CAG Game Group: Halo 3 Tuesdays @ 9PM EST - add CAGHALO

I'll try to find some new customs for next week as if we get another turn out like this we can play most anything that works with a large group.

I do like trying out these new custom games since never had tried any since we started this. Though I think I wouldn't mind having some normal team slayer or objective matches as well :)

Some of us stayed playing till midnight EST. We tried quite a few strange one. I remember this fishbowl one...just driving vehicles into it and just flying all over the place.

We did do a Neutral Bomb in social big team...but we really got our asses handed to us. Then again we were all just fucking around. So it didn't matter.

I've heard that from a few of the guys there and had the same thought myself so we will definitely be playing some standard games next week. If I forget and am going crazy with weird customs somebody just say "Hey let's play a standard game wubb!"

It wasn't bad. It was weird as hell though. With the 16 people...that would have been too chaotic. I really had no idea what was going on as we were just being thrown against each other trying to kill each other by just splattering each other.

Sometimes I'd try to fall straight down the middle so I could just shoot people while there. I got to say, I always find the infection game on sandtrap one of the most fun custom games. Some reason I just enjoy being a zombie and running fast as hell trying to infect others.

Oh and that tunnel capture the flag match...seems like would have been a lot of fun. Guess we might have had too many for that, but definitely seemed interested. I think I need to play some more on my own time and remember the controllers better. The custom game where it is like a version of bumper cars...well I just keep committing suicide too many times from forgetting to drive. I swear I kept trying to press Y to board or get off a vehicle >.>
Fun matches last night guys and awesome turnout maxed out at 16 :applause:...what else did you guys play after I left?
Replayed The Vent and Monster Trucks. Definitely works much better with a smaller amount of people as opposed to 10+.

Also played CastleWars (Foundry) with Swords & Arrows (Snipers). It's an ok team deathmatch map/ruleset. Don't think it would work well with a large amount of people (more than 10) either.

Fishbowl is ok. It's more of an amusing passtime than a real game.

I'll probably search around for various maps using basic gametypes that'll be a nice change of pace from the standard maps we have.

Here's a list of the people in one of the middle games from my list last night:
Maklershed
Magic778
LinkinPrime
ApertureCake
aznplaya4lif3
ColHotShotX
Wanna Cheese
Wowous
Dastly
InuFaye
Crimson Darke
wubb
Cantaloup
WinnemuccaRyles
Draekon
BK4L

Big thanks to everyone who came out and especially ColHotShotX and Dastly for stepping up and loading a few custom games for us to try.

Some highlights:

1) Me starting a custom 'dodgeball' game and immediately ending it when I realized I hadn't explained WTF was going on with that game type properly. :D (We hopped back in and played one afterwards.)

2) Me constantly saying "You have to push to talk in case anyone is wondering. Push the d-pad to talk." every match. Just in case somebody had joined and didn't know.

3) Ryles walking away from his 360 for quite a while and eventually becoming the alpha zombie in a game of infection. (Sorry we had to boot ya man!)

4) 8v8 grifball!

Like I mentioned just above I'll plan to play some standard games next week along with some customs. Maybe a bit of Team SWAT.

Custom maps we can play standard game types on sound like a great idea.

I think a key with a custom map/gametype we play in these sessions is that it has to be something that can be grasped and picked up pretty quickly as we are probably going to play a map/gametype once and then move on.

Dwolfe - I had the same thought on the Tunnel CTF. I would be a cool map for a 3v3 or even 2v2 CTF. But with 16 it was just silly. In fact I would love to see how that plays with 2v2. You'd have the one guy with the flag and the other covering his ass as he runs down the tunnel. It might not work with 2v2 but I'd like to try it.

Did you start out of the hill like every time or something? Every time I looked at the score board you were always losing points constantly.

Even if i was losing points every time, it wouldnt matter, i was not enjoying it, and that was besides the horrible lag i was encountering.

i lost major points one round because i didnt want to jump out of my warhog off the side of the platform since i was stuck, but i was still outside of the hill. Again, beside the point.

Well I can't say we won't do any silly customs (we probably will) but I'll definitely try to mix standard stuff in as well.

I am really only down for more straight forward slayer/objective gametypes. I have no problem with true original "silly custom" games, but i just don't get much of them because i hardly find them competitive.

I have played Grifball and do enjoy that.

Wubb, I have a few custom maps in my fileshare. Most of them seem to support basic CTF and Slayer gametypes and one or two support zombie. I think they're located like 14-22 on my fileshare if you want to download and try them.

Unfortunetly most are small to medium size maps, but a couple could be turned into multi-team (like 3 or 4 teams) slayer maps or something like oddball or king of the hill maybe.

I'll try to give them a look but we can also just pop whatever one on you think would work.

I should be on at 9PM EST tonight unless something unforeseen comes up. Hope to see a good crowd again. :D

Well, seeing as last time it went to almost midnight I might be joining you guys late (if I get on...though I should be). I more than likely will be on, but won't join you guys till later if that's ok.

1 hour until game time. I'll be SPAMming invites once again. :D

My router was flaking out on me a bit ago but it seems to be back around now. *knock on wood*

Though I will be on, remember, I'll be joining more than likely a bit after you guys have been on. I just rather say that cause I feel bad when people send me an invite and I don't go play lol

Thanks to everyone who came out for week #2. We did all standard game types last night which this time was too far the other direction.

I may try to work out a tentative schedule for the first 4 or 5 matches for next week w/ a mix of a few customs and a few standard matches to keep me on track but I can't promise I'll be motivated enough to do it. It's also a little hard to do that when there is no way to know how many will show up.
I had fun with you guys last night, first time in a while I haven't heard that I sucked!
when was this
JohnQuincyAdams is a god with the spartan laser! He killed me so many times with it.
haha! I forget if you had played with us, but 4-5 of us were playing DLC objective and first thing during the Avalance level someone said "Get John the Spartan Laser" lol!

I've been contacted about having a UK Halo 3 game night so that might be coming down the pike here. I believe the UK is 5 hours off EST so it would probably be 4/5PM EST -> 9/10PM UK Time.

May just use CAGHALO for that as well unless there is a desire to setup a seperate ID.

Anyway I wouldn't be able to commit to that one so it'll most likely be somebody else setting up the party and sending out the invites if this does come about.

Now if only you knew where the Spartan Laser spawned :p

I feel people wouldn't complain so much about Avalanche being too big if they knew how to utilize the man cannons, teleporters, and caves the way they were designed to be used.

UK?

UK CAG members asking for this?

Well avalanche is pretty large considering it's never going to come up on the Big Team lists until after the new maps are made free.

Well one asked for it anyway. :D
