It took me awhile to get this one, I thought I'd never get the trophy but with enough bowling practice it's very possible. Just make sure you get as much speed as possible and knock 'em down. Twice I had two strikes in a row, and then failed to get a third, but eventually it came.

I generally just made a habit of taking friends to bowling alleys whenever they called me. :p

And yeah Niko is probably the deepest, best GTA protagonist yet. I do wish they had kept planes and bonuses for every 10 pigeons you kill, though.

Then, I shut off my PS3, only to come on here to find that there was some blog post on Sony's site about this bs update.

Are you on a wired connection? I'm on wireless and on the slowest(and cheapest) DSL connection, so maybe that's my problem, but I wasn't about to shell out $50 a month for Comcast's ripoff bullshit.

Internet access is internet access is internet access. This is why I wish people around me were imbeciles and had the cable internet through a wireless router, so I could ummm 'borrow' some speed and not have to rely on what I'm paying for.:lol:

But I checked and either all the signals were locked down or too weak to be of ANY use.

EDIT: I'm at 49% and I started right around 10 pm, if that gives you ANY idea how slow my connection is.

Yeah I am on wired, but I definitely overpay for my connection too. : / Didn't know what you were working with for a connection, that explains a lot of your rage then. My FW download jumped to like 26% in a few seconds, and then took 3-4 minutes to finish.

Actually, my rage isn't at all to do with my connection issues, it's to do with Sony's totally fuckin' useless crap they keep adding.

The last stupid update was only to add some cockamamie icon for the photo gallery thing, which you still have to download and install after you click on it, I think.

So yeah, wasting an hour worth of time on something completely absurd like the chat or text chat garbage is SOOOOOOO worthwhile.

I said it before and I'll say it again, if they make it so you can SKIP a fuckin' crappy update if it doesn't actually fix any bugs in the system and just adds extraneous garbage, then I'll love and adore Sony.

Till then, I think someone at that company is smoking alot of rock or huffing ALOT of fumes from the manufacture of the plastic shells for the PS2's/PS3's.
 
I was really looking forward to playing wasted last night and then I had to wait about 80 minutes for some freaking worthless update. Here is an idea, how about Rockstar update their fucking shit, so I don't have to waste an hour trying to find a game with auto aim off. Do people in deathmatch who camp with an M4 and the blips on far think they are good when they are killing people who can't see them that have the weakest handgun in the game? At least give them a fighting chance and put it on standard of powerful you retards. It's very funny watching people think they are good when they do poo like that. Thats when I gotta bust out the reverse wheelie driveby or the knife them and kick repeatedly after they are dead move.
My funny asian player model, was getting girls confused with guys the other day and after I killed everyone and talked shit, he kept saying, nice ass, nice tits too. It was hilarious because he kept saying it to everyone and I know they must have been like what the fuck? If they hd a really violent death he kept saying you wanna get high and jacked on speed with me honey. Or my favorite, better keep and eye on this girl!

OMG I just did a reverse wheelie going full speed on the fastest bike in the game and when my front tire hit the deceased players head he catapulted into the air flying 3 car lenks and crash landing into my friends car.

ive gained a new respect for playing without lock on targeting. definelty makes for a fun game. question is the strongest handgun the same as the gun robocop used? it looks alot like it.

I still prefer my method of using a car to pin my opponents up against a wall or other solid object, then blasting them while they struggle to break free. :lol: It's worked quite well for me and since I've found that it works so well, I'll continue to use it.

So, I wonder how many fans I made on the Playstation Blog when I was commenting about the useless fuckin' shit that is FW 2.70.

The next update better come from Rockstar and fix the phantom kick problem.

I know. It seems like Rockstar is acting like they're already friggin' owned by EA with how they seem to just be ignoring the server problems and just hoping more shleps will buy their seriously upgraded(yet downgraded from the last gen incarnations, if you ask me)game.

Had I known how much was changed from the prior games, I would've probably waited and bought it USED for $15 from Blockbuster.

Then again, GTA 4 was my main reason(besides God Of War 3) for getting a PS3 at the time.

I'm not a member of the 100% club and damn proud of that fact. The music in this game has become super repetitive and boring to me already, whereas I was still able to drive around in Vice City or even San Andreas and just cruise around doing random side missions towards 100%.

But even the collection part of this game was boring/annoying as shit this time around. First, they increased the 'packages' to 200, changed them to pigeons and gave you no really good incentive to collect them(aside from 100%).

Second, they took away the car import/export garage to some extent. I liked being able to go in Vice City and pick up a car from the export garage by the airport that I couldn't find on the streets and just be able to go cruising with it.

Third, they seriously fucked up the controls on the helicopters and driving in general. They took the Xbox controls from last gen for driving.

Fourth, they majorly fucked up doing drive-bys. What the fuck is with the manual aiming shit?

Yet, I still find myself playing this game moreso than any other game I have right now(Little Big Planet, Rise Of The Argonauts, Mercenaries 2). Go figure.

Oh and for shits and giggles I took Niko's cash total down to ZERO last night by doing rampages and getting busted/killed.
 
Yeah the game definitely feels like a Next-Gen System Transition game...I can't wait to see what they do next, really. It just feels like they needed to get it out and get it out asap. It's the only reason I can justify them not having all those extra goodies.

I had a lot of interface problems:

a) Mini-map makes you go blind: I love the GPS, it's very, very damn useful. But like other games (KOTOR, Rogue Galaxy, Burnout Paradise) that have a minimap that you use often...you end up looking at that tiny 1/25th of your screen seeing which way you go and hurting your eyes by squinting. And I've got 20/20. They should overlay the GPS onto the main screen like those fake yardlines on TV Football...seriously, there is a whole production piece on Iron Man about the two man crew that worked on nothing but the HELMET HUD in those flying sequences...something like that please? I can understand it not wanting to be cluttered but c'mon.
b) The in-game map is terrible. There are practically no useful landmarks, you don't have the ability to make your own map markers and label them. It's just outdated. It makes the game a chore.

The reason it felt like they rushed it out was because Take-Two(parent company of Rockstar) is in serious financial trouble and without the profits from the sale of GTA IV they would've been on the auction block by now probably.

The way it is, they may still be sold lock, stock and barrel to a bigger company like EA(bleh) since I don't think they're out of the woods yet.

If TT were smart, they would still try and spin off Rockstar as a wholly seperate company so EA or whoever couldn't get their grubby mitts on money making series like GTA and Midnight Club.

Take-Two used to be the main name on many of the games to come out from R*, but as of late they've lessened their corporate logo on the packaging and I couldn't even tell you the last game I saw released under the TT name.

The mini map was a major pain in the ass, yet the sick part is after a while of playing the game I can tell you which way to go to get to X or Y destination in the game. Yet, if you asked me some of the same questions about my own city, I'd probably pull a big DUHHHHHHH.

I get to 'know' the cities in the GTA games by going by landmarks and certain streets. It's even more sick that I can tell you exactly where I am 90% of the time when I respawn just by looking around in the game.
 
Yeah the GPS/minimap is a good idea, but way too small to read it sometimes. There should be an option to enlarge the whole minimap in the next GTA, or at least change the color of the GPS route to bright orange or something so it doesn't blend in with the black & grey.
 
I had no problems with the green waypoint/GPS route thing or the yellow or whatever color it was they put it as on the map otherwise.

But the mini map has always been a pain in the ass to see.

But, at least there's one there unlike the one other game which has annoyed the shit out of me since I got it for Christmas(Rise Of The Argonauts).

You have to keep pausing to go into the map screen since there is NO mini map at all. If you keep getting lost, you keep having to pause and go into the mini map.

I still want a destructible enviro for the next game or this one if Rockstar could release a patch to do it. I just wanna cause mass mayhem on a citywide scale.

OK well today I managed to become host of a room and I ran helicopter races until I had 20 wins. I tallied these wins on paper and I even know I had a few more from various races. Yet I did not get the Midnight Club trophy. What gives?
 
Not a clue. That's like me. I actually tried for the bridge trophy and I got to the LAST bridge in Alderney(which is REALLY low). I went under it numerous times and from numerous angles and it STILL didn't credit me with it.

It listed that I went under 14 of the 15 bridges you need to go under. On a prior attempt, I ended up crashing the chopper into the water under the bridge and had to bail out.

Aside from the burnout trophy which I also have(do a burnout, any vehicle), this was what I figured to be one of the easiest trophies to get, yet it seems that a glitch is stopping me from getting it.

The only reason I've been trying for any of these is because the people I normally play against at night are now playing the shit out of C&C RA 3 at night. Swavage and I usually play maybe 10-12 games with another gamer we play against but then we get bored and log off for the night.

I may actually start a new game soon to see if I can get the almighty 100% outta boredom, though the pigeons are a major pain in the ass, since most of them are out in the open and give you a 1 star wanted level as soon as you pop them.
 
For anyone doing stunt jumps/pigeons.

Get a walk-through. Follow it EXACTLY. Don't just run around plugging stuff off the map. Make sure you kill that pigeon and mark it off. If you can't find it make sure you make a note. Or if you think you might've killed it already make a note.

Last night I was 2 pigeons short and nearly had a panic attack when I realized I might be going through all 200 again. Luckily I took notes.

Make sure you save also because going back and doing the 20 you just did sucks ass.

That's when the guides come in handy, since they normally come with a map showing the location of each jump or whatever.

And, in my case, I'm doubly lucky since I have TWO fuckin' copies of the guide. One I paid full price for when I picked up my PS3 the day after I got the game and the other I got for $5 from a used game shop locally.

The $5 copy was supposed to be going to a friend, who kind of balked after I told them I couldn't find a copy for cheaper than $5, so I got stuck with it.

But if I were going to rip the map out of either of them, it'd definitely be the $5 copy.
 
yeah the heli controls do suck but i love the way as handle. drifting in races is the shit!!!!!!!! so is drifting into people and shooting them lol.
