Hey guys. Just got back so I'm starting up the game a few minutes late. Also I forgot I need to charge my headset so I'll be mute for the first couple games.

Only saw a couple people on so I'm going to cancel for now. This was pretty short notice for a game anyway. GTA night will return next Sunday!
 
I was on, but ended up playing in free mode after the GTA night was cancelled due to a lack of people. I ended up encountering yet another idiot in free mode who thinks it's like an unorganized deathmatch. They chased me in an Annihilator for over an hour before I was able to give them a taste of their own medicine. :D

I really SHOULD start playing Mercenaries 2, though once I get started in free mode on GTAIV, I can't seem to stop playing.:whistle2:#
 
The first time I went into free mode no one could shoot anybody.
But if I can shoot someone I sure as hell am going to do it.
Preferably after I run them over with an ambulance.

:lol: Well, if you do that to me in a free mode game, be prepared to eat an Annihilator as it lands on you. I just still don't get why people have to play free mode like death match, when they get nothing from shooting the other people, aside from practice for real death match mode games.

I'm still trying to figure out where someone found a normal helicopter in free mode though, since I only know where to find Annihilators.

Either way, I noticed a glaring error on Rockstar's part having to deal with free mode. If you set up a custom match with only a certain type of weapon and there's not supposed to be RPG's in it, steal an Annihilator and you'll have 6-8 RPG's in no time, since you get 6 automatically when you get into them.

By 'returning', I hope you guys mean that it's going to be more than 1-3 people showing up. It was kinda disappointing to show up last Sunday, only to find out that it's been cancelled due to poor turnout.

I may actually go grab a headset from Blockbuster(if they sell them, that is) to kill some of my credit with them later today, though I don't see me really using it for more than 5 minutes. If anything, I'll probably set it up so I can hear other people talking, but my set will be muted.
 
Not sure if there's a Fry's near your witness protection program housing, but they usually have pretty good prices on headsets if you're looking for a decent Bluetooth.
 
Unfortunately, I'm in PA so I don't think we have any of those stores around here. Thing is though, I'm cheaper than most of you, so $40 or so for something I'd probably rarely use otherwise is a bit too much for my liking.

I was actually looking into one of those old SOCOM headsets that came with the PS2 version for a while, but Gamestop wants like $15 for them and there's no telling what the people before me did to them.:whistle2:# If I remember correctly, the last non Supercenter Wally World around here had 1-2 of the PS2 USB headsets that were sold seperately on clearance for $10-15 a while back. I'll have to check them out this weekend.

Either that or find this ancient copy of one of those 'talk to type' programs that I bought a long time ago and see if it still has the headset with it.
 
I'm still debating if I wanna try and find some cheapo USB headset before then, but I'm leaning heavily towards NO. I look forward to playing with you all again though, since I only made it to ONE GTA night so far. :bomb:
 
I hope we can get a good game tonight. I am thinking of buying socom, keeping the headset, and then selling the game immediately. The socom headset is much better than anything out right now, just wait.
 
I'm definitely not all about paying $40-50 for a headset, so I ended up going all over my area today looking for a USB headset. I found that most places wanted $20-40 for a simple USB set, so I ended up in friggin' Gamestop and picked up a Logitech USB set for $15.89 after taxes, used.

It's better than nothing and now I can hear mguiddy screaming at me, asking me where the f I'm going when we're playing Cops N Crooks. :razz:

I'm gonna try it out in a bit in free mode and then watch some tv till later tonight.

The next round made me flash back to that disaster a few weeks ago. I hopped in a car as soon as I could and saw DD run across the field all by himself and take out one... two... all three of the crooks team! Almost brought a tear to my eye. :cry:

I made sure to bring the car to a complete stop by the helicopter this time, DD! :lol:

p.s. fuck Rockstar and its multiplayer code.

9/6 is the official time. It started off kind of slow, then I ended up having to restart the game a couple times because of stupid bugs. We ended up with a decent enough turnout for a few cops & crooks games.

Also, I really can't wait until the mic thing is fixed. It seems to cut out after almost exactly an hour no matter what I try. Once they fix it I'll run a celebratory GTA night until everyone's eyes dry out. I don't think I've ever made it to the Cannonball Run with mics working. :bomb:
 
Why the hell do the mics cut out after a bit? It's annoying, especially since I just got the f'n thing working on my PS3. I'm still not a conversationalist by any means and I think I kept it on mute most of the night. Plus, I think I kept the voice changer on -5. :D

I had invites coming to me left n right from many people I've played GTA with online and after the slow start, I was kinda tempted to abandon ship and go to another multiplayer game. :whistle2:#

I was kind of surprised when I won the race, though I kept fuckin up by the end of it that it was almost a photo finish.

If your talking about that little blue excuse for a ramp I think that ChizelMonkee and I were the crooks. I was looking back and asking if the cops made the jump. We were taking it easy. We thought there was no way they could have made it. I guess they did because the next second we were dead.

That cops and crooks with ChizelMonkee me and DD83 was awful. I had no idea who was the boss. me and ChizelMonkee were asking who was the boss. We just got into a car and drove torwards the checkpoint. thinking that he would meetup with us. But he didnt...

The one XXX is talking about was the last C&C game (I think) he and I were cops, along with two other people, but they weren't in the car with us, it was one of those super sporty cars, a two seater... and we were chasing the crooks to the "oil refinery?" whatever that is with all the big silos. I missed the exit on the highway I needed, but figured, MAYBE I'd be able to make the car go over the barriers on the side when I saw that the barrier was broken and had a makeshift ramp. I hit the ramp going sideways, rolled the car a few times in mid air, landed on a silo, flew off the silo and landed on the ground... it was amazing.

I don't think I was ever the boss Sunday... I'm glad... I don't like being the boss.

Oh man, there were two crazy C&C jumps?? It sounds like I'm thinking of the same one as yohsh, which was earlier on and the crooks made it first. I was one of the cops (not driving) and we were still in the police cruiser. If that was DD both times, I think he should be the new dedicated stunt driver. :applause:

One was you and me jumping across the river, the other was XXX and me jumping off the highway.

I'd say the jump with you was better since we got the crooks, but the jump with XXX was more flashy.

Some dude I swear I have never even played against sent me a long ass message wanting me to be a member of his crew. He said he has seen me around ripping shit up. I've only been playing this online for a little over 3 or 4 weeks and this is the second invite I have got like this. I usually get 2-3 friend requests per day when I play this, mostly from turds. Anybody ever here of any gta crews?

I think we should have a roll call right now for people that are going to make it on sunday. Hopefully we can coordinate it right and get 15 people together
 
I've received friend requests from a number of people, though it's mainly from CAGs.

Hell, I didn't even realize that I was normally playing against mguiddy due to their PSN being DD83. I probably played against 'em in many deathmatch games and never really realized it.

What I still can't stand though, are all of the assclowns who will chase you mercilessly in free mode when you're just trying to kick back and cruise around and maybe explore a bunch.
 
I'd like to get a more up-to-date list of who's playing as well, so I know who to send PSN spam reminders to. (And you can always opt out of those if they're annoying. If I won't be around to host, I'll mention it here ahead of time.)
