So I thought I would throw in my two cents.

I think secondary teams that make the playoffs should be allowed to be controlled by people who have been active and have maybe had a difficult time with a crappier team. For example, Ultimate Matt is a great player, but is unfortunate to have the terrible Browns. If he was the Packers, Jets, etc, he would easily make the playoffs. Therefore it is kinda unfair (Atleast in the first season) for someone to pick two great teams and get to play them in the playoffs, just because they picked great team.

Anyway. Comish, are we planing on having three day deadlines in the playoffs to speed it up? After all, less teams will be playing.

Yeah, asking for a sub has always been the right course of action there. It's crazy to me how hung up people get on secondary teams. All it is is assigned subbing, guys. It's just an attempt at efficiently managing that large a number of empty teams. If we didn't have those teams specifically assigned to people, can you imagine the number of "Who can sub for the _____?" questions we'd have every single week?

Both of my teams could possibly be in the playoffs depending on the IND/JAX sim, but it's not because I picked two great teams. I'll give you the Packers. They are great, but NOBODY wanted the Jags. People avoided them like the plague, and the only reason I picked them up was because someone had to due to them facing a primary team in the second or third week.
 
I personally am hoping we can do 2 day deadlines in the playoffs. Well, maybe not a hard deadline, but I really hope with only 4 games (at most) per playoff week, and with a strong incentive for everyone to play (at least IMO), that we can push through them quickly. It makes it more exciting for everyone following, it makes it more exciting for most playing and it also gets the teams eliminated to the offseason portion so we can conduct our draft and move forward while we all still have some positive momentum.

but im about to get on now and should be ready by 8pm . if a sub is ready i think it only be fair that i not play a guy who i already played ,a division or conferance owner . as playoffs come its easy to gage someones play style or if i already played you then you know how to stop me . just sayin i dont care but just sayin lol

I didn't get anything Monday from you, at least on my end. If you sent a message on XBL on Monday, I did not receive it. I messaged you Sunday, you didn't get it when I was around. You messaged me back later but I didn't see it until it was too late.

I saw you messaged me yesterday on XBL as well, that is when I posted in here that you had been active and suggested you look for a sub instead of just messaging me on XBL where I may not see messages. I use PMs on CAG to set up game scheduling times and I have not had a single issue with scheduling a game with an opponent yet, including subbing for many other teams to help them out.

I offered to sub for when you when I saw you needed one. It didn't work out. It is not my responsibility to keep checking XBL for messages to play a game that is neither my primary or secondary team. You are taking cell phone photos, like I am to blame for something? Ridiculous. Just post in here when you are free and find someone. I can tell you I won't offer to sub for you in the future.

Friend is registered, he likes the Bears as his primary. I show them still open. He likes the high pick they get. I will personally vouch for this guy. Very by the rule type of player. I've played a few games with him and he's a great guy.

i was hoping to sub as the skins agianst the eagles since hes in my division and ive only played him once and winner gets to go to the playoffs
 
N3XTLVL just delayed 30 minutes. So I guess we will get going around 8:50-9:00.

I dont hava problem with you subbing dvo, I just though it was frowned upon to sub for your own division.

I don't know if you understood what he was saying. He's not the owner of the Redskins. The owner is og whitewidow. Yanksfan was offering to sub for him in case you were having trouble getting in touch with him.

The Redskins are tied with you guys too though. Are you not concerned with them winnign the game? Not sure that I like the idea of a division member subbing. Letting Dark Rider do it is probably a better idea...just to keep you clear of the outcome either way.

I'll be away from my X-Box from, 2/10 til late PST 2/12.

So I should be back in time, as the top seed who will probably be away from all computers for the weekend.

Can I request that we not sim the second playoff round til atleast tuesday morning. (I'll be able to play late Sunday and all night Monday)
 
i get what ur saying ur right i prolly shouldnt sub but either way the nfc east is pretty tight on who is in and who is off of the playoffs going to be interesting thats for sure.

Under blustery conditions with 18 mph winds, Cincinnati's defense came up big to give the Bengals a solid victory over Baltimore. The Bengals forced four INTs to keep Joe Flacco and Co. off the field.

The wind wreaked Havoc on Og whitewidow's passing attack, and it seemed Flacco just couldn't keep his passes in bounds. The Bengals' Bruce Gradkowski was the perfect game manager, going 15 of 23 for 228 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

The Bengals never were able to get their ground game going, only posting 28 rushing yards.

GG Og whitewidow. That wind was tough.
 
All right, on that note, we have advanced to the playoffs. Funny thing, with the win, the Redskins took the NFC East. So, DVO, had you subbed that game and won...you would have knocked yourself out of the playoffs. Had you lost with the Redskins, you might have gotten in. Now you see why I didn't want you to sub for that game?

In the wild AFC North, the Steelers ended up coming out on top. And with 4 straight wins to end the season, the Colts stole the AFC South from Jacksonville...so uh, G33, we still need you, man.

And as expected, the Panthers got the other wild card spot. Obviously, I had my chances this season to win games that I didn't, but I'm not thrilled that Tanabeo got into the playoffs thanks to a few sim wins that should have been played. That will not happen again next season.

Thoughts on this.. I think 3 days per advance is fair and that should squeeze in.

So are any secondary teams open for the playoffs? I'd be interested in them if they make it to when it may be my chance to use one if that is the route we're going.

I'll say this right now: I've put a lot of effort into improving and playing well this season. I will be PISSED if I lose due to some bullshit cheesing from a guy who doesn't even deserve to be in the playoffs.

Not sure if this was in reference to Tanabeo, but I know I had problems with the way he played in the past. Over the course of this season though, I actually have learned a few things and improved. He's a guy who relies on a scrambling QB. That's just his style (not even going to say it's cause he has the Panthers...because in the other league he does the same stuff with Josh Johnson). Just how he likes to play the game.

And it's fine. You just have to make sure you're calling the right plays and manually adjusting your players to handle it...because Madden's AI logic will just let a scrambling QB run amok (like the way an AI teammate will not work with you to force a guy to the sideline, but run in a straight line, allowing him to get to the outside).

4-3 sets in man coverage with a LB (or two) spying go a long way. For that matter, tell your linemen to spy/contain too (highlight one, press A, then press left/right on the right stick). Mix in some CB blitzes and you should have him fairly limited. Make Newton beat you with his arm. Most of his throws are going to come on the run anyway (thus why he was 3-9 with 1 INT in our last game).

The only real "cheap" thing I would say he did was he ran backward with Devine to get to the sideline a time or two. My defenders had a play on him, but he avoided it by running away from them and around them. Honestly, this SHOULDN'T be considered cheap...because it SHOULDN'T work so well. But because of the retarded way EA programs that little sideline speed boost and the AI's angles, it's way too effective. And it's impossible to tell somebody "you can only run at this angle", so that's just Madden being Madden.
 
I have played Tanabeo twice and I never had an issue with how he plays. He didn't abuse anything against me and we split two competitive games. The only issue with him was taking some unannounced time off from the league and having a few more games simmed than would be preferable.

Maybe I came off a little harsh. I just remember playing him early on in the other league, and he did some things I wasn't so happy about. I'll keep an open mind this time.

Thanks for the tips, n8. I need to run some practice time against Carolina and try to see how it goes. I've got AJ Hawk and Clay Matthews, so hopefully they can keep Newton in check.
 
so disappointed i didnt make the playoffs but really have no one to blame but myself the 3 or 4 games i missed out on really cost me since they were mostly loses but o well i guess just got to do better in season 2

Maybe he played differently against me, but perhaps he just has come along as a player since whenever that last matchup was.

I'll say this..looking at the stats, he is a good runner with Cam. But it isn't his bread and butter either. He spreads the ball, both passing and running.

It is going to be a great game I imagine. Both of you are good players. The NFC playoff picture is looking pretty tough. I have to admit though, I am hoping to not have to matchup against the Pack.

It could be that trades cannot be confirmed until after playoffs, but you could start having discussions and agree to some preliminary deals now. Especially with draft picks, which won't have any impact on playoff rosters unless players are included.

My season is over; good game, hit a tough laggy part in the 4th quarter when i didn't need it. Compton doesn't have the accuracy that Grossman does i had a tough time with it.

Nail-biting ending to a great game. Redskins came up with a early FG off a fumble by Best. However, after that the Lions roared into the lead and never gave it up. At the end of the 4th quarter with 2 minutes left, down 3 the Redskins drove got held on the 14, the Lions punched in a TD on their first play. The game goes to 28-18 with 1:40 or so left. The Redskins drive it all the way down field and score with 0:05 left. They onside kick and recover. They throw up a deep pass in the end-zone that gets batted down to end the game.

Great way to kick off the playoffs guys. If Carolina wins, then I will face them. If GB wins, then we get a rematch Blade. I am not looking forward to that.

I hope some of the other games can be played today. I am pumped to see how they play out.
