Man, that was a close game. I know I'm on the lower end of the scale when it comes to skills in this league, but I feel that I've given away wins- fully or partially- in both leagues. This time, it falls into the "partially" category, because Deuce played a great game. That was incredibly fun and we may just have a good rivalry in this division, even if not in the standings.
The game started out crazy, with me fumbling the opening kickoff return after getting hit, and him throwing a pick on the next play. I drove 90 yards down the field for a touchdown to go up 7-0. Our defenses were both doing a good job stopping each other for a bit until Deuce mounted a good, long drive that got him near the end zone.
That was where I began to slip. I picked him off in the end zone and made a really stupid decision to run it back since only one guy was in my way down the sideline. That guy tackled me at the 6. I ended up making big mistake number 2 when I threw a pick 6 which allowed him to tie the game 7-7.
After a Chargers drive stalled at the Raiders 41, a punt put the Raiders back at their own 5. However, they drove all the way downfield and took a 14-7 lead. After a 60 yard Philip Rivers TD pass tied it up, the Chargers ended up getting the ball back with a minute or so left. I got myself to a 2nd and 1 on the 3 yard line when my potential game-tying touchdown pass was caught, but didn't make it to the goal line. Awesome game.
Oakland Raiders 21, San Diego Chargers 14
I lost Patrick Crayton for 7 weeks due to a broken collarbone on a kick return. And whereas Deuce says he needs to work on his secondary, I need to work on not overthrowing receivers. Philip Rivers is a different animal compared to Aaron Rodgers.
