CAG League Sports: Madden 12 "JV League" - We Finished 3 Seasons! Thanks Everybody!!!

Yea, if possible, I would recommend using both the EA site and the XBox like DVO said.

XBox - Use for actual drafting. It is a bit easier.

EA website - Use for text based chatting.

I actually used the website when I joined the other league a few weeks ago to do both. The site wasn't that bad for drafting, but it seems like it would be easier on the 360.

Doc - I am shooting you a PM right now with my cell # so you can just text me though. I don't want to leave anything to chance.

I've heard some horror stories of people drafting with the EA site and getting the wrong player. Don't know how much that comes up though.

I used it and didn't get anything screwed up. Just be careful and you should be fine. Maybe I just got lucky though. I will likely use the website again to draft from so I can hang out with my wife while we draft.

I know the playoffs have barely begun but we might want to start planning for a draft date. Getting 17 or however many people to agree on one time isn't easy.

Check back a few pages or so, we had some discussion.

So far, it looks like Sat night is the best, with a later start time of anywhere from 9-11 EST. I think the only person who says they cannot make that is Matt Young, but we had several people confirm they could make that.

I would like to think we could have the playoffs wrapped up by Thursday. Tonight, we should be advancing to the conference title games and I would like to think we could get those two games, plus the Super Bowl, done rather quickly. If not, I think Friday is still a pretty realistic date.

I with there was a spectate option for madden. That is going to be a great game!

Can we institute a rule where if a trade is proposed to the league then the players are locked until final decision?

All right, just going through the various trades that have been laid out:

Detroit Lions
first round draft pick
fifth round draft pick

FOR

Houston Texans
second round draft pick (HOU)
second round draft pick (DET)

Dallas Cowboys
Arian Foster, RB, 92 OVR, age 26, POT A

FOR

Houston Texans
first round draft pick (HOU)
first round draft pick (DAL)

Detroit Lions
Mikel Leshoure, RB, 72 OVR, age 21, POT A

Dallas Cowboys
Jordan Shipley, WR, 74 OVR, age 25, POT A

I haven't seen much objection to these, and I really have no problems with them. Just make sure nothing is put through till after the Super Bowl.

As for an official draft time, Saturday seemed like a day that would work for many. I'd be fine with a start time of 9 PM EST. I wouldn't want to do much later than that since it's going to probably take a couple hours as is.
The Texans WILL NOT be getting Foster from the Cowboys. Apparently Foster was continued to be shopped around or someone made an offer after our trade was submitted for approval and a new "better" deal was struck. In DVO's defense he did come to me and ask though he tried to make a strong case for me keeping my first round draft picks it still felt shady. I ok'd DVO to back out but only because I don't like dealing with crap like that. It's classless! A little pissed right now. In the future would the league be willing to lock a trade in if it is put for approval an only allow negotiation with other clubs to continue if the trade is not approved.

I'd be ok with someone backing out but whb submitted for approval it should be put on hold and the players locked for the time of approval.
Well, the problem with this is that these trades aren't technically even eligible to be approved until after the Super Bowl. Discussing them at all right now is working outside the trade deadline. Not really sure how you can tell people they can't back out of a deal that isn't eligible to be approved yet.

But I have nothing to hide here. DVO approached me asking about Calvin Johnson or Marques Colston. I responded by asking him if the Foster trade had been fully agreed upon because that would be the only player I'd really have any interest in acquiring, as I feel that boosting my running game would serve me better next season. He said it basically had, and he would feel terrible for backing out on you. I told him I completely understood and that I would look to fill my running back needs elsewhere.

He messaged me back, proposing a 3 way. After my initial arousal, I realized he was talking about Madden, and was greatly disappointed ;) The deal had you getting Foster and me getting your draft picks, but I told him I really wasn't interested in grooming a young RB after I had just traded a rookie with an A potential in Ingram. Ultimately, I'm not even sure if I'm interested enough in Foster to shake up my team with the necessary pieces required to get him. I might just give Sproles' speedy ass the job next season and see what he can do.

You have no reason to be pissed at me, as I did nothing "classless" or "shady". Direct your anger elsewhere.

I feel ya Doc, I saw your post about the trade. I had that happen to me a few times in the other league when I first joined. I had people offer me trades, agree to them and then the person that proposed the deal to me would back off and say it wasn't enough and want more. It is irritating. Don't offer a trade if you don't want to do it, but especially once its been agreed upon by both sides.

I don't know if we can make a rule on it though. I just file it away and know not to really take any trade offers from them seriously any longer.
Can we institute a rule where if a trade is proposed to the league then the players are locked until final decision?
I haven't had any issues with this in here, but I can relate to what he's talking about.

Brutal to spend time thinking about a trade, agree on it, post it. And then have someone back out.

Having said that, It's kind of hard to have a rule against that.
What the penalty?

I think a rule to ban couter offers is the wrong route to go, even though it's most likely annoying (I haven't had it happen to me). It's kind of like in real life. If some team hears that player X is on the market from a potential trade, then there will be couter offers if other teams feel they need said player.

Though, it can be really annoying to post a trade, then people vote on it, then it's like "oh sorry nevermind" and then another trade is posted. Maybe there should be a time frame? For example: Once you post the initial trade proposal you have 24 hours to couter offer. Obviously the time can be changed to whatever..

Just a thought.

I appreciate that man. He came back and basically apologized for it and Said he wouldn't back out on me. Which is why I erased the posting.

Like I said I understand that a trade can be backed out on but after you post it for league approval it should be kind of locked until either the league approves or disapproves. That's was what I meant.

In all honesty, I don't have the time to be scouting out big trades and assessing what kind of payoff I'd be getting anyway. I'm most likely just going to stand pat with my roster and play my games. Even just looking up Foster's stats, Colston's stats, etc. felt like a chore.

Though they are a bit of work, trades are like 50% of the fun for me!

More directed out of anger. My point was that the trade was up on the forums for approval and everyone has access and I know you read it man. Your the commish. While "classless" or "shady" may not be the best words to describe you, i think you have done a freaking awesome job, it's a pretty bad feeling when it's been posted, commented on and waiting for approval then have someone who seen that, I can only assume because the deal only changed today when he messaged me so you either went to him today or very recently with the offer.

I have no grudges man because as I said you are amazing and keeping this league together but I feel this was out of the blue and didn't expect it from you. Matter of factly before I knew it was you I was going to PM and ask you to approve because I had already made other moves assuming this was going to get approved as no one said anything against it after initial posting.

As I said no harm no foul. Which is why I erased the posting. I took a bad route in posting and calling out individuals who In all honestly, from your posting, agreed with me. So I do appologize for that.

And there goes mine as well..

My X-Box is dead, I have to send it to Microsoft.

Whoever wants to take over the Chiefs for the playoffs go ahead.

I apologie guys, not much I could do here.I thought it was just the power cord so I went out and bought another at lunch today, but no, the thing is toasted.

This sucks that Brown can only play at 9:30 tonight and I'm only posting it now, but I've done everything short of rent an X-Box in the last few hours.

I'll probably miss the draft as well, not sure how long this whole process will take.

I suppose missing the draft isn't the end of the world, and I shouldn't miss too many games next seaon.

Anyways, frustrated and angry, I hope whoever subs for the Chiefs will take em on a run.

Again I apologize on how inconveniant this is, out of my hands though.

Yea, I know you have been battling that shit..definitely sucks to happen now.

Doc, you around? You haven't been able to sub yet in the playoffs and played well all season. I should still have commish powers, so I will log on and boot LV now. Hope that is ok with you n8.

I am pretty sure you can draft from a website, or you could give someone an idea of who\what you want and they can draft for you.

I appreciate it man but he deserves a decent player! Someone with a better record than I had.

What time is it scheduled?

I think you are a good pick. Think about it..if you really don't want to or feel comfortable, I respect that, but I think you really adjusted your game a lot, kept with it despite struggling earlier and improved yourself a lot as a player. That is what this league is all about.

The game is scheduled to start in 15 minutes. I am not for sure what DR's schedule is like, but it would be nice to get it in tonight so we don't have to worry about rescheduling the game and pushing everything back.

If anyone else has thoughts/objections/whatever, speak now.

It's schedualed for 9:30pEST.

Any sub offers?

Edit: I am on my CPU now as opposed to my phone. Sorry to hear about your xbox LV.
I have no problem with Doc subbing. I do not want to play someone who is still alive in the playoffs as that would feel like double dipping. I would REALLY like to get the game started between 9:30-10:00p EST.

Doc talked to me about it, and I agreed with his position. I basically said wait and see what DVO does, if he backs out just never trade with him again. That's pretty much the stance I am going to take if someone agrees to a deal with me and then backs out. Also, I don't think we can do anything to really enforce trade agreements.

AWESOME Game man!

Did y'all want me to keep subbing the Chiefs?
Do it up Doc! Schedule the next one yourself. If an X-Box miraculously appears before game time, I'll step in, but, IMO, it's the playoffs, you won, you move on for me.

Win the SuperBowl and I'll split the credit with you ;)

Put the boys to work!

As far as I am concerned Doc, yes. n8 has the final say of course, but I don't see any reason as to why not. It has been how we have been handling the playoff subs so far.

Nice job though DR. Took a team you weren't familiar with to the divisional playoff round. Good job man.

I think The Chiefs play the steelers next? If so I'll reach out to the owner. Also I actually have an extra xbox (old school) with a 120 hard drive. I dont know if you'd be interested but I'll sell it to you?

As of right now I believe I'm still under Microsoft warranty, but if it all falls apart and I can get a good deal you never know.

I would have loved a rematch with the Steelers.................

Good call. I would have done the same thing. I'm finally logging into Madden now (haven't touched my Xbox since my game with the Jets) to switch back to New Orleans. If you can promote me back to commish in the next hour or so, I'll advance us. If not, you can just do it. My time has just been super limited lately.

And yeah, doc can definitely stay on as the Chiefs. I would have suggested him or DVO anyway.

Thanks man! I played my best despite not having a run game. My oline played like garbage

Great game Doc! I was amazed afterwards looking at Addai's stats afterwards, less than 20yrds rushing, but had 195yrds receiving w/ 2tds.

How does 60 by way of PayPal sound and I'll pay shipping? Just let me know. It's one of the old school white xbox's with a black 120gb hard drive.

Just doing a little draft prep work here myself, these are the picks that were/will be traded by draft time (some of them have been passed around like the village prostitute, lol, and reverted back to their original owner) and the order in which we need to worry about them.

Cowboys get Texans' 1st round pick

Texans get Cowboys' 1st round pick (traded back)

Texans get Lions' 1st round pick

Lions get Texans' 2nd round pick

Texans get Lions' 2nd round pick (traded back)

Broncos get Cowboys' 3rd round pick

Jets get Saints' 3rd round pick

Texans get Panthers' 3rd round pick

Saints get Broncos' 3rd round pick

Texans get Lions' 5th round pick

I THINK that is it (for now). Looks like doc is going to be chatting up a storm on draft night, haha.
