CAG GTAIV Night: Same Bat-Time, Same Bat-Channel[ 9/2 @ 10pm EST ]

Dude... not cool... talking about a guy's mom like that.

Aww... looks like GTA nite has just gotten better and better.

Sadly I don't think I'll be able to participate again since my move to the south has been a pretty big change in schedule for me.

I got lucky and got a job a few days after moving down here and my schedule for the foreseeable future is 3:30pm - 12:00am CST, Tuesday - Saturday.

So it's been a blast everyone, GTA nite 4 lyfe.

Wow... People sound different enough that I can tell pretty much who's talking all the time.

This.
I can never understand a thing you say, cheapest. The closest I got to understanding something you've said was when you were laughing at teamkilling during that last (I think) C&C.

And... I'm pretty sure I have over 50 and nothing really changed between last time I played (two weeks ago) and last night. Actually, I added more people to my list.

And... did no one catch my joke about cheapest bringing the wine... or was it just that funny?
I thought it was clever...8-[
I notice some subtle differences, but not enough to really know 100% who's talking, cept for Kube.

As for when I say something and not understanding, that's the whole point. I don't really have anything to add, so I just mumble and spout gibberish for the hell of it.

When I was teamkilling in the last C&C, I was very tempted to grab a firetruck and use the water to pin each of ya down, then mow you down(like I did anyway).

But I ended up not doing that and just went for the straight up kills.

 Well, I alluded to it in the thread before the CAG night, so I gave fair warning.

I am getting SO bored with GTA IV lately, more than I was before actually. About the only thing that has kept me playing has been people playing Hangman's Noose/Deal Breaker later at night.

Mind you, if Rockstar actually still gave a crap about this game, they'd add some things for the one year anniversary of it's release to make it seem fresh and new again, but they're already focused on GTA V and/or keeping the company out of EA's grubby mitts since the sales of GTAIV only staved off their eventual sale for a bit.

I'd be satisfied if they'd simply fix the Bomb Da Base II glitch so I could finish Fly the Coop trophy...

The chances of them fixing any glitches at this point are slim to nil though, I'm sure.

I just hope when they release Vice City(you know it's gonna be the next game, since they re-used LC this time), they make it so I can take out some of those Art Deco buildings along the beach with a few well placed RPG's. :D

C'mon Rockstar, satiate my hunger for wanton destruction.

if they do anything they need to remake san andreas and be sure to add in all the weapons and vehicles ( i want to use a harrier jet). not to mention add in multiplayer so groups of people can form gangs and fight for territory. and hopefully they will toss in bigfoot or aliens or something. all those damn rumors from bigfoot to a sea monster to sharks to leather face.........nothing. id like to see one damn really cool hidden thing in the games outside of a damn dildo weapon.

That's why I liked Scarface last gen, since they DID have a shark in there. If you got stranded out on one of those docks in the middle of the bay with no boat, you'd better make sure you bought a couple of boats and call for one or else Jaws would eat you once you started swimming back to shore.

I jumped and then laughed my ass off the first time I saw the animation for that.

One thing I wanted to be able to do in GTA IV(besides use the flamethrower to torch people and parachutes to base jump) was be able to ride atop the subway trains and 'surf' them. However, there was no really easy way to get atop them in the game that I can recall.

I guess if Rockstar doesn't make a destructible enviro for the next GTA, I could always just play the original Mercs or the sequel, but I still wanna see a fuckin' crater when my car blows up not just a tiny pock mark on the ground.

My friend and I just got back into the GTA4 multiplayer tonight. We'll be at the next game.

Has anyone actually Platinum'd GTA4?

Don't be intimidated by xxx's terse replies. He is a robot.

And I'm sure some people out there in Internetland have gotten the platinum. Nobody here has, though. There are like three different levels of insane time investment required.

You mean people actually go for the bullshit trophies? I only do so outta boredom when no one is on. Otherwise, I think they're a total waste of time and I always have.

How long does it take to get the Wanted trophy? I've been reading horror stories about that one.
You're a total waste of time.
:cry::cry: And I thought you cared. Oh well, I guess I'll have to remember to cook a grenade and blow everyone up during one of the co-op matches when we're on the same team.:D See you Weds.

Might want to be careful with those nades. Remember, we're not afraid to kick people- just ask your friend from 2 weeks ago.

And I'm not sure if I'll make it this week because the greatest game ever was released today -
EXCITEBOTS!
SUPER SANDWICHES FOR ALL!

I don't really care at this point. I'm finally getting sick enough of GTA IV that I may sell my original copy to a friend's brother in law for $20. Thanks to the Blockbuster clearance, I have 2-3 Special Edition 'spares' anyway, but the phantom kicks and other glitches have taken their toll on my enjoyment of this game online.

As for the person from 2 weeks ago being my 'friend', I play against him at night, but he's far from a friend. He's just some random person I play against on PSN on occasion. He's on my 'friends' list and so are many of you, but there is still a difference between online and offline friends imo.
Guys, I am not a machine.
Why didn't you eliminate them, Albert?

A long time. Many sessions of Hangman's NOOSE until you basically get sick of GTA IV. And then some more... Basically it takes $5 million accumulated from online game modes only, and by the time one reaches level 9, you're only halfway there in terms of cash. For some reason I still want to get it though.

If you did nothing but Hangman's NOOSE on hard without dying once(since I think if you die that takes off some $$$ or is that in Deal Breaker on hard?), it'd take you 1000 games to accumulate $4.5 mil. So then add in another XYZ number of games until you get the other half mil.

Like Truth said, ALOT of HN games.

Oh shiiii forgot about Excitebots! Barring some ridiculously low review scores, I'll be picking that up ASAP.

I thought to get to level 10 you needed 1 million $

im gonna cry

What's the deal with joining games? Is the community dead or something? Every time my friend and I try to play games, we're the only ones in the room. Is this because we're in a party, or is the game just dead? It's fun going one on one with him but I wanna start playing other people too. It's getting kinda boring.

Party mode shouldn't be a factor. I think it'll just drop your party into existing games with random other players. What modes were you trying to play?

You and your friend should be able to get your fix on Wednesday. They've been pretty big lately.

We tried a lot of stuff: Deathmatch, TDM, races, Bomb the base, etc. Each time it was just us in the game.

could depend of the time of day you try and play. just keep switching rooms till you find one with enough people in it.
Sounds like Cheapest's bloodlust is growing by the day.
I shall spill the blood of many on my way to annihilating everyone in my path.

I wish you could grab C4 charges and place them on vehicles like in Mercenaries and Mercenaries 2. A vehicle with a C4 charge on it in Mercs makes a HUGE explosion, enough to take down an entire building in the game.

I forget who told me that tactic, but I've used it in both games thus far and it'd make for a hell of a surprise attack in GTA IV. But grenades work just as well, except that you have to practically suicide yourself to get the tactic to work.

This is so weird, GTAIV's online taking up 90% of my game time for the past 10-ish days. At least it got rid of my buyer's remorse I had when I first got it. Been finding some great Cops 'n Crooks matches which has taught me Liberty City's layout (used to be that I relied heavily on waypoints).

But yeah, metaly, don't turn FF on and how many times do I have to grab an RPG to convince you that Race > GTA Race (at least for Biff races)?!

Amazon is being slow to ship out my Excitebots, so there will be GTA tomorrow after all. However, in true Excitebots fashion, everyone has to use the motion controls!!

that would be cool especially if you put it on a car, drive the car on top of someone, get out and then set it off at a safe distance. it drives me nuts how many things should have and could have been in the game and arent.
IGN gives it an 8.4
That must mean it is incredible, because I remember Excite Truck getting generally mediocre reviews. And we all know how that turned out.
Penny Arcade comic
Like w/e d00d!! Excite Truck = best racing game of any gen. :nottalking: Going to go race my boring monster truck now while everyone is having fun with their robot ladybugs and bats and all that.

All this talk about Excite Truck and Exitebots and Wii games made me wish I played my Wii... Almost.

I started playing bits and pieces of Saint's Row 2 last night and I must say that SR 2 has almost everything that GTA IV SHOULD have.

You can do spray tags to get respect, you can do ambulance missions, you can do police missions, you can even tow cars away in tow truck missions and the biggest of them all: YOU CAN BASE JUMP OFF OF BUILDINGS!!!

Rockstar really fucked up this time by taking out all of the fun little distracting side missions.

This may be one of my last weeks playing GTA IV online actually. I can't believe I'm saying that, but it's true since there's so many things I can do in Mercs 2 and SR2 that GTAIV is just lacking in.

Give me my flamethrower back, Rockstar. Give me my parachute back, Rockstar. Give me my unrealistic jetpack back, Rockstar. And for cripe's sake, I wanna be able to obliterate half the fuckin' city, so give me my destructible environment, Rockstar.

If they go the 'realistic' route in the next game, I may forgo buying it till it's bargain bin fodder.

If you grab a copy of Mercs 2, lolkizz, and wanna play some co-op one of these nights, lemme know. The game's only $20 new at retail now and it's well worth it.

IGN called Excitebots the Most Realistic Racing Sim EVAR. Seriously. It's that good.

Edit: Did someone say that there's a GTA4 night tonight?

I'm kinda with Cheapest though, I think it might be my last time online tonight. After this, I say we make the switch to the board game.
