custom spoiler tags, but only the first tag works. I've tried everything that I can think of to fix it, but it seems like that closing tag on the second list disappears despite any attempts to fix it. It's still there when I edit the post, so it seems like this is just a bug that I'm hoping you can fix. I know it's not an issue with multiple custom spoiler tags in a post since the posts below have multiples in each and they work just fine.
I'm going to include the exact same lists here in the hopes that it's a good example of what is going on:

Edit: Crap. It works just fine here, but not in my thread.
I don't know what kind of drugs you fed the servers, but pages are loading up in the blink of an eye, even with my crap connection.Made some major changes to how things are cached last night, so it should be much faster from now on.
The best kind.I don't know what kind of drugs you fed the servers, but pages are loading up in the blink of an eye, even with my crap connection.
I'll look into this as soon as I get a minute, probably next week.Hey John, in the OP of my PSN thread, I've got two lists at the end that are supposed to be entirely contained in the exact same custom spoiler tags, but only the first tag works. I've been asking this since day 1 of the update, so I wouldn't hold your breath (When can we realistically expect wikis for the first post to return?
I just logged in for the first time in months. I think something was wrong with my account post-update, because for the longest time I couldn't log in despite correct credentials.I miss the old recent topics tab on the right side :\
Have you checked the "What's New" tab at the top of the page? It lets you see all new posts narrowed by time, forum (e.g. deals, trade, general, etc), only content you follow/have posted in, and stuff like that. Hopefully that's at least a little like what you want, though it doesn't affect the homepage unfortunately.I just logged in for the first time in months. I've frequented CAG for years, and the recent topics tab on the homepage is my most-missed feature. I sure hope it will make a return.
I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the new site, but as someone who doesn't blog, tweet, post game collections, or edit wikis, I just want my recent-posts thing back! Maybe I'm alone (again, haven't visited in a while), but the reconfiguration of things has alienated me somewhat as a user. I don't want to put in effort to understand the new site; I just want my old, comfy CAG back!
Despite the whininess of this post, I mean all this as constructively as possible.
That does have some benefits but like you said it doesn't truly address what's been an unfixed problem for, what, months now? This is a games deal and discussion site and a summary of the most recent forum posts is far more useful on the front page than Twitter ramblings about Target clearance items, who's having what for lunch and whatnot. I completely agree with Lt. Dan about getting the recent topics back on the front page.Have you checked the "What's New" tab at the top of the page? Click on the "What's New" button up top and go to the bottom of the side bar where it says "Filter by Forum". Click on the forums you want to view and then choose the time period that you'd prefer. That should basically be what you're asking for unless I'm missing something.IT would be nice if you could view latest posts, and deselect forums (like the trading forum) That way you can get a good view of what is trending on the site, without all the stuff you arent interested in.
Cheapy - I would like to think that people "come for the deals, but stay for the community." Not sure if this is generally true or not, but it certainly is for me.John and I had a meeting about the front page. Its going to be re-done in a way to better present the deals from the forum.
This is me right here. I don't actually use the deals posted that often anymore, but the community (for the most part) is great and a lot of fun to chat with, which is definitely what keeps me coming back everyday (the deals are just the icing on the proverbial cake) ^_^Cheapy - I would like to think that people "come for the deals, but stay for the community."
