CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]
I'd be up for trying AWP, but freaky and I tried to do some DM boosting (I timed it and it took ~15 minutes for one of us to hit $10k, so we could do $20k an hour each doing that), however... it wouldn't save our money.

Does anyone know what's up with ranked/unranked on the PS3? I did some searching and it seems on the 360 it's clearly marked in the multiplayer menu on the phone, but the PS3 doesn't have that. Then I read some people say if there's friend slots it isn't ranked and other people say all PS3 is ranked.

Also, It's odd that when I play during CAG nights, my rank is usually always 4 (and it seems to saves any progress) any other time I play my rank is 2 and never saves progress.
How do you exit out of your game(s) when you're done playing for the night, since I always thought that the HDD activity just prior to quitting the game was the game saving rank and everything.

This is why I have taken on the stance of 'I really don't give a shit what rank I'm on or how much money I have in a game'. Then again, much like trophies, I don't think I EVER really gave a shit what level I'm at.

I just get a kick out of people kicking me because I 'cheat' and 'play cheap' by being in a car 90-95% of the time for Team Deathmatch and running their asses over.....or the occasional random kamikaze helicopter out of nowhere routine.:D

How am I supposed to exit GTAIV... I think I've pretty much always just hit "Quit Game" from the XMB.

Still... I've always done this and somehow I managed to rank up.

My eject button stopped working, so I use a pair of pliers to pull the disc out of the slot. The needle-nose type tends to work the best:

Make sure to wrap some tissue or something around the tips though so you don't scratch the blu-ray.

The PS3 usually ends up shutting off in the process so it's actually pretty convenient.

ahahaha post of the year

LOL. Btw, maybe this has been mentioned earlier.

I get this friendslist bug/glitch/problem. I add friends and they appear on the PSN/XMB friends list. However, I cannot invite them to GTAIV games because their names don't appear on the in game GTAIV invite list.

Anyone else experience this? If so, any solutions? I already tried resetting the PS3, but no go. My friend however did remove me off his list and then added me to the list and it worked for him, however he was still absent from my list.

Rockstar seems to have issues allowing for the full PSN friend list to be available in their games (like MCLA only showing 20).
GTAIV will only show the first 50 friends.

At least this limit makes sense since when it was released there was a limit of 50 PSN friends... I've no freaking clue where the 20 in MCLA came from.
Anyone up for some sunday night trophy stuff? Let me know if you are, cause I'd be down. PSN kube00
What time? Freaky and I would probably be down.

Ah thanks for that information. I am afterall a fairly new ps3 user, so I had no idea about the friend limit. I already added many friends, maybe I should filter out some people on my list.

LOL, was this just this one time, or it really has completely stopped working?

If you guys are playing tonight, message me on PSN and I'll be there. ;)

I've ended up filtering out numerous people who I added after playing against them in some Team Deathmatch or other mode on GTA IV.

I usually wait and if they aren't on for a week or two, they get dumped off the list. Plus, I also RARELY approve friend requests unless they say WHERE they saw or talked to me from. Even CAG friend requests, I'll usually wait until I verify where they're from and what not.

I have maybe 15 friends on PSN, with about 15-20 who I've deleted since they fell out of contact and/or we stopped playing against one another.

Huh, I didn't realize the in-game list was limited to 50. Time to do some list pruning. The only list-related bug I've run into was that a couple times when I added someone during the game, they wouldn't show up on the in-game list.

And wow, if you really need to do AWP all in one session, I'm out.

60% of the time, it works every time! ;)

I don't know if you HAVE to do AWP in one sitting (I may be wrong, since I haven't researched it much), but I think most people do since the servers don't always save wins and it can be hard to figure out what modes you won, but wasn't saved.

Oh boy... The players VS Rockstar's servers.

The PS forum post is sort of ambiguous over whether it really needs to be one sitting. They do mention checking the leaderboards for previous wins before you get started, but then the OP ends with:

Take-Two has finally confessed to the fact that with the current patch, the only way to get this trophy is to do all the requirements in "one sitting,"

...and that sounds pretty definitive, so I dunno what to think. If anyone's gotten the Midnight Club trophy over multiple sessions, that might mean you can do AWP the same way.

I didn't see that in the OP (I told you I hadn't researched it much).

Wow... just wow...
I would do it in one sitting... If I were desperate. which I'm not at the moment, since I'm not close to getting this platinum anytime soon. :(
Would you do it in one sitting... four times?
How do you do one sitting, four times?

Well, in order for you to get the trophy, you and three others (to be able to do all the game modes) will have to do a ~9 hour marathon. But that's only for YOU to get the trophy. I don't know about anyone else, but if I were to do a ~9 hour marathon to help you to get the trophy, you better help me get the trophy too.

So really, unless you get people who already have the trophy to help, the AWP trophy takes longer than the single player mode... :censored:

You only have to have the 3rd and 4th players jump in for the C&C games, right? I'm sort of disappointed that you can't have a 1v1 C&C, actually.

The longest I ever played a game straight was about seven hours, and I can't imagine topping that just for some trophy. I'd sooner do the Endless Setlist in RB2. :)

I want to cry... :'(

I would only do it when I really don't have anything planned for a weekend. I would have to take an hour break from playing this 9+ hour marathon as well (without going offline, of course).
OMG, getting this platinum will suck harder than my vacuum cleaner from Sears. >_

when are you going to play some more tdm games cheapestgamer
I love pistoling Jtarrone as I run him over while honking

I think the only 2 player modes are the CoOps, DM, and the Races. The races is probably the biggest time sink (since you have to do ALL variations of every race), so that may work. I'd read up on it in the playstation.com forums first, to see if doing that would work, or if it could possibly mess some things up.

You're going to be waiting a WHILE then, since Lude told me JT's 60 gb PS3 is completely fucked. It wouldn't even turn on for him. Lude had disc reading problems on his 60 gb and took it apart himself to clean it. As for Grittz who we also play against, I think he's just been uber busy since the Christmas holidays.

Either way, I'm really leaning towards playing through my copy of Rise Of The Argonauts my gf got me for Christmas, blowing through the rest of Uncharted and the other PS3 games I have in my backlog, then selling this thing since I'm not using it very much anymore.

Then again, I know I'd be bored and wanting to play an occasional game. Plus, I know I'd get jack shit for it.

I definitely won't be able to play this Wednesday night.

I've got an in-store with The Academy Is (I know you're all jealous!) in Wilkes-Barre, PA so I'll be pretty far from home.

fucking weak.

I enjoy playing Race/Cops N' Crooks/Free Roam. I just can't stand Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch/Turf War, so don't be surprised to see me leave if ya'll playing any one of those.

We usually do a few DM/TMDs but they're usually with some weird options like rockets or projectiles only to keep it interesting. The first round is a regular DM as everyone is joining.

And yeah, let's do some C&C! Man, it's been a while.

I'll finally be able to get in on a game again... WOO HOO!
I hope we have a decent turn out so I can kill 5 opposing team members.

Well, I wanted to try and join y'all tonight but for some reason I kept getting a "cannot connect to game provider" error. Weird.

I could multiplay with other games so dunno wtf was going on.

Fun times. Haven't had a good Cops & Crooks marathon session for a while. Those starting positions could be a little more random, though.
no more cops and crooks......
The C&C you left was the last we did.

And thanks for letting me win that Cannonball Run metaly! :D

Yeah... Like not right on top of us! (what was it called in old FPSs when you'd spawn on top of a player and instantly kill them? Spawn Killing... gibbing... something like that.)

Any time. :cool::whistle2:\"

Also... telefragged!
Any time. :cool::whistle2:\"

YES!!!
 Also... I used to like using the translocator in the original UT to try to get telefrags. :D Man that game was good...

Man... I think I only got maybe one or two of those in my whole UT career, even though as soon as I learned you could do that I would try to get them obsessively. I also started dying a lot more trying to set them up, but it was so worth it.
What was the highest attendance you've had? Cops N' Crooks marathon was great, the other team kept getting unlucky starting positions on half of them.
Highest I remember is 8-10.

I think around Halloween we had 12 people and did a legendary 3v3v3v3 DM. Usually it's more like 6-8. Maybe I should start sending reminders again.
