CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]
I'm done. Sorry for the connection wonky-ness. Not sure what's going on but it doesn't seem like it wants me to play with you guys tonight.
What are you doing here, shouldn't you be stuck in your car still?
What are you doing here, shouldn't you be stuck in your car still?

And before I forget, the context-free quote of the night, courtesy of xxx: "Let me get a look at his penis and I'll tell you."

Ha! I would be if you hadn't so gallantly rescued me. :applause:
x3x1x, you're my fucking hero!

I don't think I heard that.
Well then, no context for you!
Sure, punish me because it was probably one of the times you guys died early in the game.

Actually, I think that was the round where xxx and I made it to the boat and ended up waiting like 20 minutes for Obscur to figure out where we were going... That was a pretty goofy round in general.

I was on the other team then. Got blasted by a rocket going down where what's his face lives. I swear Obscur was waiting for the rocket launcher to respawn since he sat there for most of the round. I remember thinking "DAMN JUST LEAVE ALREADY!"

For the record, during the one C&C game when I had a cop right on my ass, I did pull a suicide move into the gas tank at the station on the main drag in Dukes/Broker.

By the way, that C&C where xxx and metaly made it to the boat and had to wait for Obscur reminded me alot of my looooooong swim all the way around Liberty City to get to the getaway vehicle in the one C&C game months ago.

Any of you guys recommend your specific mics?

bornrunnin, I read that you were experiencing a lot of GTAIV feedback...

I am thinking about just getting the standard OFFICIAL PS3 Sony bluetooth head set. Seems the only real downside is the comfort factor.

I am kind of turned off with how there are 100s of sets that could be used for this.

Honestly, I'd just go with the SOCOM one you can get from Gamestop for $10 used, unless you sit about 100 feet from your PS3. It comes with a pretty long wire to it, so you should be able to use it from a good distance. Of course, I have my PS3 right next to my bed in my room, so I have plenty of wire left.

If you could find one of the Warhawk sets at Sears for $10, it comes with a Jabra 215 Bluetooth headset included, as well as a charging cable.

Other than that, the Logitech one I mentioned is probably the best wired option, though it doesn't have a mute button or volume control like the SOCOM one does.

The Logitech one is a good one. Only problem is that my head is kinda big, so it doesn't fit real well and it gets a bit uncomfortable where the ear piece is because I wear glasses. But hey, if you have a normal sized head, you should be good to go and it's only $10 used. And it has a mute button which is a big plus. Most of the bluetooth sets except for the Sony branded one for the PS3 don't.

And sorry to my team for the C&C round where I just drove the car into the water. I thought that ramp did something. :(

I like the "standard" Logitech headset, even if it doesn't have a mute button. I ordered a USB extension cord from Microcenter so I could wear it from the couch and I think it's superior to any of the BT headsets that I've tried.

I have the Sony Bluetooth headset but I don't really use it. When I first got it, it never seemed like it was loud enough. It also makes my piercings hurt like mad. No matter while ear I put it in it always seems to be pushing up against something tender.

That's obviously not Sony's problem, though. ;)

Yeah it is... they're obviously discriminating against those with piercings... I say you send a letter to the Consumerist and file a lawsuit.

Sony hates trendy self-mutilators. I'm going to picket just as soon as I stop bleeding from the head.

Why wait? The blood will add to the protest.
www.gamedealdaily.com has Saint's Row 2 (new) for ~$35 shipped today. I know a few of you had expressed interest in picking it up.
Man, why couldn't you link that 2 weeks ago!!! I've rented the game twice and probably won't buy it now since I hope to beat it in the next 3-5 days. : |

It's only good today. I could have posted it 2 weeks ago but that would have been a lie. ;)

Dude you rented that twice?? You should have picked up Left 4 Dead because apparently USPS hates me.

disregard ehehe!!

And yeah, that's the plan, Randy. Let's figure out some time to play.
Are you getting some folks together for L4D? I'd like to play, if so!
We can play tonight if you're free. I'll be available.

I might be interested in it, but I haven't put what little money I've been making into my account, so I don't have enough, unless they take MO's or straight up CASH.

Mind you, $35 is still too expensive for my liking, let me know when it hits $15.

If anyone wants to play a little GTA IV on a night besides the usual CAG night on Weds, let me know if you see me on, since I'm almost always playing that anymore.

Cool! If UT3 night loses steam early I'll fire up the Xbox.
Wait, L4D is on the PS3?
take it to the xbot forum, bitches

I don't want to play L4D with those people...I wanna play with my PS3 buddies!

I agree... Only cause right now I'm too poor to buy it.

Remember, tomorrow is GTA night!!!!!!!!! god how is it only tuesday

Sort of related: Is anyone getting Chinatown Wars? I haven't been following it but all the reviews are saying it's FUN in the sense that the pre-GTA4 games were FUN. (Note: I like GTA4.) I also keep reading stuff that makes me think they put all or at least most of the map from GTA4 into the game, although with the detail scaled down of course.

Picking up my copy of Chinatown Wars this afternoon...and I just read that it has online multiplayer! The reviews have been crazy good and, yeah, I've heard that they resurrected some of the "classic" GTA elements like Rampages. Should be awesome.

5/5 (PERFECT SCORE) - GAMEPRO, EDITORS' CHOICE "A FANTASTIC ADDITION TO ROCKSTAR'S LEGACY... ...maintains the incredible innovations in both technology and player accessibility that the title's previous installments have supplied... From drug distribution, insurance racketeering to old fashioned car-jacking and street races, everything you know and love about the Grand Theft Auto series is here with some fantastic new contributions and handheld-specific alterations... This is Grand Theft Auto the way you love it: all of the innovation, charm and thrills from its past installations neatly tied together in a creative package worthy of any DS owner."

10/10 (PERFECT SCORE) - EUROGAMER "This is GTA on a smaller screen, but by no means a smaller scale... massive, diverse playgrounds, teeming with cars, pedestrians, the series' trademark missions and side-games, wonderfully rendered in surprising detail by an engine that ranks among the best on the platform.
...CHINATOWN WARS IS A TRIUMPH, not just in terms of bringing a difficult game to a new platform intact, but because it actually improves it in the process, and demonstrates a mastery of DS form and function... Overall this is GTA as it first was, with the inherited wisdom of GTA as it's been since, finished off with all sorts of things that would happily belong in a GTA of the future."

9.5 - IGN, EDITORS' CHOICE "A spectacular DS-exclusive experience that expands on what already makes the GTA series so damn good... one of the deepest and extremely fulfilling chapters in the Grand Theft Auto saga... it's a tremendous game, both in scale and in fun...
CHINATOWN WARS IS EASILY ONE OF THE BEST
NINTENDO DS GAMES ON THE PLATFORM."

A - UGO "...easily one of the best games on the DS... It's hard to deny the depth and scope that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has achieved. The massive single-player game, impressive 3D graphics, strong multiplayer features, amusing minigames and intriguing story make it ONE OF THE BEST DS GAMES WE'VE EVER PLAYED."

94/100
(highest rating ever for a third-party game in the magazine's history)
OFFICIAL NINTENDO MAGAZINE
"The DS can now boast a GTA title that's every bit as compelling, impressive and fun to play as its home console cousin. If not more so... You still get the very real sense of being in a living, breathing Liberty City... THE BEST GAME ON DS SO FAR?
IT'S CERTAINLY A CONTENDER...
The scale and diversty of Liberty City is as impressive as in any other game in the series... a technical marvel."

So Chinatown Wars uses the same layout as GTAIV?

Crazy...guess I will have to toss this onto the Goozex pile.

Should be around tonight, if I'm fighting in the streets just send me a message to remind me to pop in GTAIV. :)

Please throw me an invite, I'd love to play tonight. I've been playing "house" all day and the trophies aren't that rewarding imho.

Who needs planned rampages when you can just go into Free Mode and annihilate peds and cops until your blood lust is satiated? Mind you, it'd be nice if you did score some cash for the kills in free mode, but that's just my mode to practice my 360* vehicular drive-by.

I'm still contemplating switching my PS3 downstairs(so I can hook it up to a wired connection) and hooking my XBox back up in my room(so I can play the original Mercenaries and some of the other Xbox games I never completed). Plus, I want to find a better spot for the SNES I just picked up a week or two ago.

Yeah, good point...hmmm. Not sure if I am going to try and make mine wired for tonight or not. Yeah Xbox mercs was pretty good.

That's why I rebought the original, since the sequel has been a varitable cornucopia of difficulties, ranging from far too easy to fuckin' ridiculous.

There's also all of the glitches with it that I've encountered, which has made what should've been a fun game into something intensely frustrating, which is why I stopped playing it almost entirely for a month at a time.
It sounds like the Chinatown Wars multiplayer is local only... plus everyone needs their own card, boo. This shareable waypoint feature is pretty unique, though.
That is pretty cool.

I don't have anyone else's friend code so I can't try it out, but under "multiplayer" there's two options: "wi-fi connection" and "local". It seems to me like there's something you can play online. But, yeah...it's all multi-card.

Word of warning....I've been practicing with helis to turn them into rolling kamikaze deathbombs at the airport or anywhere else I can get a good bit of speed up.

The only problem is, that jumping out at high speed kills me 80% of the time, but the heli leaves a trail of destruction in its wake even after I croak.
