CAG League Sports: Madden 12 "JV League" - We Finished 3 Seasons! Thanks Everybody!!!

MVP 05 on PC was amazing. I got years of play out of it, until The Show finally retooled in 08 and stole me away. I played 08 a ton, 09 a decent amount, but only played 10 a bit. I skipped 11.

I love baseball as a sport and baseball video games. The only problem I have is that I do not like to play shortened seasons. I also hate simming any games in an arcade sports game. That leaves me with daunting 162 game schedules to play out. When all I mainly played was a baseball game, I would still tear through multiple seasons every year. Now, I can't come close to even completing one.

So the last few years, all I have played with is OOTP. I mix up simming and managing games on that and it allows me to still feel like I am involved with a baseball game, without having to spend as much time.

Until MVP 05, my favorite baseball game was Earl Weaver's Baseball, which I had on an Amiga computer. I played dozens and dozens of seasons out on that. It had a fantastic AI, played games out realistically and I loved holding fantasy drafts with all the greats from present and past. Ty Cobb would always be my #1 overall pick despite being a Yankee fan.

20 - Titans
17 - Texans

A loss for the Texans in a heartbreaker of a game. The Titan were incredibly lucky the entire game (Except 1st quarter), both of their TDs were over 60yrd plays (KO return, and a TD run by Johnson.)

Great Game Docb. Next season could be alot of fun.

Yea man! I ended my season on a 3 game losing streak! Awesome game dude! Just sucks knowing I'm down for a week or two waiting fr the draft and next season! I thought I had your number in the first quarter! You started Breakin big runs and seeming passes into my zones! I couldn't do anything after that first quarter! Well played man! We are gonna have fun in the south next season!

How about that Super Bowl? Also, I am available to play the Bears game this week. So whoever is playing them, let me know when you can play.

They play another secondary team.

Fun game to watch..hard to say it was a 'great' game, but it was close and had drama right to the end, so that is all I can really hope for.

If Gronkowski would have caught that batted pass, would have been the greatest ending ever, however it was an ok game, where I think the wrong team lost...
however it was an ok game, where I think the wrong team lost...
How does this statement make any sense? The Patriots got outplayed. The better team won.

I wanted the Giants to win, but I also wanted Wes Welker to get a ring, so I was conflicted. Watching that pass sail through Welker's open hands near the end of the game was heartbreaking, as he could have secured the win and a ring for himself right there, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. The way the Giants were playing though, they definitely were the better team today and I would have been surprised if they didn't win.

Sorry it's a day late, but yesterday was quite adventurous between me being sick, a fussy baby, and the Super Bowl.

Week 16 Summary

Power Rankings
1. Atlanta Falcons
2. St. Louis Rams
3. Kansas City Chiefs
4. Green Bay Packers
5. Denver Broncos

Offensive Player of the Week
Ray Rice - 9 att, 180 yds, 3 TDs

Defensive Player of the Week
Ray Lewis - 11 tackles, 2 FF

Kaster - posting here bc I am on my phone, so I hope you see it.

My Internet is down, so I can't get online for our matchup. I don't know when I will be backup at the moment. Sorry man, I will reach out to ya when I get back up and see what we can set up.

I understand, haha. I'll probably be around whenever you're back online.

Statement makes sense in I was giving my opinion. Someone asked how about that Super Bowl, I answered. I also didn't say anything about which team was better. I don't see why a remark like that is even necessary. I figured I shouldn't even bother saying anything when I wrote it, I should just stick to playing my games, and not bother posting on here.

I was just confused why it was the "wrong team". You made it sound like the Giants didn't deserve to win.

One of the things I love most about MVP 05 is the "Intervene" feature. I can sim through half inning by half inning, and if it looks like a good game, I can jump in and play it. I know The Show has the skip ahead feature, but I like MVP's version because I don't have to actually go into a game to use it. It lets me feel like I have some control over a simmed game rather than just pressing a button and watching the final score pop up.

cowboys need a sub for the giants tonight at 5 central if any one can pm me dont care who it is or there regular teams record

Now that my real life Super Bowl dreams have been shattered.

I have only this Franchise's Super Bowl to win.

KC is ready for some PLAYOFFS.

Denver vs. Kansas City is scheduled for tomorrow night.

I maybe the biggest nerd and was never a fan or the series or most of the movies but aside from the newest Star Trek from JJ Abrams, Star Trek First Contact was the best "older" one! I thougt it held its own outside of the Star Trekkie blanket with regular movies!

Hey MCDUGALL, I'm ready when you are bro! Invite me to a game! Docb9110

ATL - 13
TB - 10

What a tremendous effort on both sides..the game came down to a game winning FG as time expired for Atlanta to squeak out a win. It could have went either way and I just happened to get some good breaks on defense, despite not forcing a single TO.

My offense, on the other hand, turned it over twice at critical times. Both were my fault, I tried to force a pass at the goal line. It was a sharp pass, so I thought I could get it off, but Kaster did a great job responding to it and got it. The second was a fumble on Ryan after he took for a first down when the TB coverage smothered all my receiving options. I was trying to slide, but I don't think I took my thumb off the stick in time and Kaster made me pay for it.

Great game as always Kaster.

First Contact was good, the best of all the films was definately- Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

If you ain't seen that, or any of the Captain Kirk films, get on it. They are better than the Next Generation films for the most part.

Nah, you give me too much credit. I was fortunate to be in that game, thanks to those two redzone turnovers. Blount had 8 yards on 6 carries, and the only pass Yanksfan didn't complete was my interception. Plus, Turner broke a 100 yards rushing. The only way I kept it close was taking exceedingly long on my non 3 and out drives. But good game man, we may meet one last time before the season is done :D

The big Chiefs vs. Broncos game is scheduled for tonight.

Anyone know if the Jets are 10-5 or 9-6. If they lost last week, the Chiefs go into the playoffs as the AFC top seed with a win tonight.

Edit: haha, nevermind Jets got a tie, at 9-5-1, so the Chiefs do clinch the #1 seed with a win tonight.

Guys, sorry I haven't been around. I finished moving on Saturday and Verizon was supposed to arrive to hook up Fios on that same day. However, they just now got it set up, so the Steelers are back and I will be available.

Lyric and I were supposed to have our game yesterday, but we had a miscommunication and it wasn't played. Currently waiting on him to get back to me to reschedule it.

really need the eagles to lose this week so the cowboys can make the playoffs with me missing out on a few games guessing they got simmed or something either way thoughs game really cost me UGH!!!!!!!!!

This is the second night in a row Blade and I have been scheduled to play, and I've been sitting around waiting over a half hour for him to show for the second night in a row.

what are we doing for secondary teams if they make the playoffs...there is still a possibility that my Ravens and Redskins make the playoffs.

For secondary teams, it has been discussed that they could be handed off to dedicated members that did not make the playoffs with their primary. I don't know if this has been 100% agreed upon, but I think it is a good idea.

Also having some trouble getting in touch with Tanabeo. He PM'd me yesterday at 6 PM asking me when I could play, telling me he works between 1-11 PM CST. I messaged him back at 12:15 AM (when I woke up) telling him I could play then and would be on for the next couple hours depending on how the baby slept. I checked XBL and saw that he was playing Final Fantasy XI, so I sent him a message on there asking if he wanted to play our game. I got no response.

Hopefully I can try again tonight (I'm assuming he's working the same hours), but the baby has been kinda fussy today, so there's no telling when she'll sleep or for how long. I don't know how much this game even matters (if I win, the Panthers and I would have the same record and would have split our series) or how much I care. But my gaming time is definitely limited enough that I can't just sit around and get no response when I send a message.

EDIT - He just PM'd me again now about trying tonight. As I said, hopefully I'm able to.
If they actually got the tiebreakers right this year, then Carolina would get the playoff spot due to having a better record in divisional games.
So, it's a meaningless game then. All right, well I'm definitely not going to strain myself to play it then. I told Tanabeo we can try for right when he gets home tonight. But if I have any complications, somebody else can sub.

Hey, sorry I forgot about tonight, I remembered a hour before then got busy. If you were to just message me on here my iPhone would get the email and I would have been on as I usually check it when it goes off. As far as yesterday I didn't know we confirmed a time. I do take responsibility for today and apologize. Sometimes we get busy and forget, I am free anytime tonight or tomorrow, and I promise to be there.

Rams 14
49ers 3

St. Louis keeps its momentum going as it heads into the playoffs with a 14-3 win over division rival San Francisco. Despite two turnovers, the Rams were able to hold the Niners to just three points. Sam Bradford and Co. did enough on offense to secure the win.

GG G33. This was a much different contest than our first game. I feel relieved I was able to get the win. Really could have gone either way.

Saints - 19
Panthers - 0

The Saints "Jekyll & Hyde" routine continues all the way to the end of the season. With nothing to play for and something to prove, the Saints defense stepped up big, limiting Carolina to 92 yards of total offense...much of which came in garbage time in the 4th quarter.

After forcing a 3 and out to start the game, the Saints marched down the field behind a rushing attack led by Darren Sproles, culminating in a 14 yard TD strike to Marques Colston. The Saints defense held again on Carolina's next possession, and once again, New Orleans moved the ball downfield, this time finishing with a 9 yard TD pass to Calvin Johnson.

An INT gave the Saints a chance to go up by 3 scores, but with 60 seconds left in the half, they saw their drive stall with a 4th and 3 at the Carolina 41. Rather than risking giving up good field position with not much time to play, the Saints decided to punt, pinning the Panthers at their own 1 yard line. One play later, DeAngelo Williams was dropped in the endzone for a safety.

Up 16-0, the Saints played ball control the rest of the game, tacking on a field goal in the 4th quarter and stopping a final drive by Carolina. GG to Tanabeo. I finally managed to stop a scrambling QB in this one, sacking Cam Newton 3 times and only giving up one big run.

Saints
Drew Brees - 10-13, 123 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Darren Sproles - 20 att, 111 yds, 2 rec, 16 yds
Marques Colston - 2 rec, 24 yds, 1 TD
Calvin Johnson - 2 rec, 24 yds, 1 TD
Lance Moore - 2 rec, 37 yds
Jimmy Graham - 2 rec, 22 yds

Panthers
Cam Newton - 3-9, 45 yds, 1 INT, 2 att, 19 yds
Noel Devine - 7 att, 34 yds
DeAngelo Williams - 6 att, 9 yds, 1 rec, 4 yds
David Gettis - 2 rec, 41 yds

No idea if this game will mean anything at all to the playoff race, but at least I went out on my sword.

EDIT - One humorous thing of note, I played the entire 2nd half with a squirmy baby on my lap (Tanabeo probably noticed I paused the game a couple times). Literally, the second the game ends, she passes out, lol. Aint that the way.
who own the cards
You realize there's a list of all the teams and their owners on the first page of this thread right?
Promoted Yanksfan to commish in case my game with Tanabeo doesn't work out and he has to find a sub.
Cool. Promoted you back now since you did get your game in.

Are we doing our own MVP, or will the 'league' automatically pick one? To me, there are only three real candidates: Jahvid Best, Steven Jackson and Justin Bannan.

For me, it is Jackson all the way with that dual threat approach. Over 2000 yards rushing and 1000 receiving. That is insane.

I would go:

1. Jackson
2. Best
3. Bannan

Any others?

Well, the leaguemanager site does pick one, but I don't see a reason why we couldn't have a "Player's Choice MVP" as well...though the 3 that you named are the top 3 candidates on the website anyway (just not in that order).
