CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]

My first CAG GTAIV night impressions:

a) good group - great casual/coop atmosphere. Thanks guys, I enjoyed it immensely. Glad we were all on mic.
b) game modes - I'm glad we did a variety and that metaly was willing to mix it up according to those people yellin in the mic :applause: I would've gone nuts if it had been rocket launchers all evening...(I'm just not a big fan of them...this ain't TF2 or Quake ya know)...and I'm sure others were dreading the molotov fights.

I really enjoyed the initial $$$gio race. That was fun. I really think that the fast vehicles can just be havoc and no fun because you lose control too easily. Hehe, mopeds just remind me of Vice City.

Cops n Crooks ftw.\\:D/ - I like this game mode. There aren't enough 'pursuit' games out there in the world. This works nicely for me. Although I wish there was more alleyway/shootout stuff to it.

Surprisingly I played on wireless and even with my roommates I didn't have any serious lag problems.

Yeah $$$gio races are always good, I prefer races with either no weapons or only light weapons like pistols/smgs though. We should try racing firetrucks or helicopters sometime. Demolition derbies are fun too.

Haha, those two crooks thought they escaped in the boat but they left their buddy on the mainland. We chased them down and smoked em in our own lil powah boat! We won that match but only by like $50.

Metaly, nice screenie. How'd you snag it?

Nothing fancy, just happened to have my camera around.

And ha, I kept switching between watching the crooks on that boat and Dasflikko swimming around. I had no idea there was a cop boat chasing them until near the end. That was a great surprise.

You should've seen the Biff(dump truck/flatbed truck) races we've had some weeks. The start of the race is usually a giant highway clogging traffic jam, followed by a couple of us glitching through the bridges/walls, followed by just tons of other hilarious instances.

I'm on a wireless connection too and as of late I've been getting kicked off of PSN in mid game many times with the 8002A548 error or something like that.

If the problems persist and I can't figure it out, I may actually call Sony about it, since I've been on wireless since day one with the PS3, so I may be burning out the wifi card in it. The only good part is, my PS3 is still under warranty till NEXT month. :D

As the driver of that boat I would have probably won that round if I had payed better attention to the health of the boat, I didn't realize it was on fire until way too late. Yeah we thought we were golden until we decided to try to go back and pick the straggler up and then saw there were three boats coming after us lol.

Yeah sorry for some reason I got kicked off PSN and it would not let me sign back in, since it was close to midnight, I just went to bed.
 
Good games last night guys. I think the team deathmatch works the best when we're all trying to congregate into one spot. The fact that the spot has big ole titties has nothing to do with it. :p
 
Was spectating that boat chase and it was EPIC. I kept switching between everyone's camera and at one point saw I think kube drive by Dasflikko who was in the city while the other two were away in the boat and was just screaming in my head "Don't kill him or they win!!!!" But, he just kept driving by and ignored him.

Also, had my last second kill on CheapestGamer as he tried to escape via boat in another round. I didn't think the smg had that good of range, bu tit proved me wrong.

Although there were plenty of big ass chains, I was quite disappointed in the lack of Big American TITTIES in the club.

Haha, I was screaming "don't kill him or they win" the entire time cow and I were in the boat doing our chase thing. It really works out when everyone has a mic. :p

Sorry that I bailed last night, but I figured you guys were getting close to playing the Cannonball Run(that I never win), so I went off and played against some other friends on PSN for a couple hours after CAG night.

Unfortunately, my friends ONLY play Team Deathmatch, otherwise I would've invited some of you to play. Although, my friends tend to also be able to pick off people with an M-16 from 3 blocks away.

Also... people seem to forget the other shitty C&C game. The helicopter one... Someone was in the helicopter, but instead of getting away, they tried to pick up someone else.:bomb:

Side note... I think I figured out a way to get my stats to save... although, now that I say it, it won't work anymore, I'm sure.

Haha... in one of the very first C&C games I played, I remember we all rushed to that helicopter behind the mansion and left a guy on the helipad because the cops were shooting at us. I think he even tried jumping after the chopper a few times. :lol: That was probably my defining C&C moment.

I've got to see if the game says I'm still level 5... I kept forgetting to check for new clothes during last night's games.
 
Any word on a game this week? My GF is going out of town and so I believe I'll be a gaming glutton this week. Tuesday same time would be good. I work nights and don't get home on average at 10:20 p.m. central.

GTA is always Wednesdays at 10pm EST...I think we've only missed 3-4 weeks in the past year, so you should be able to get your fix pretty reliably.

Tuesday is SOCOM night for me, metaly, and x3x1x but I know that Cheapest is on GTA fairly often during the week...make sure he's on your friend list.

I used to like the old Sunday night GTA night we used to do, but I was down with the Weds one as well since I'm rarely doing anything on a Weds night.

Then again, as you said yourself Randy, I'm on GTA IV fairly often. It's the same hole I fell into last gen, where I have other games I should be completing(had Mercs 2 and Little Big Planet since they both came out, as well as Rise Of The Argonauts since it launched), but I keep coming back to play GTA constantly.

Hell, I even have a copy of Stranglehold and Timeshift from Kmart, as well as a copy of Def Jam Icon that I just picked up this past week that I could be messing around with.

ANY night is really good for me, though I'm usually playing against my other PSN friends who are insanely good and can pick you off with a SMG from 3-4 blocks away. They only play Team Deathmatch though, with standard weapons, only in Bohan usually and the matches are about 15-20 minutes long.

So, if anyone sees me on and wants to play some TDM with my friends and I, let me know and I'll send you an invite.

Not sure if this belongs in another thread or what, but I kinda still suck at the multiplayer stuff so I need help :)

Fly co-op trophy? That's all I usually do in multiplayer when I'm playing free mode is practice with the chopper. Although, the controls really went from phenomenal(Vice City) to passable(San Andreas) to mediocre(GTA IV) over the past two gens.

In Vice City, I was able to turn on a dime and I could wipe out wave after wave of cops and criminals in the Brown Thunder mode(vigilante missions). But in this game the controls were tweaked and they just blow, massively.

I'm still better than most with the chopper, though I've run into a few who are insanely good with it and can kill people with a single shot from the guns, those people I steer clear of. :lol:

So hard to do those 3 missions under the time-limits...

EDIT: I also keep getting booted out of Bomb Da Base II due to the glitch and can't figure out how to fix that..

I just got kicked out of that one about an hour ago. I was trying to complete the game with Obscur Nocht and we both got kicked out of it and returned to single player.

There seems to be alot more glitches popping up now than when I first started playing this online.

I still hate the kicked glitch, where you get the message 'the connection to one or more players has been lost'. Then when you try to rejoin, it says you've been kicked, even if no one voted for you to be kicked.

I've lost probably close to $10k that way.

Hangman's NOOSE is pretty easy to beat under the time limit, I've run that mission tons of times trying to level up. I know I can help with that one at least if you need. Bomb Da Base and Deal breaker are a bit trickier but doable.

For the Bomb Da Base glitch, a friend at the PS forums posted that it only happens when a player has their router ports misconfigured -and- someone new joins in late or drops before reaching the ship. So in public games this fucking happens all the time. Best way is to play a custom match, private slots set to max.

I apologize if I seriously f'd up on Hangman's NOOSE last night, since I didn't expect quite the flood of cops at the helicopter pads.

Of course in a couple of the games, I was taking Petrovic to the rendezvous spot with 4 sparking rims on the car I picked him up in. I was hoping like hell the cops didn't nail my car too many more times, since some of those vehicles were on the verge of death by the time I go to the spot.

I never realized how much Hangman's NOOSE pays off for completion though, since I got about $4500 for each complete 'hard' game and $2500 for each easy one.

If for nothing, it's a good and quick way to level up.

Speaking of trophies though, I had some free time last night and I tried for the bridge trophy(going under all the bridges in LC, which is the easiest trophy to get besides the burnout and helicopter tour ones).

I get all the way to the last bridge(which I crashed under during my last time attempting the trophy run), which is a REALLY low one so you need the attack chopper to get under it, and I get to the other side and.....NO UPDATE SAYING I COMPLETED IT.

WTF!?!?!?! So, I make a slow and cautious pass under the bridge again, same deal, it doesn't update.

Again, WTF!?!?!?!?!

Another glitch, I suppose?

I have no idea. But keep an eye on your mini-map. Once I had gone under several bridges I kept seeing these weird Trophy symbols pop up on it and they would only stay a second or two...sometimes on the big map also. They were highlighting the ones I had yet to pass under.
 
If you pause the game and go into the map screen while doing the trophy run with the chopper, the icons stay up on the map for as long as you're on the map/pause screen. You have to do this as SOON as you pass under a bridge, when the icons show up on the map for a second or two.

I studied that damn screen really well when I had it paused, since I had done all but that lowest one. However, I had the normal chopper and the body of it was too tall to fit under there without crashing into the underside of the bridge.

When I went to lower it a bit, my chopper went down in a big splash as it sank in the water and that was the end of my attempt THAT time.

So, I know it's the right bridge, but getting it to friggin' update seems to be the problem, unless it DID update but the trophy thing didn't pop up on my screen.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope your family is doing alright and thinks turn out well.

Cheapest - this format thing is totally your fault. If you delete the video out of your quote it should go back to normal.
