CAG Game Group: Halo 3 Tuesdays @ 9PM EST - add CAGHALO

So you were AFC...I heard someone say that you were but I could have sworn I assassinated you while you were carrying the bomb close to 7pm PT/10pm ET
 
I did hop back in briefly, killed somebody carrying the bomb and ran it back towards my base before somebody took me out.

What happened with the party falling apart?

They were 5 or 6 of the party so really just them leaving would have cut it in half.

I'm thinking no Monster Truck next week. It's a good mode but we've done it nearly every week and 10 rounds is just too long. (Or I guess we could bump it down to 3-5 rounds.)

Also somebody find a grifball map that works for 12-16 people and I'd be more than happy to play it. The existing map is broken with that many.

I have the Spring League Map which is setup for 8v8 named "GBSL08 Large". However the Summer League Map is out now and I'll go ahead and make edits to it and throw it up on my fileshare. It will be named "GBSML08 Large" if it lets me and should be in one of the first 12 slots on my fileshare in a few hours.

EDIT: It's in slot 6 of my fileshare (with 5 being the official 4v4 Summer League Map). Unfortunetly there are no Summer League ruleset for it yet so you'll have to use the Spring League which is located in slot 4 of my fileshare.

Wouldn't it be easy to create one in forge? I never fooled around with forge myself.

Grabbed it along with the current regular map and Spring ruleset.

I also went through and deleted a dozen+ things I'll probably never use as it keeps warning me I'm getting close to the 100 downloaded item limit.

Is there a place on Bungie that you can download the gametypes that come up on the various MM lists (w/o having to randomly get them in matchmaking) For example I'd like to grab SWAT CTF or whatever the CTF variant that comes up on Team SWAT now but I can't find it on bungie.net I'd rather not have to play a ton of Team SWAT matches hoping it finally appears and isn't vetoed.

It would be easiest just to edit the ruleset and then edit the map weapon spawns if needed.
 
I think a game variant where everyone has rockets and there is a mongoose in the middle of the map that the teams try to push into a scoring zone at the other team's side of the map (using only rockets) would be pretty cool.

But I don't think there's any way to do that outside of making somebody an invincible VIP and then having them jump on the mongoose before everyone starts. Too contrived plus the VIP would be bored to tears. And even then it might not really work.

If you could make a mongoose the 'ball' in oddball instead of the standard skull, then it'd probably work. Oh well. :whee:
 
I got the SWAT 2 Flag Game Varient from the official hopper and it's up on my fileshare under the Grifball game varient. Also there's a new Grifball game varient out now too which is up in my fileshare where the Spring League one was if you want that.

One thing about the SWAT 2 Flag varient is that you'll still get equipment on maps (Weapons are gone with BR/Pistol start). It really doesn't matter outside of invisibility. However if you disable it you're unable to pickup grenades from corpses or dual wield a pistol without removing equipment from all the maps.
 
Okay I should be on tonight at 9PM EST to once again SPAM everyone with invites.

I have a feeling it might be a low turn out, but if so we'll just throw in some match making.

The CAG Grifball teams needs some practice, so there's hopefully 3-4 extra players right there.

How long do these run wubb? I'd like to frag with some CAGs, but you're competing for the same time slot as Hell's Kitchen (the other half would be upset).
 
I almost always sign off right at 10:30 if not a bit before and they run for a random time after that. Basically I flip party leader to whoever is annoying the most people (So far that's been hotshot every time he's been there... ;) ) and then get the heck out of dodge.

So if you jump on right after HK you should be able to catch us. But we also have been close to maxing at 16 people some weeks.

(P.S. get a DVR. :nottalking: )
 
I have one, but she would get upset if we didn't see it right away. And the "But honey, my imaginary internet nerd-friends need my virtual help!" routine doesn't always fly...
 
I'm interested in joining up tonight. I haven't really played Halo since COD4 came out, but I'd like to switch it up a bit. I'll send a FR to the CAGHALO tag. Hopefully its updated more often than the CAGCOD4 list that hasn't been touched in over a month... if not hopefully someone will see my post here.
 
Both you guys joined us last night so looks like that worked out. :D

We maxed at 14 I believe.

Typically the party will be formed by myself and the invite will come from 'wubb'

I have this cool Zombie map on Blackout. Once this current map pack becomes free maybe I can showcase it.

That was some fun last night. I did surprisingly well for someone who hasn't played Halo 3 since April.
 
I think that was the first time I'd played Halo 3 since late last year. It was fun but I had no clue what most of the game types were. On Fat Kid, I have no idea whats going on and everyone is saying "I hope I'm not the fat kid", game starts and first thing I see is You are Infected.
 
Here's a tip for anyone that might end up running this night if I'm absent in the future.

If you pick a game type and only 3 or 4 people groan about it then you know it's a winner and time to start the match. :D
 
I only hopped on the double XP weekend for a match or two but 3-ball was pretty interesting. If we end up with a good number for a 3 or 4 way match I think we should give 3-Low a shot. (4 teams - 3 skulls - score is equal to the low man on your team.)
 
Very cool. I have no way to export clips from Halo 3 and get them on youtube.

I love the one in the middle where I swing my sword too early at you and miss but then we get turned around and are back to back for a bit until I finally manage to swipe you just before Crimson Darke cleans up and finishes me off. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. :D

We had a smaller than normal group last night with only 4 of us until the grifballers came in at around 10:00. So we ended up doing mostly match making until then.

My 360 died and I'll most likely be sending it to MS for repair this week. So I'm probably out the next 3-4 Tuesdays.

Anybody else want to step up to creating the party and sending out the invites?
 
I say you give it to whoever constantly shows up the most and they can then invite people through the tag.
Wubb, could you add me as a friend to CAGHALO so I can show up on the list? I think you still can through xbox.com even though your system died.

I've been adding them through xbox.com actually so no worries there. I usually do it just once a week on Tuesdays (but I usually check once in the afternoon and again just before 9PM.)

To run the group you basically just need a strong enough personality to pick a gametype and map and start the match despite some bitching and complaining here and there. But you also have to take into account the bitching and complaining and keep as many people happy as you can. :shrug: Also helps to check bungie.net for a promising gametype or two to plan to check out each Tuesday. But frankly I only bother with that once in a while.

I guess I'll PM some people about it tomorrow.
 
ColHotShotX (HotShot on the CAG forums) has agreed to take over for me until I get my 360 back. :bow:

If you can't start at 9PM EST just post here when things will be kicking off.

So that means the invite will be coming from ColHotShotX as opposed to wubb for a few weeks.

Kidding, wubb's gonna set me up with a couple of maps and gametypes, and we'll run through them pretty smoothly.

I'll invite the entire CAG HALO friend list at 9pm, again at 9:15, and one last time at 9:30, and will entertain invite requests at any other time. The CAG Grifball team will need to leave for practice around 10pm EST, and I'll pass off host to whoever wants it at that point.

Looking forward to taking over for wubb temporarily, I'll do my best to hold the weekly halo night up to the high standards wubb always has, but slightly more erotic.

I guess i'll stay from 9 to 10 (gotta get up early tmrw) this will be my first CAG halo session with halo 3...i was in the halo 2 clan and that was the best online experience i've had besides being in the Unreal tournament 2k4 clan on the PC
 
Those games were a lot of fun tonight :D Question though. Where can I download the Vent map along with the gamemode for that? Also, where can I get the Pirate Squirrel gamemode? Those were a blast and I'd love to download them for my own private games.

You can nab them from their recent games list possibly. I might put up pirate squirrel/the seven squirrels in my fileshare at some point in the future.

Also I might volunteer to host next week's CAG Halo night(if I can get my work done). At least for when Hotshot and his groupies take off to do grifball.

Glad it went off without me last night! Thanks for pulling up my slack HotShot. :D

Just as an aside these nights are usually custom games within our group so it doesn't really matter if you are a Halo nub or a Halo god there'll be a spot for you.

And if you want in send an friend request to CAGHALO.

No problem, sorry it was a bit bumpy at first but I'm definitely glad the Robert Neville / I Am Legend maps went really well with the group. That one will definitely be included again next week.

In the meantime, I'll keep searching for good maps, and delete the old crappy ones.
