First post here, going to use it selfishly. Ive been doodling on photoshop trying to create some good custom art for an SE stick and this is what I have so far:
(warning, it is EXTREMELY large, so don't click if you have a slow connection)

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/domination/Art/fightstick.png

I post this here because I am having problems with some of the words i've used. Is there a better word I can use for the triple punch/kick buttons and/or any other text on the piece? any other feedback is also appreciated.
it's strangely inconsistent, usually its either jab, strong, fierce and ,short, forward, roundhouse or the generic light medium, hard.

I'm modding an American HRAP3 to be an SNK style stick. I've ordered clear Seimitsu buttons, cut plexi and the art. The stick will only have 4 action buttons. I don't want to cut the wires for the 4 remaining buttons in case I decide to restore it to 6 or 8 buttons later. What's the best way to protect and seal the contacts? I was thinking of going to the hardware store to see if there are any rubber caps that might fit snugly on the clips.

Here's the art:

Just a general questions, what are the average dimensions of a single box? looking at pictures of the norris box, it appears as though it is not more than 2.5 to 3 inches tall? I am guessing this based on looking at a picture from the side it appears as though it is approximately twice as tall as the button on the side. and maybe 12" wide and 14" long? I am planning my first fully custom stick. I am just wondering how tall of a box I need to be able to fit the sanwa stick and sanwa buttons, using the toodles PCB.......... I just dont want to make a box to small, in hopes of making it look good. or just make a box that is overly large :(..... I would wait for the buttons and sticks before building the box but im hoping to get an order in on lizard lick this coming week... thanx for letting me babble
cheers
One word of advice... the text is super generic... use this and look under the right category:

http://www.dafont.com/

here's some stuff that might look better:

http://www.dafont.com/deutsche-zierschrif.font

http://www.dafont.com/saraband.font

also for the red background I'd go for a more eroded old woody type of look... dirty polish or something... too clean IMHO.
Thanks guys (and everyone else), I really appreciate the input. If anyone is interested i'll probably have a more finished version in the next few days.

edit: oops, read that wrong. you can always just get some high quality electrical tape and wrap around it.

if i understand correctly he's not talking about the holes in the top panel but the wires that will be loose inside the case after he unplugs the buttons.
I think you'll be ok just taping them down somewhere inside where they don't touch each other as the inside is all plastic. i don't think you'll need to do anything like wrap the quick disconnects with tape just tape the wire down so the qds can't touch. not having adhesive all over them will make it easier if you ever decide to put the buttons back in.
Hey Rolento,

I finally got hold of a SFIV TE stick, I was using a Hori T5 with a Pelican adapter previously. You can have the Hori if you need it, I was orginally planning to mod it (butmyassistoolazytobuyasteeldrillbitathomedepot), it works ok stock. PM your address I'll have it shipped out tomorrow, girlfriend already asking why I need two sticks .
totally missed this post >_<

wow...

let me know if you still got it and how much u want it...

Finally got a TE stick. Got it off buy.com. Whoa, talk about a learning curve for a guy who never used a stick before. Well guess I'll be practicing every day.

BTW I never realized how much of a beast the stick was till I had it in my hands. Holy shoryukens!

I normally wouldn't just register to ask a question, but you guys seem to be very knowledgeable and I can't find an answer to my problem.

I have a SE and a TE stick. I went ahead and ordered a JLF stick and went to swap it out, followed directions perfectly, but when i went to use it, no direction worked. So in my infinite wisdom I went into my TE to see it it would work plugged into it. Using the TE's wiring harness, it would only go down, no other direction works. Now, I plug the wiring harness back into the stick in the TE and IT only works in the down direction and no others.

So I have two sticks, one of which worked perfectly(TE), and neither work properly. What did I do? How could this happen?

Any input would be appreciated

Yeah, tried that. I'm actually very tech savvy, and have tried so many things before posting. Since they come from the factory with glue to keep the plug tight, will the plug being a little looser do something?

It seems that sooo many people have made this mod that I can't imagine why this happened. It just doesn't make sense.

Happy... or not?

I practiced for a good 6 hours with my new TE stick but one of the buttons wasn't responding with Guile. Everything was set to default and working fine. I had to unplug the controller and plug it back and didn't have any issuesu for a few hours before I got tired and turned it off.

Hope this won't be a issue again. You guys ever have this happen to you?

IMHO... It's going to suck. It's the same tooling as the Exar Stick and Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick for the Nintendo Wii.

Unless they drastically change the internal design and add a metal base/more structure, I cannot see an improvement on design. If anything, it will be the same stick.

:(

If you had to pick an EXAR stick, I'd get the SNK Neo Geo one or the ROYDS. The one with artwork may look pretty, but that's all it is.

Yes but looking pretty seems to be what this gens sticks is all about. Look at what Hori has been doing. How many sticks so far have they come out with with no improvements just adding new art on it. Hell imo you guys have come out with the best stick since Nubys. Got tired of waiting to order new buttons for my HARP: EX that stripped and just ordered a SE the other day.

Since AkihabaraShop was open today i placed an order for some new goods for my 360 SE and TE Sticks.

Order 2739:
x1 Meshball Black
x8 OBSF-30 Black
x4 OBSF-30 Orange
x1 JLF-TP-8YT Orange

Not bad for 6,848¥ via Airmail, and my White & Dark Hai Meshballs are already en route from the pre-order.

Well, to Hori's credit, there is nothing wrong with their HRAP line.

But the Exar stick (Tatsunoko one) is very crappy. I would not recommend it to anyone. You can feel a world of difference quality wise between the Wii Hori stick and the Exar stick.

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm going to be using it as a replacement stick in the Donkey Kong I'm in the middle of restoring. I've found that original Nintendo sticks break quite easily (which is shocking given my experience with Nintendo-made products and their reputation) and the JLFs are pretty close in terms of feel, IMO.

I'll be using it in 4-way mode only (obviously) but I haven't decided whether to top or bottom mount it in the control panel (which is 9/16" thick). If I top mount it the stick may be a little high but I think I like this option best since the Nintendo sticks were always a little low for my tastes (in a DK, at least). Either way, once the stick arrives (and the button holders I also ordered) I can complete the control panel and start testing it!!

Ahh what the heck? pre-orders got chopped on the Hori Blazblue stick. :( Whoever ordered one, if you get it, you'll be among the lucky few gaijin. What's annoying to me is if you lived near a gameshop in Japan you could probably just walk in and get one without too much problem when it comes out.

Times like these, I wish I lived in Japan. :/

If it makes you feel any better Gunm Playasia canceled my Death Smiles preorder stick order I had with no reason behind it and of course the damn thing is going for 300+ on ebay. fuck that, 220 was pushing it, Im a fan but not that big of one.

Any word on if the ugly KOF stick and/or Blaz Blue stick are getting US releases? Might be worth while just to try one out and resell these days or maybe I'll just wait till the Tekken sticks are out. I'm sure they will release Tekken sticks anyways.

Doubt the Blaz Blue sticks are coming out here. The one for the 360 is not worth picking up since it is just a EX2 with a new face. I read on Dustloop or SRK ( can't remember which ) that something is being done to change the PS3 stick, but I would just take this as a web rumor. No idea on the KoF stick. Sure Mark will say if it is.

I want a NeoGeo stick so bad. I'm really excited for the SNK-style mod I'm doing on my HRAP3 but that NG stick is sooo sweet. I've been searching for a PS2 stick for use on my Wii and PS3 via adapters.

You should try to find one of the Tekken 5th Anniversary sticks for PS2 if you can. That has the best setup for the SNK layout IMO. They are pretty easy to mod if you have a dremel and can solder.

Of course. Who cares about PS3 sticks?

EDIT: In all seriousness, if the PS3 one was in stock, I'd get it.

$80 is more than I'm willing to spend on a 360 stick at the moment, any cheaper and I'd probably get it.

Sadly, you make a good point this time. It's ridiculously easy to make a stick for the PS3, lol. Still easier to just get an SE and mod it though.
Get an EX2.

EX2's MSRP is way too much for me, considering the quality of it.

Building one... eh, don't have a PCB to work on or soldering skills.
Yeah, best to pick up a EX2 from GS. Usually $39.99 if you can find one.
That's my kind of price, but I already searched every GS within driving distance a while back.

it was in and out of stock at amazon 5 times according to wiialerts.
Anyways, I did some more work on my soon-to-be SE art, but I'm still uncertain about the wording. Anyone who knows any cool(er) old english words please please please give me your input. Other comments are also greatly appreciated, but I probably wont do anything else to the main piece.

Once again, the file is extremely large, so slow internet users beware.

I may be getting a PS2 Neo Geo 2 stick. I know that Pelican and Inpin make the best PS2-to-PS3 but who makes the best PS2-to-Gamecube convertor? I have all of the NeoGeo collections for Wii and would love to play them properly.

Hey Guys,

I've got a Tournament Edition X360 Stick and a Cthulhu v1.1 Pre-assembled board (non-MC).

My goal is to get the extra PCB in and wired up. I don't care of there are two USB holes/wires in the back, I just really need to do this without soldering since I am really incredibly bad at it.

I've been looking for a guide to do this, or something similar (not too fancy) but I don't seem to be able to find one. Any direction on this? Thanks

Alternatively, I would be willing to pay someone to do the whole fancy 1 cable + selection switch. I live around Diamond Bar, CA and would be willing to drop it off & pay someone @ SoCal. Alternatively, I am going to be living in Playa Vista, CA for the summer if someone lives near there :D
