CAG MLB 10: The Show League Fantasy Teams! MIL/PHI/SD open! Series 6 Games Due 9/6!
As for the late game dramatics, maybe a harder throwing pitcher (fast than Zito at least) and my hail mary power swings had something to do with it. Honestly though, it was more luck than anything. This type of stuff happens a lot to me when I face the computer.
Honestly, that's probably what it was...especially considering that I was doing the same thing to King Felixk, who also throws hard. For whatever reason, people online seem to THRIVE using junkball pitchers and weak ass change ups low and outside. Granted, I thought I did a decent job mixing my pitches with Zito, but yeah, it's like his pitches were too soft for you to do anything with...which makes no sense at all.

Then I bring in Wilson, who throws 97, and those groundballs grew eyes. The logic is really terrible in this game. There should be a SMALLER window to get a good swing on guys who throw that hard. And with guys like Zito, you should be able to react late and still get good wood on the ball. I just have the same feeling about this game that I do with NHL 10. They both get ridiculous 9.5 ratings, but the more you play them, the more you see they play nothing like the real sport. They also both benefit from the fact that 2K has no clue how to make a good game anymore, so they look vastly better by comparison. But I really can't wait until EA can make baseball games again.
Ive been looking for a league to join for a while now. Count me in for the Red Sox if they're still available. Just send me a PM w/ the info please.
Sorry, steggy PM'd me about taking the Red Sox earlier. The Padres are still available though. Let me know if you want them.

On that note, steggy, I got your invite sent out. As soon as you accept, you can start playing your games.

EDIT - Invite also sent out to whataboutbob?. So, the league is full again. Hope you guys can get your Series 2 games played soon, so we can open that wonderful schedule up by another game.

Also, one more thing to Supreme, when I was sending the invite out to whataboutbob?, I checked the league schedule, and it appears that our game hasn't registered yet. So, I quit out of my game with Josh, and it counted instantly. But you and I complete our game, and it's taking its time, lol. WTF? I think I would respect SCEA more if they just took online play out of MLB 11, and just said "We tried, but clearly we have no idea what we're doing."

Steggy PM'ed me today. can't play tonight, but we're hoping to play soon. I need to check the schedule tonight to see which series that is, and what my other 2 series are (if I haven't played them yet). It sucks that the web site has no schedule. It takes about 5 minutes for SportsConnect and the leagues to load up.

human played games wont show up in the standings anymore cuz of the booted/quitters . only resolved ones i take it a quit is the same as a resolve. we will never know til the end how those games will affect playoffs.

hey, ill be on tonight.... friend me on psn so we can get some games in. Matt, i think we need to get outs in as its listed first for me.

also, im sitting in the lobby now with a challenege pending to thegloomyavenger.... plz accept, lol

btw matt, if it takes me a min or two to get started... I havent even looked at the majority of my roster yet so it may take 2 mins to figure out a decent batting order

^ hey man, don't blame me... I'm as pissed at the game as you.

also, how the fuck do I find the Knight rosters... even the roster vault sucks dick this year... this shit is awful.

not blamin you... just i start the first game with 4-5 strikeouts... drops. Second game, doing ok, give up a two run shot and it drops again... I hate how if you drop while down, even if its the other person you get the loss... doesnt make sense. Im real close to trading htis game in for mlb 2k10.... yea... im that peaved.

well in the other league, i was up 2-0 twice against wildcpac and i didn't get the win either time... and how do you know who is dropped?

But it's "the most realistic baseball game ever!", guys, lol. I just feel like that group at SCEA San Diego is so fucking arrogant because of the lack of competition they've had since 2K bought the MLB license. To say that they made an effort with the online aspect of the game this year is a joke. The best baseball analogy I can use with this game is that it's a home run hitter who won't run out a ground ball. It gives you all the flash and the highlights, but it's fucking lazy and makes stupid mistakes. In short, this game is Manny Ramirez incarnate.

A good company recognizes their shortcomings, and if they can't improve them, they, at the very least, make them more accomodating. There's no reason this game couldn't have a feature to allow Commissioner's to reset games so when disconnects happen, they're not so devastating. I feel like we're fighting through this league tooth and nail, and I don't even know how true the outcomes are going to be because of the drops, lag, phantom games, games assigned to the wrong teams, etc.

We might as well just pull names out of a hat and say "Congrats! You made the playoffs!", lol. Or, sadly, my suggestion of doing a pen and paper league like wildcpac is doing with Tecmo Super Bowl would probably be the best thing for this game. We couldn't do fantasy teams and we'd have to always use the most current roster, but at least we could play games to completion and report the correct stats. That might be something to think about if the shit really hits the fan. That is, if people haven't started using the game for target practice by then.

Also, I appreciate the effort you guys are making. It seems like it's not easy on any of us, and we're all struggling to enjoy the game. It shouldn't be this difficult, but yeah, unless we all trade it in for 2K10 (which would be pretty hilarious...but probably not necessarily "better"), the only thing we can really do is collectively boycott pre-orders on next year's game, and all give SCEA the middle finger and buy it used 2 weeks after release.

Steggy, I didn't see you on. I got on at 10:00 Central and since you weren't on, I ended up playing Supreme for the other league.

Ugh... now, after not experiencing any of the issues other people have mentioned with the game, online or off, I've gone through 2 in the same night.

1) The game I just played with Supreme did not count in the standings for Josh's league.

2) In this league, my team- the Dodgers- DOES NOT EVEN SHOW UP IN THE STANDINGS. Supreme confirmed that it wasn't just me seeing things. What the hell?

Matt, where are you looking in the standings? If you're looking on the main league page (the one with the newspaper), yeah, it doesn't show every team. It's just stupid like that. If you're talking about the regular "standings" section, I have no idea why that would be. Regardless, you're listed on the website. It shows the Dodgers as being 1-3. But I'm sure that's not what your actual record is. This brings me to my second point.

The reason you haven't noticed "any of the issues other people have mentioned" is because you haven't played the game enough. It's not like my PS3 is broken, or my copy of the game is defective...and I'm sure as hell not making these things up. There are a ridiculous amount of bugs and glitches in this game, that if you took the time to explore, you would find. Here, try this one: play a game in Tropicana Field, and press "select" while you're pitching.

As for leagues, I can promise you that unless Sony fixes the servers or patches online, no game will show up in the standings in this league or Josh's league for the rest of the season. This problem seemed to coincide with dropping people and replacing them. I guess it's good that you're finally seeing issues that people have been talking about for weeks, but did you think we were just kidding? lol.

I've played a decent amount. I just haven't seen many stadiums aside from minor league ones in RTTS, and the White Sox, Twins, and Indians fields in franchise.

I didn't think you were kidding, but I've had good luck in not getting common glitches before.

My record is indeed 1-3, and I am talking about the actual standings page in-game. I am not even listed on there.
hey but does anyone really know how I can get the Knight rosters? it's impossible to find.
Try sorting by rating. They're called OSFullMinors or something like that. The biggest problem I get with the roster vault is that the download numbers don't seem to stick. Whenever I sort them by most downloaded, I get really weird ass low numbers when you'd think Knight's rosters would be in the thousands by now. If you sort by rating, you should be able to find them though.
Only problem is, though the minors are correct, the rosters are outdated by over a month.
he updates them a bunch of times, or at least he did with the previous games.

it seems like he is releasing the full minors with 25 man roster updates every week, at least i think it is according to the abbreviations.

I'm interestd in jumping i if there is ever a vacancy. This has pretty much turned into the only game I play...and I'm not complaining whatsoever. :D

I upgraded my ps3 hard drive and am restoring my backup data now. I remember that I need to play gloomyavenger for either series 3 or 4.

MattYoung, maybe tomorrow night? What time are you on usually?

I don't have a usual time. I usually go 40+ hours without sleep and then sleep for 12 hours due to really bad insomnia. I also go a few days at a time without playing my PS3 (same for the 360, really) at times. But I'm sure we can set something up. I am pretty available; just not always on. What time are you talking?

I am probably going to be playing a Madden league game, but I'm not sure what time that might be. Just let me know what is best for you. I'll have plenty of time to get in both the MLB and the Madden games.

For anyone who's curious, I'm probably going to give some flexibility with this week's deadline because whataboutbob? wasn't able to get into the league until yesterday. I invited him several days ago, but he said it didn't give him the option of joining. Anyway, let's just try to get series 2, 3, and 4 completed as soon as possible. It would be great if we could get those done before another week goes by.

Sorry guys I have a lot that has gone on lately with my production company and needed to get a lot of things taken care of, I am back now though. I will try to get the majority of games caught up this week for those who are available and have the Tigers on their schedule.

According to cgarb

ATTENTION: DO NOT DOWNLOAD PATCH #3!!!!!!!!!

I just downloaded it and then saw on Operation Sports that there is a pretty huge bug in patch #3. Apparently if there is a man on 3rd with 2 outs and a ground ball is hit resulting in an out the run scores from 3rd and counts. This is an atrociously stupid glitch that almost breaks the game. This has happened to people in every game mode since updating their game, Franchise, RTTS, exhibition, ect. I'm pretty pissed at myself for downloading this patch soon after it came out, I should've known there would be some giant new glitch after the patch. ARGH!!!!!!!!!

Just read the last couple pages of the thread on OS, and Russell posted this:

Because of this bugs severity we will be doing another patch ASAP. I'll update when I have more info.

So, basically, leagues should be on hold until this issue is fixed. In fact, I probably won't play The Show at all until it's fixed.

You can't make this crap up! So tempting to trade it in while it still holds some value....
What an amazing waste of potential!

I wouldn't blame you. Even with the thought of "well, at least they're fixing the problems", it just gets so discouraging (at least for me anyway) every time you run into a new bug with this game. I guess this last thing isn't a huge catastophe since a quick fix does appear to be coming.

But it makes me think that their coding is held together by scotch tape. I don't know how fixing standings/records issues with online leagues, the Tropicana freeze, and the Sounds of the Show song limit problem leads to "a groundout to end the inning scores the runner on 3rd". You'd think that would be in a completely separate section of code. None of the remaining bugs were really gameplay related. Why are they screwing with gameplay? I just don't get it.

oops, I downloaded the patch but only play road to the show and this online league so I think I'm fine.

Online Leagues
-Games that diverge (drop, disconnect etc..) will now be thrown away.

yeah that's a cool fix and all, but there seems to be a ton of dropped games and that's going to make games much longer.
oops, I downloaded the patch but only play road to the show and this online league so I think I'm fine.
The 3rd out, runner scoring glitch happens in all game modes. I haven't downloaded the patch, but I probably just won't touch the game until it's fixed.

Needless to say, for the league, it's going to basically push us back a full week.

It looks like this last patch is safe for everyone to download. A few people have had some freezing issues with it, but these seem to be isolated incidents. So, this league is NOW RESUMING.

Since today is Saturday, I'm going to give Series 2 games a final deadline of this Tuesday, 5/25 at 11:59 PM...and Series 3/4 a deadline of Friday at 11:59 PM EST.

I hope this isn't too much for people who have none of those games played. I may consider being lenient if a team shows significant effort but just can't get all 3 games played. But the point is picking this thing back up and getting it moving again. I'm really curious how many league issues were actually fixed with this patch. Records on the league website are still wrong....so, who knows.

HOLY fuck! Disregard the PM I just sent out to everybody. I just got confirmation from Russell himself that our leagues are essentially broken. I posted this on OS a few hours ago:

I still haven't downloaded the patch yet, but since the freezing seems to be fairly isolated, I gave my league the ok to download it, and I'll do so myself later today. What I have noticed however is that theshowcommunity webpage for my league still shows the wrong standings. Not a single game has been recorded since we had to replace one guy in the league.

I'm not sure what SCEA thinks they fixed with online leagues, but they gave a big list of things as though leagues were taken care of, but yet I'm still seeing this. Games that were played 3 weeks ago are not being reflected in the standings. We can only hope that the games are actually registering since the game isn't asking me to resolve them. But it feels like quite a big leap of faith. If we get to the end of the season and can't advance to the playoffs, heads will roll. I love my offline play as much as the next guy, but online play is still a HUGE selling point for this game. If they can't do it right, I'd rather have it taken out of MLB 11 completely and have them charge $10 less. Online play has always been a miserable experience with this series. They need to learn to cut their losses.
Surprisingly, he actually responded to my post...but with this:

The league fixes are not retroactive you have to start over to take advantage of them.
To which, I responded with this:

Wow...my guys aren't going to be happy about that one. Glad we wasted 2 months. No offense to you Russell, but that portion of the game was completely botched this year (for something that was supposed to be "the focus"). That kind of stuff makes the game not worth $60. "Much Cooler This Year" it was not...
I won't be surprised if this gets me banned from OS. I confronted "the savior" directly. But I'm sorry, that's complete garbage. So, we should have waited until May 22nd to start our online league for a game that came out March 3rd. fuck off SCEA! Anybody who pre-orders this game or buys it at launch in the future is a tool. Unless you don't care about online play at all, there's really no point.

what a crock of shit seriously . I had a feeling they weren't gonna work anyways oh well . we gonna try again?
what a crock of shit seriously . I had a feeling they weren't gonna work anyways oh well . we gonna try again?
I don't know. I guess we can see what people's interests are. Honestly, I wonder how many people would have the patience for another fantasy draft. Granted, it only took like an hour and a half last time...but not everybody was able to make it. We'd also need to assess how many people are actually still even interested in being in a league. I'll go with whatever the community wants to do.

there are 6 man leagues . personally i think 16 is too big as most people lose interest. im still down my ps3 however isnt a fan of me at the moment

All right, well that's four people so far. I think what I'm going to do is just have sign ups like we're starting fresh. I'll give people already in the league first priority, and people will be keeping their teams. Once everyone is signed up, if somebody wants to switch to an open team that would be fine. I do want to keep the AL and NL even though. I think I'll give everyone until Tuesday to sign up...and we'll see how many teams we end up with. Honestly, anybody still around to sign up for a 3rd time is probably committed enough to participate.

I'll still play. Leagues were the main reason I got the game. I was also on a huge baseball kick for the first month of the season, although that has died down a bit with the NHL and NBA playoffs going on.
